So I was thinking, if a city has a god father, most if not all the crews under that city are considered his in all rights, which set me to thinking, if a CL under him were to die, by right those crew members should default back to that god father until he names another captain or CL to take the old ones spot... I'm not saying combine the GF's crew with the CL's crew, I'm saying have it stay seperate, but united under the GF until the GF picks the CL to take over. I wouldn't have this be something that will last at any time over a week, maybe a day or two at most then the crew falls to the streets to find CL's, GF's are busy people and "can't" manage more then ten people, Right? any ways, my idea is similar to how other games deal with a dead CL, but differs in that a CL's RHM won't have the right of way into the spot every time, the GF has to give the new CL the nod, but we don't have this lolli gagging around with people scattering like a pack of headless chickens. There will be people who point out those CL's who turn on their GF, but the smart CL's get out of the city their turning on any ways... point is that the GF should have a chance to hold a crew in his city together if the CL dies. |

There has been some roundtable talk about how if a CL dies, the crew auto transfers to the RHM (if he is made+, and active online), and anyone who is not of eligible rank to stay below the RHM gets auto dropped. If the RHM is dead, the crew auto transfers to the LHM (if he is made+, and active online), same ranking rules apply. It's something we have been kicking around for a while, sure there are some cons to it, but a lot of pros too. Once the dust settles from the new renovations we are doing now, we will probably put this idea up for user comments officially to see if we can work out a perfect solution. |

Humm, Well, the reason I dislike handing it strait to the rhm or lhm is because they might be someone the GF disapproves of, which would most likely lead to another war. But crew succession would be real nice to have any ways. |

Why take away the challenge? |

it doesn't take away the challenge, the family would still fall apart if the GF didn't declare a following CL, it just gives the crew time to adjust. |

From a logical and rp pov, the solution of the family passing to the rhm/lhm/ranking member of the family makes far more sense.
This solution would prevent the immediate issues of families being left unsponsored and killed wrongly (though, personally I'm not a fan of making changes because some hitters aren't smart enough to tell a legit target from a non legit one). This would also lead to takedowns in wars to be far more difficult/interesting so positive gameplay changes.
While it is down to each individual godfather to rp it how they see fit (and the differences between different cities is one of the things that makes the game so great), there is no reason why if a CL should die those members would be considered part of the GF's family. From a logical POV, they would turn to the RHM for leadership and guidance.
The previous discussions on the 'transfer of family' went along the lines of...
Family passes to RHM (if of the rank of made man or higher). If not of the rank;
Family passes to LHM ("). If not of the rank;
Family passes to the highest ranking member (if numerous members of the same rank, the one with the higest exp);
If no members made man or above, family is removed and members left unsponsored.
If a right hand man was ranked lower than some of the members (e.g. rhm a made man and don members in the family), those members would suffer a cosmetic loss of rank (e.g. dropped to made man with an associated loss in rank boost) while still retaining the original exp points. So if there is a decision to move them or appoint a different CL, they suffered no real loss.
The introduction of this type of system would provide many/all of the hoped gameplay tweaks, while putting more value on the position of rhm. It also introduces a tweak on the importance of rank for a rhm (e.g. if you appoint a capo rhm instead of a don, should the cl die you're dropping the def of many members if they lose rank boost for a capo cl.).
I personally would much prefer to see this system introduced, from both a logic and rp pov, than anything that ties seperate families to a godfather (the gf is nothing more than another boss in the city. They just happen to be the 'big' boss, or boss of all bosses. It doesn't mean they are part of the individual families). |

I would like to add that the RHM should in all aspects be someone trusted enough and capable enough in handling GF position as in many families, they are acting GF when the actual Godfather is not around. This goes back to the importance of choosing RHM/LHM and further enhances that position.
Secondly, No matter who doesn't approve of the RHM becoming GF after a fall, fact is it would stand and war or not at that point would be up to the new acting leader to handle. I too favor this change for many reason's. A big one being the unsponsored after the fall of a GF. Currently there is a rush to either protect them and kill them with a vast margin for error. Of course a good leader will make sure everyone knows if they are protected or not however I feel the change would benefit the (After war) greatly. |

I've think you've misunderstood this slightly Alfonse.
He/I/anyone isn't talking about a GF's rhm replacing the gf. We're talking about any rhm (or in my case any rhm/lhm/highest ranking member) replacing any cl. The original post was suggesting that when the cl dies, that the godfather of the city provides a temp home for the family and then selects which member is to setup to house them. This is an issue to me because 1) it doesn't provide for a mechanism if a gf dies and 2) it could be achieved under the more inclusive/logical system with some very simple roleplay (e.g. gf mails the rhm who took over and 'persuades' him to hand the crew over to someone else).
I might be wrong, but your reply looks like your suggesting that a gf rhm gets gf if/when a gf dies. I wouldn't have a problem with this if the rhm had the experience and min time requirements... but if not, this should never be the case. |

Yes, I am well aware of the on-going topic. I didn't explain well enough. Within the system of the highest ranker taking over the members (which of course would be someone authd. to do so.) If you are auto shifting members to the next highest up in rank. And the RHM of a GF now has the members of the previous GF's crew. Wouldn't he/she become the new GF? Provided they met the requirements. I am curious as to how that would work within the direct GF family, as for a war they are the main objective target(s). As for crews under the GF, that part is simple.
With the guns out there currently, we are seeing often the GF being the only target in some cases. I am at a loss with the structure of this when it get's to that level.
My rational here is in keeping the flow and balance to the structure of the idea as a whole. In theory, if a RHM takes over a CL position by commanding their members / wouldn't a GF's RHM do the same? |

Hmmm... i like this idea and the solution it calls for. The fact that rank matters is a good thing... because of this, there would be a lot less low ranks carrying a hand man position. This is the part i like... seems more realistic to me. And would surely cause more headakes during war. That would be something to see. This is a major change though... something people would have to get used to. I would love to see it tried out! |

If they were to meet the criteria of min time and exp points, I see no reason why they couldn't/shouldn't GF. As you say, in the absense of the GF they ARE the GF so I don't see a major issue with bypassing the normal '30 member' requirement in that situation.
If they didn't/don't have either the exp or the min time, I'd also have no issues with them taking over as a 'normal' cl and that city losing their 'gf' until such time as someone who meets all the required criteria steps up to the plate. |

"My rational here is in keeping the flow and balance to the structure of the idea as a whole. In theory, if a RHM takes over a CL position by commanding their members / wouldn't a GF's RHM do the same?"
Also, back on topic, Allot of the time we see rhm and lhm who're also thugs, goombas and wise guys, if they have made points, they haven't been buttoned, and since a CL has to be high ranked to keep everyone together, theres the possibility that the crews not under their rank. This leaves a power gap because the RHM/LHM CAN'T Take over... A made man even can't lead a don for instance.
my idea is simply let the whole crew step into the GF's crew for a bit, the GF or his RHM can sort out who's going where and who's taking over the crew, in most cases, the RHM will take over, but might loose a don, or something like that. The GF's RHM might even be handed the crew from time to time, basically, I'm suggesting letting the GF take the crew in hand and decide it's fate in a way less bloody then the wars that often ensue after a illfated regime change, (like a blue gilled RHM taking over from a CL and botching the job.) |
