Getting on the ship was hard enough. He knew that Rizzo's men where most likely on the ship somewhere also. Waiting for the perfect time to pounce on him and take it back. Why had he left Italy and promised to get this item to America? What the hell was he thinking? This trip was supposed to be around 7-10 days, so he needed to be on alert for anything that may happen. He made his way to his room, on E-deck, and put his key in the door. He got his gun out and pushed the door open. He was not taking any chances. He knew that the Rizzo clan could be anywhere. He threw down his duffle bag and began to rub his aching head. Soon, the stewardess knocked on the door. "is everything ok with your room sir," she asked. He looked up and nodded halfway and said "yeah, this will do. Anywhere that I can just rest will do." The woman left. He took out it and began looking it over. "Why the hell would Rizzo care so much about this thing? And why did I get myself into this mess over taking this old relic to America?" Another knock at the door. "Sir, dinner is served," the butler said. He drug himself onto his two feet and followed the man out the door and headed to the dinner hall. No telling who he would meet there....... |

The dining room was pretty much what he expected, a bunch of suits and dresses, and people trying to act better than they were. He really did not want to draw attention to himself so he found a table in the corner and sat down down. He was a little worried, because he had not locked his cabin door and it was still in his bag. The waiter approached him and asked for his order. "Just whatever the night's special is will be fine," he said. In the old country, he hadn't had a good meal in weeks so it wasn't the time to be choosy. As he almost ended his meal, a large man in a suit walked to middle of the room. "All right people, who here knows about the relic? I ain't asking twice!" Shit! Now he was worried. The room erupted in panic as the man pulled out a tommy-gun and began waiving it around. Eric knew that Rizzo's men were ruthless. It would not mean much to them to kill the entire room of people. What could he do? He thought fast, picked up a plate, and flung it toward the man, hitting him in the back. The man turned around in time to see Eric running out the door. The man followed him and began spraying shots everywhere.......... |

He ran as fast as he could, he heard the wall shredding apart with the shots from the tommy gun. "Come here you little bitch," the shooter yelled at him. He turned the corner and headed toward the stair case, he headed up the stairs. He thought maybe he could reach the deck of the ship. He wondered why someone would want to kill him, or anyone else, over it. But he knew Rizzo would stop at nothing to stop him from taking it to America. He was pushing people out of the way as he reached for the door. He flung it open and was now on the open deck of the ship. He heard the man burst through the door. Eric was crouched below a bench. He heard the man yelling and cussing. He inched his way over to the side rail. "Here I am am, you asshole," he yelled. The man stopped, and looked at him. The tommy gun was raised...click, click, click. The gun had finally ran out of ammo. The man threw the gun aside and charged. Eric side stepped him and the man went crushing over the railing and into the water. "Help, help, I can't swim," the man yelled. But Eric had already headed back inside to his room. He knew that if there was one crazy idiot on the ship, there must be several more..... |

He returned to his room, looking over his shoulder at every turn. He reached down and picked up the duffle bag and took it out. He decided that he needed to hide this object, just in case his room got raided and he would be destroyed, but the object could be kept safe. He put the object inside his inner coat pocket. He locked his door and headed to the purser's office. He walked in and ask how much it would be to have something put in lock-up. "Well, what type of item is it," the person in charge asked. "I'd rather not say, it's a small item that must, and I mean must, make it back to America and be sent to the Gambino crime family." The purser took a step back and said "hold on now man, I ain't wanting no mob shit going on on this ship." Eric realized he may have made a mistake by admitting he had a mob item, but he really didn't care, especially after almost being tommy-gunned to death. He decided to not leave the item in the purser's office, instead he headed down to the coal bunkers. He figured no-one but coal workers were going to be down here anyway. "Hey, what in the bloody hell are you doing here," one of the soot covered workers ask him. "I'm lost, apparently, I was trying to find my way to the stairs," he replied. As he slipped away towards the door, he found a small crevice in the wall and he stuck it in the crack and covered it up. He headed back to his room, hoping that the rest of trip would be more calm, but fat chance of that happening.... |

The morning bell rang out loud as could be. A stewardess knocked on his door and said "sir, breakfast is served." He was terribly hungry but he was afraid of what lay out there for him outside the door. He was still in shock over being chased by a man with a tommy-gun. IT was causing more trouble than it was worth. He figured he would go down to the coal bunkers and see if the item was still in the wall where he hid it. But he wanted to take a route that would not arouse suspicion from anyone who might be on the lookout for him... |

After he walked down the long corridors, he tried his best to remember his manners. He nodded his head at the suits that walked past him and the ladies that were on these men's arms. He was kinda jealous because he had never known what it was like to have a lady friend. He was too poor. But if he pulled off this job, he would be in the clear and hopefully be paid very well. He reached the coal bunkers again and checked on it. He ducked around a corner as he saw one of Rizzo's men coming that direction. What the hell were they doing in the coal bunker area? Rizzo's men could always be recognized by the red ribbon banded around their black hats. In the old country, people knew not to mess with men that wore this. The henchman walked up to the head of the bunker workers and said "you seen a caucasion male, pretty thin, with decent clothes, having any business down here?" The coal bunker captain shook his head no. The Rizzo member was not buying it. He slammed the man up against the wall and said "listen up, how would you like to be the next piece of coal that gets thrown in the oven?" The man shreaked a pathetic cry and finally admitted "yesterday there was someone who came through here yeah, and odd looking person that shouldn't be down in a dangerous area like this." The thug slammed the man back down on his feet and walked off. Great! "Now the whole entire search party of henchmen are going to be combing every area of the ship for me," he thought. He knew that he may have to give his life just to protect the scared item, or he may have to tell someone else about it, in case he was to die on this ship trying to hide it...... |
