Kate's Office for The Logan Review Started by: KateLogan on Oct 24, '16 03:22

She looked at the clock on her nightstand and then yelled "Crap!" before throwing back the blankets and scrambling out of bed. She was two hours late, and was certain that Kate might actually fire her this time. Maybe. She pulled a dress over her head before sliding her feet into some shoes and running down the stairs. "Crap, crap, crap, crap." She muttered to herself as she grabbed her keys and purse before flying out the door.

She got to the office out of breath, having run from the train station. "Maybe, just maybe, she's not here yet." she mumbled before peeking into the office. She blinked a few times and then said a few choice curse words before pasting a smile on her face and turning to look at the ladies who were there. "Ms. Deluca, lovely to see you." she told TammyDeluca before turning her attention to Kate, "Sorry, sorry." she said, "Overslept. Do you need anything?" she asked her boss, mentally crossing her fingers that she didn't because Jennie was ready to chug a cup of coffee.

Kate smiled at TammyDeLuca

"What did you want to talk to me about, Tammy?"

Kate, surprised, accept the flowers from @Bille_Faegan.

"Okay... looks I need to talk to both of you. Which one of you is coming into my office first?"

At that moment, Jennie burst into the office reception area looking a bit stressed. Kate smiled at her.

"Late night, Jennie?"

She pointed a finger at KateLogan and then collapsed into a chair, huffing and puffing. "You have got to be one of he busiest people who is so utterly disorganized." she told her boss before putting her hand to her chest. "I think Im having a heart attack. How do you know if you're having a heart attack. Oh, my god. I am to young to die." she said dramatically.

Report Post Tip

Kate walks over to Jennie, leaning down and staring at her for a moment to see if she was really having a heart attack.

"Pretty sure you're too young to have a heart attack either. Take some deep breaths. We've got a whole new delivery of mail coming in in a couple hours, after all."

Straightening and grinning, Kate walked into her office, wondering if Billie or Tammy would follow her in first.

She opened her mouth a few times, and then closed it, no sound coming out. Finally when Kate vanished into her office she let her head drop back to the back of the chair and groaned. "My god, this woman's correspondence is going to be the death of me.

Billie smiled at the interaction. There was an easiness about Kate that always made her feel more confident with her life choices. Winking playfully she told Jennie, "Little birdie told me you have some errands that need running. I'd be happy to oblige when I'm done." With that she followed Kate into the office and shut the door behind her, quietly slipping into an open chair.

Kate leaned back in her chair, smiling at Billie_Faegan.

"So, what'd you want to talk about, Billie?"

Report Post Tip

Jennie perked up after Billie spoke to her, "Right. I suppose I should probably get these things together then." she muttered to herself. She glanced at Tammy who was still standing there and then smiled, "Please, let me know if I can get you anything." She told the woman, "I'll be in my office if you need me." she added before heading to her office to get the files ready and put in the envelope.

Billie took a deep breath, letting it out with a sigh, an pointed to the other bouquet of roses on her desk. Now she was perplexed. How, exactly, did she go about this without coming across... icky. Biting her bottom lip she decided it was better to cut to the chase. The boss had better things to do than this. "I just didn't want you to worry... about your office being open." She gestured to the door behind her. "I know there's been a lot going down lately, and something like that van put a woman on edge. It was Thomas. He... um... came in," Billie worded it delicately, "to deliver that other bushel of roses. Just to set them on your desk is all. I... uh... didn't want to mention it in front of Mrs. DeLuca, just in case. Ya know?"

Billie gave her a shy smile - a real one - and shrugged softly. "That's all. Unless you might need anything. Otherwise, I'm gonna talk to Jennie about some errands and head over to see John... uh... Mr. Noto at the Tower." Billie realized she was rambling a bit and shook her head, "I'm sure you're busier than I am. So I can be on my way. I just wanted to make sure you weren't worried about the door... um... I'm working on some ideas for coordinating things in the city. So... um... I'll come back when I have a more solid idea of how to... um... be of service."

Biting her lip again, Billie looked up at Kate in expectant anticipation.

Kate blinks, noticing the other bouquet of flowers that had been somewhat obscured by Billie's.

"Who's sending me flowers, Billie?"

*Watching while slightly bewildered Tammy sheepishly addressed Kate first.*

"Ah miss logan it's nah some'ting I be needin' ta waste your time with right now."

*she turns to Jennie@*

"G'mornin' miss jennie, do'y by chance have any jobs 'dat need doin'?"

Jennie walked out of her office and back to reception. She had a stack of envelopes in her hand and paused when Tammy spoke to her, "Ah, Ms. Deluca, yes, I have tons of errands that need doing." She told the woman. She set the pile on the desk and moved behind it to pull out her filofax. Riffling through it she found the name she was looking for and scribbled his address down on one of the letters she had gotten. "Can you please deliver this envelope to Mavis Bacon for me?" she asked the woman, holding out the envelope for her.

*she nodded, listening carefully and only distracted to brush hair from her face*

"Sure I can miss, any time 'dat you'd like it ta arrive?"
Report Post Tip

Billie grinned sheepishly and shrugged. "I don't rightly know, Miss Logan. It was on the board. So I went and bought the best dozen I could find in the city and brought them. S'posed to get extra for writing a nice note to go with them. That's really all I know. You might wanna check the message board. Maybe the handwriting will look familiar?"

She gave Kate one of those looks, "I'm surprised you don't get random roses all the time."

She shook her head, "Any time today that you get a chance to drop it off, is fine. Its not time sensitive, so as long as he gets it I'm fine with that." She said to the woman. "Once its been done, drop back here and I'll see that you get paid for your work."

Kate returned Billie's grin.

"I... do have a few educated guesses. Thank you, Billie. One last question- did you write this note? With your flowers?"

Report Post Tip
*entering the offices as the day draws to a close, Tammy approaches jennies desk and hands over some bills*

"Miss jennie tha job is done, mista Beacon gave me 'dese notes for years... artwork."
Report Post Tip

Jennie glanced over them and then blushed bright red, shoving them into the desk drawer. "Thank you, Tammy." she managed to stammer out before clearing her throat and trying to act like a normal human being. "Thank you, for an excellent job well done." She told the woman with a smile before pulling out a pile of cash and handing it over. "Any time you're in the area and looking for more work, I'm sure I can find something for you."

Report Post Tip

Billie smiled and laughed sheepishly. "I don't think I'm supposed to admit that." She rubbed the back of her neck, "But.. uh... yeah. Yeah I did. Um... Do you like it?!" Billie's voice lilted higher. It was a little strange admitting you'd written a love letter to your boss, and even more so that it was supposed to be 'from' someone else. Suddenly she felt very much like a child showing their mother freshly made spaghetti art.

Kate grinned at Billie_Faegan as they stood and headed out of the office to the reception office.

"I love it, actually. Better be careful, Billie- or we'll wind up with me wrapped around your finger like so many others."

She smirked, chuckling.

"Although I'm a tougher catch than most. And you do only have so many fingers."
