You slide down the nearest alley which happened to be the one Johnny had just pulled you into. You glance back towards the main road to see the cops sprinting by. The adrenaline begins coursing through your body. You just met with the Boss and evaded the cops if this is what mafia life was to be like you couldn't wait to see what was next. You pull the brown envelope back up from your side, open it up and glance at the contents. The look of astonishment followed by a smile came across your face. You had never seen so much cash at one time and the thought that you had been entrusted to serve the family sent a shiver down your spine. You knew this was your time to shine but where to start, your mind started going crazy as you tried to figure out where to go and what to buy. Standing in the alley for a couple minutes you begin to think about what had been said to you in the past but there was one problem. You couldn't remember anything all you could think about is the amount of cash you were holding. Shaking your head from side to to side you immediately came back to reality just when you felt the tip of cold steel press into your back, followed by a voice. "Hand over the envelope kid, I know the boss just gifted you something nice." You gulp hard and stay motionless for a moment while you try to figure out what to do. Do you turn around and swing, hand over the envelope or possibly even run. Just when you thought you decided what to do you hear the voice again. "Come on kid hand it over..." That's when it clicked, you have heard that raspy voice before. "Johnny?" He began to laugh hysterically as he removed the gun from your back. Quickly you turn around, your fear turned into a sigh of relief. "What the hell man, are you crazy... You almost caught a fist upside the head." Johnny laughed some more then placed his gun into his back pocket and draped his arm over you. He smelled even more like alcohol this time around almost to the point where you weren't even sure how he was still standing. "Come on kid, lets go have a drink." "No no, I can't I have to figure out how to get in contact with a supplier." Johnny pulled you in closer to him. His whiskey breathe basically smacking you in the face. "I know a guy, my bartender, actually him and I were talking. He is looking to get rid of some Barbiturates and really cheap. Just $2,200 a unit. I told him I had a guy in mind. He smiles then hiccups. Imagine the cash you can make off of that." Not having steered you wrong before you nod in agreement. "Let's go then." Johnny starts walking and with a shrug of your shoulders you follow behind him. It wasn't a long walk, actually took you only about a minute. The bar he frequented was right around the corner from the alley. He walked in like he owned the place and headed straight over to the bartender, you made sure to closely follow behind him. "Hey buddy, this is Steve. Steve this is the person I was telling you about." The bartender looked you up and down. "You're not a cop are you?" You laughed and quickly dismissed the notion. Then pulled out the brown envelope. "I hear you have some items you are looking to part with, I will gladly take them off your hands." You pass him a wad of cash, he takes it and flips through it. Looking back up at you he smiles. "Come on, follow me." You look back for Johnny but he was gone, it was something he was good at just randomly vanishing without a trace. You didn't need him though you had this under control. You followed Steve into the back and watched as he pointed to a crate on the floor. "There you go, it's all yours. Oh and I hear they are looking for this stuff uptown at a place called The Spot, I would do it but it isn't worth the risk for me." He placed the cash into his back pocket and pointed to the back door. With a nod and a handshake you grab the crate and walk out the back door. You hail the next cab telling the driver to take you to The Spot uptown and make sure it is the back entrance. You slide him a couple dollars and tell him to step on it. It was the quickest cab ride you had ever had and in moments you were at the back door. You slide out of the cab, grab the crate walk over to the back door and give it a few knocks. A big burly man opened it up, he looked at you and then looked at the crate. "Barbiturates?" "Yes." He looked you up and down then when feeling content he pulled a wad of cash out of his pocket, you place the crate in front of him as he hands you the money. He picked up the crate and walked back inside. Once the door closed you counted the wad, it was triple what you bought it for. A rush of excitement went through your body, as you knew a nice kick back to the Boss for his investment in you plus more would go a long way for your family status. |
