| Moderated Posts to Remain | Started by: green on Oct 16, '16 20:10 |

Just checked MrKuku's thread (https://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/899540#140342211) and there is a post about 4 down that had a giant purple "M" next to it. I haven't seen that before. Turns out the post had been moderated and was pending deletion so it was hidden, but I could click on it and view what was said, should I so choose. In my opinion, that is absolutely great and better than the actual post being deleted at all. I can follow the conversation if I choose, but also not have my sensibilities offended if that sort of thing bothers me. Is there a chance this could be here to stay? Obviously is the posts are utter dogshit, they need to be swept; but for minor OOC references like the one in question, I think it is a winner. |

I am not sure there is a point to it staying. Often people just rewrote what they had done previously but made sure to check better that it was not OOC. The streets are meant for in character, so I think they should be removed for good. |

Actually, posts are usually removed whilst the conversation continues to progress. This often distorts the meaning of the thread and makes it difficult to follow; the thread I linked above being a case in point, where we just have reference to Godly interference and nobody knows what is said. The point in them remaining, is rather than having than having this comfusion, there would be transparency. I would be able to view the moderated post and understand what was beimg said, rather than having to summise after the fact what someone may have meant. |

I would like to see it remain for exactly the reason you explained green. You can really loose the flow of a conversation when things disappear altogether and the energy around the topic being discussed can be impacted by the confusion. Yes there does have to be a line as you said if it is just utterly trash then do trash it but for small errors as in this case I think it works well. |

I'd like to see a new and separate tag for OOC replies in the street. Something to keep the flow of conversations preserved but eliminates the bonuses from posting in the streets. The tag could work similar to the moderated one, only it isn't deleted from the post. |

I would be fine with that. I would also be fine with a toggle option in preferences, defaulted to "off", which I switch on to enable me to see all posts. OOC posts don't bother me half as much as not being able to follow the conversation. |

Maybe if the ORIGINAL POST is removed it should just disappear from the forums rather than stay open and collect replies? Just a suggestion. |

SisterMaryJane a moderated post still needs the final choice to delete or not delete to be done by Helpdesk and the admins. Which is why the posts stay there. People can still reply because you can still view the post. Once its deleted, the ability to post is gone. |
