Pay To post in businesses Started by: Joey on Nov 03, '16 16:12
Right, i dont know how this idea will go down but eh its worth a shot.

So im thinking, people should have to pay a fee, set by the owner, to visit the establishment, the money will obviously go to the owner...but to balance the cash lost there can be a tax (Of say 5-10%) Or the owners now need to pay a fee (Of say 250K) To get a permit, or a green light from the citys GodFather, The fee to get a permit will how ever not be fully paid to the GodFather, i think they do deserve a small percentage but not the whole amount but GodFathers and your CL Should get free acces..(And anyone you manually set If thats even possible)

The Pros:

The game will become more realistic/immersive.
There will be a actual benefit from owning legitimate businesses.
(I Cant think of any if you have some add them)

The cons:

complicated to create for the admins (OOG)
(I Honestly cant think of any if you can add them)

So this is my idea, please let me know if you like this and want it added.

Just going to drop in my post from this thread:

https://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/893946#13805559

stopped reading after that, tbh. But, I know that .org put in a system where you pay X amount to open a business, then you set how much each post costs to make in your business, and you have to pay I believe its 10X that? Or 10%? Im hazy on the actual figures, because well, I haven't played in ages.

But, the same set up would have to be run here - you can't get something for nothing, so you'd have to have a fee to at least open it  - But then it'd take so long to even break even on it, that it wouldn't be worth it. And then theres the fact of the matter where if someone is new, and wants to post but its 5k to post in a BD thread, but they don't have that, they won't post.

Honestly, I'd pay people to visit my business (not much of course). Posting is not what it used to be and I see the BD suffering. The streets may often be loud and opinionated but I see too many dead businesses.

You are correct, it would be realistic for people to spend money in a business but I don't see this as being a way to get more foot traffic in a business.

It eill definitely kill our business district as some already are/were. I agree that business should pay however not in this way, perhaps if we can formulate a certain formula in posting, much like doing petties or felony, wherein people would post and that equates with profit with time interval ofcourse to prevent abuse.

This counter suggestion might be difficult to achieve but that can persuades people in setting up businesses aside from just posting.

The issue i have, is how much would you charge for visiting a business? For example, the game is set in the late 1920s early 1930s. The average salary is $1400 a year. A dozen eggs and a pound of rice is about 62c. A loaf of bread is about 6c. Pork and beans about 5c a can. An average car ranged from $500 to $11,000 I could go on, but you can see better here:

Now, if you are gonna charge me $10 to post in a restaurant thread, that's fine, but if you want me to pay 5k or 50k or 500k to post in your thread for a burger and fries, I think you just killed the business district.

This is true Walter but then you have to think that the amount that you make on crimes isn't realistic to the times either. So you would increase the prices to match what you bring in. I do think this change would kill the BD since you're now wanting people to give money to post so that's just an additional reason not to post. Only way to combat this is to require X amount of posts in order to rank to Y. Which I also don't agree with as it would turn a lot of people away, even though it's a RP game there are still those that want nothing to do with that so they will either post poorly, not post and not rank or leave altogether.

What pros or cons did you find when you played around with tipping, a feature built around monetizing the forums?  Was it easy to enforce?  Easy to get the message across that tipping is etiquette for that read to post?  Could you provide a few of the examples that you have seen?

Report Post Tip

License Fee X Tax X Cover / Post charge.

Factor of 10.

If you want people to pay $50 bucks per post. then Tax will be $500 and License fee $5000

Thoughts ?
