War, Peace, and the future for Detroit Started by: KateLogan on Nov 08, '16 18:14

Kate Logan walked slowly out on the streets with her hands in her pockets. Initially her gaze was downcast, following the progress of her feet as they propelled her along the sidewalk. As she scraped her feet forward during the day's dark dawn, she began to hear the sounds of the city come to life around her: a crying child, music playing from a radio, a cat calling for food on a fire escape, and the rising sound of the machinery of the world warming up and grinding into life once again. By the time she'd reached the appointed meeting place, the sun was fighting with the clouds overheard to bathe the world in the grey light of morning. Seeing several people gathered to listen to her, she began to speak.

Good morning,

I would be remiss if I did not make an appearance in the streets to discuss the events of the previous couple days. I apologize for the slight delay in standing before you here, but I thought it would be best to recover at least some of my energy in order to express myself more effectively.

I'd like to begin by briefly reviewing what happened, as I know it. I can verify Kurgan's account that there was false information being passed around about the intentions of Senza. Godfathers Nakamura, RobOakheart, and ChristianGato were in discussions on this matter; like Kurgan, I do not know the precise details of what was being discussed. What I can state with absolute certainty is that ChristianGato was aware of major, major flaws with whatever "evidence" there was against Senza, and had communicated those flaws to myself and another; my impression was that a potentially violent situation had been averted.

Seemingly, the system was working at this point. The three main pillars of our community had found something disturbing and were convening to discuss it, although I must repeat that the details of that discussion were unknown to me. It was at this point, to use Kurgan's phrase, that things spiraled out of control and ChristianGato was shot and killed. We all know the chaotic, deadly results that then occurred.

And then it stopped. Peace was offered, which is a relatively rare event in our society- though, it should be noted, not unprecedented. Then peace was accepted- which is perhaps equally rare.

I believe Chicago when they say that they want a true, legitimate peace. I believe that ChristianGato, were he there to offer counsel to me as he had so many times before, would not want to see the journey of Detroit- our journey- end by continuing a senseless slaughter that would hurt the larger community. Although I have not been asked to do this, I now publicly forsake any vengeance for those that were lost and swear an oath not to seek retribution. While I will long remember those who were close to me, I will honor them through my efforts in building a city- and it is my intention that every individual Detroit honors this oath as well .

I offer my sincerest gratitude to Kurgan, Neveah, and Nakamura (and the rest of Chicago, of course, but these are the individuals I spoke to officially) for extending this offer of peace, and I hope to prove in the coming weeks and months that both Chicago and Detroit made a good decision in making this peace- one that will benefit our community as a whole.

In a couple days, I will take one last look back into the past. But now I'd like to turn my attention to the future, specifically the future of Detroit.

After speaking with Mercedes_Kompressor, I have agreed to serve as the leader of Detroit and to oversee its three districts.

I do not know what strength is in my blood and how many days I have remaining. But I intend to spend my remaining time and energy in building up Detroit to be an example of excellence for the rest of our society- particularly in the streets and the business districts. I do not presume to hope that every member will always be excellent in every way, as we all know that this is impossible. Instead, I want to build an active, prosperous community where men and women can build their character and skills to reach their fullest potential- the sort of place that people pine for when they someday read the journals of their ancestors.

At the same time, I will do my best to influence the larger community outside Detroit through what I hope will be a positive example, as well as building diplomatic ties and pursuing goals that benefit everyone in our society. One of the first things I hope to discuss with other city leaders is how to avoid situations like this in the future.

But even as I speak of the future, my heart is still heavy with the recent past. For now, I plan to take a couple days to work within Detroit and ensure that we're set on the right path before turning my attention to larger reforms that could potentially benefit us all.

Thank you.

Mercedes stands off to the side, sipping coffee with a quiet smile on her face. As Kate finishes, she steps up and pats her exhausted friend on the arm.

"You're already the hardest working person I know, and here you are, willing to take on more for the betterment of the community.

"You have Black Bottom's complete support in your endeavors, and I honestly look forward to working with you. I have no doubt you will do amazing things, Kate."

Kurgan approaches Kate and bows his head in respect to her .

Ghost listened to Kate give a much needed speech, but she did look exhausted. He did wonder what the coming weeks would bring, but he knew at least that under Kate's leadership we were all better off.

Seeing Mercedes congratulate Kate, he made his way over and saw he was indeed right about her being tired. Nevertheless he spoke with a smile on his face.

"Congratulations Kate, it may be a trying next few weeks, but you'll have my support throughout it all. Working with you, will be interesting and I can't wait to see how the great city of Detroit prospers, under you." Still smiling he gave her a small pat on her shoulder and walked away. Knowing now that the streets of Detroit were safer with somebody like Kate guiding them.

A somewhat seemingly familiar voice/accent echoed through the crowd...

"Congratulations be in order, lass. Welcome to yer new position." If, and when she'd probably look, it of course wouldn't be Bishop. Sadly...

The new man continued speaking as he walked up and shook her hand.

"Me name be Thomas O'Shannon, an' once yeh get yerself settled, I'd like ta buy yeh a drink or t'ree. Yeh knew someone been close ta me, an' I wanted ta thank yeh fer bein' kind to 'em. We'll be in touch lass, hi?"

With that, he released her hand and turned, vanishing back into the crowd.

Don KateLogan we have chatted a few times and I have the greatest excitement for what the future brings and I am glad you are taking control of that part of the nation. Your business model and the way you present yourself has been nothing but the finest and I wish you the best of luck. I have a feeling we can work together on a few different things eventually so lets not wait too long to chat again
