Fix & Stick Started by: Scratchy on Oct 18, '16 17:12

Scratchy finding himself all alone down a dank and weary alley-way, catching the sweet night air after a good dig. With a box of cigarettes under his flat cap, shovel across his shoulder and his pockets filled with jewellery - he begins to whistle an assortment of notes. As the metal collides with each other with each step - his dirtied ragged clothes makes his findings look even more appetising.

As the smoke rising from some of the adjacent houses as the air gets chillier, Scratchy finds a nice spot near the end of the alleyway, still whistling - he puts himself in a corner near a metal bin. As the wind starts to flutter through his new home he's made for himself temporally as he sorts through his jewellery noting the shiny ones from the dulled, he's remembered of his own mortality.

Floating from the alley to around town - Scratchy stumbles upon an abandoned spacious building, was once a building that was meant for fermenting foods but since the influx of motor-vehicle innovation - it has been dumped, scraped and left. His own motive and hobby is driving - but being raised in the Chicago area, missed opportunities rused him from the legit throughout him, knowing some people from his last venture throughout Chicago and Las Vegas, the contractors and permits he could get together was no problem.

Two months later, with his digging days still ahead of him - Scratchy gets a call from his home as he lays in bed, simple words from his friends he knew before who worked on his buildings in the past;

"It's done, the keys are under the matt," With the phone down, jumps out of the chair he was laying in, Scratchy puts on his rags, spitting the whiskey as it was mouth onto the carpet floor.

Finding himself at the very doorstep of the building, he takes the key from the matt, tips his cap with his one hand as he opens the door and walks through. The Spacious atmosphere and the new smell of refurbishment took him back to his old ways - the single garage door was pessimistic, but as his last venture failed - this was the move he made, but the area that filled was quite advanced for what other mechanics had - the flooring was white tiling and the walls were maroon coloured - all the tools and the appropriate liquids that a car uses on a daily basis on the shelf made him gleam - not needing to spend anything makes anyone put on a smile.

As a person named Lawrence knocks on the door as he slips into the room with his jumpsuit already on with a bit of elbow grease already walks into the shop;

"Hey, Scratchy right?" Lawrence exclaims,

"Howdy, yo-your a friend of a friend right?" Scratchy responds,

"Yeah, let me show you around - grab a jump suit and you'll see what our customers can receive, simple engineering - brings in the moolah though," Lawrence chuckles as he walks towards the counter with his arms crossed.

Finding his jumpsuit - Scratchy takes off his dirtied ragged jacket, from a long day of grifting the graves and many post offices within the downtown district, as he walks outside and looks at the board:

With a smile on Scratchy's face, he goes back inside and stands next to three barrels - knowing that he wont make enough money from the legit side of things - he grabs a can of oil and fills each one them, as he takes out three plastic tight bags fulled with deadly arms such as; Tommy-gun, .Colt and explosives. Each sink into the oil as Lawrence loads them onto the truck already, ready to travel to other states.

Sitting at the desk as things externally move forward, internally - Scratchy looks towards the garage door as it lays wide open waiting for a customer.

Lawrence parks the truck into the garage as it's opened by a part-time worker, following through he walks in - turns the ignition off and gets a cloth to start cleaning the truck, with a sigh and work to do - Lawrence and his part time worker start to load barrels up for the next month's load towards New York.

Two weeks later, Scratchy enters the building, with a suitcase and jet-lagged eyes, he seems to fall apart as he enters the door - walking inside with his own stumble, as if the apocalypse has stricken the world with plague - grabbing a beer from the counter and sitting down. Lawrence walks up to him,

"Least you didn't have to drive thirteen hours,"

"Least you didn't have to watch your, 'only hope of making it anywhere,' in a casket," Scratchy replies, with a solemn tone. Lawrence's  eyes perk up,

"That rat bastard who fucked you up, your sorry about that guy?" Lawrence exclaims,

"He may be a rat bastard, but we was going places - turns out the mook didn't know how to keep his trap shit," Scratchy laugh turns into a sigh, "Miss the bastard.."

As one sits in silence as the other one stands - Lawrence pats Scratchy on the shoulder, walking off to the truck. With three gulps of beer, Scratchy attempts to get up - with strained arms, he approaches his feet - shuffling towards his jumpsuit, Lawrence starts to grin as Scratchy looks like his a newborn baby learning to put clothes on, as he tries to put on the jumpsuit - one arm at a time.

As agreed, the next day I arrived at Fix and Stick to meet with Scratchy. The place was empty, only Scratchy and Lawrence were inside. They were both leaning against a car talking, I approached the gentlemen who were speaking of a shipment.

"How's it going gentlemen?, Scratchy it looks like ill be settling in permanently here. Last night I ran into a familiar face here in Detroit, KateLogan...im sure you heard of her. Turns out while I was here on business my crew back in Vegas ran into some ugh complications. Anyway she took me in, I went and got myself an apartment nearby. So you got something for me today?."

Giving Darmody a nod and a firm handshake, Lawrence stands by the half loaded truck - shutting the garage door and placing the 'Closed' sign out on the door, Scratchy prepares Darmody for his first interaction into the free market of arms running,

"Great to have you here," Pausing as he takes out a cigarette before grabbing a cloth and wiping his hands from heavy lifting, "Kate is a smooth talking women if i've ever seen one, you've got yourself a lady that can kill without a second thought," taking an inhale, "Well that's what i've heard anyway," Exhaling with smoke, from the side of his mouth, with the cigarette on his lips, Scratchy claps both hands together and starts to rub, "Lets get to work, ladies first," Bowing, with his hands directing towards the two barrels as Darmody follows suit.

"It's easy kid, you put the tender in the plastic bags, fill the barrels full of oil and walla, you've made yourself twelve grand," Scratchy says in a sarcastic way - doing as he instructs infront of Darmody, taking up three minutes as getting the air out of the bags once they've been filled takes a few minute to fuss out, "So, you think you could do that with the rest?" Scratchy says, inhaling with the cigarette before throwing the bud on the floor, "Your a fast learner, I can tell."

Mercedes checks her watch and looks again at the 'closed' sign at the front door of Fix & Stick. She can hear muffled voices inside, so she raps on the door. She had a specific automotive job she needed done, and she'd heard that Scratchy might be able to help her out, for the right price.

The car she'd arrived in idles at the curb behind her. It was in perfect working order, but if she had her way, it soon wouldn't be. She was willing to pay top dollar for discreet service...

While keeping things in check around the shop, I notice a women at the door. I walk over and unlock the door, opening it slightly. After she tells me Scratchy said he may be able to help her I let her inside before speaking with her in detail about her situation.

"So my name is Darmody, I work with Scratchy. Anything I can help you with?, or do you prefer to wait for Scratchy?."

Mercedes pauses a moment, weighing her options.

"I think you can help me. I've got a simple request. It's a bit unusual, though." She gestures to the car behind her. "The oil level is fine, and the brakes are almost new. I need them...not to be. Drain the oil, cut the line, maybe pull fuses if necessary in order to keep dashboard lights from coming on? I'll pay you here and now, just name your price. A man will be here to pick the car up this afternoon. All you need to do is hand him the keys and let him meet his fate," she says. At the expression on Mr. Darmody's face, Mercedes quickly tries to reassure him.

"Trust me. He's a very bad man," she says solemnly. "This is probably too good for him."

Report Post Tip

"Its no problem at all madam, I did some mechanical work when I was in war. Since you know Scratchy I trust your good for payment so just meet up with him later, you can handle the payment with him. I will get to work on this now, and I assure you that your car here will be well taken care of."

I say that with a smirk as I shake hands with Ms. Kompressor.

"So if you need anything else please feel free to let me know, it was a pleasure meeting you."
