Hunter's Arrival Started by: HunterZolomon on Nov 11, '16 21:39

Hunter still wasn't quite sure how he felt about this all. His last full-on exploit using his supernatural speed had left him stranded, incapable of using enough of the Speed Force to return on his hunt for his greatest nemesis. He wasn't quite sure where he was...or when, for that matter. Though unable to travel through time, Hunter retained not only enough of his speed to move faster than any human on earth, but his wits as well. Spending his first few conscious hours wisely, he zoomed through what he learned to be the city of Detroit at alarming speeds - quicker than the human eye could even comprehend.

Knowing that it wouldn't be prudent to waste any more time, Hunter set about with a mission of finding somewhere to sleep for the evening. After scouting out a few different areas in town, Hunter found a few that seemed to be wealthier than most of the others. Waiting for the opportune moment, he used his super speed once more in a dash behind the pockets of a young gentleman who had just exited one of the best looking houses on the block. The suit he was wearing seemed extraordinarily expensive, and he was quite sure the fellow was rich. As Hunter soon found out, rifling through the mans pockets in a split-second and finding $5,000, he was correct.

Hunter sped away into the night, leaving the gentleman he'd robbed none the wiser. Mere seconds later, he found himself blocks and blocks away - in front of what seemed to be a hotel. Walking in, he requested a room for the evening and shoved over some of the money he'd stolen without asking how much the room was. Judging by the shocked look on the employees face, Hunter realized it was probably much more than needed. Getting his key and giving the worker a quick nod, he set off for his room and slept for a solid twelve hours.

Having slept extremely well, Hunter awoke feeling thoroughly refreshed. He knew he still wasn't going to be able to return home though, and that living out of a hotel wasn't the best of options. Wanting to fit in, he mentally flipped through as many of the peoples' clothing from last night as he could remember - specifically those who had been around the neighborhoods he'd deemed 'wealthier'. He was pretty certain he remembered enough to assimilate properly, at least in regards to what the wealthy folk wore.

With that in mind, Hunter showered and headed down to the lobby of the hotel. He was desperately in need of something to eat, and he knew that at a hotel like this there was bound to be food available. Asking the first available person that looked like they worked there where he should go, they directed him to a door to the far right of the lobby. Thanking the woman and heading through the door, Hunter's stomach growled the instant the aroma of food hit his nose.

Choosing a table that he could overhear multiple conversations at, Hunter ordered his food and sat gathering information. The longer he waited for his food, the more frustrated his stomach got, however his thirst for knowledge was getting quenched more and more by the minute. He'd already ascertained that alcohol was illegal, though not that hard to obtain. An elderly couple two tables behind him let it slip that the Mayor had been seen taking bribes. Two of the waitresses passing by were discussing a murder they'd seen recently by someone in one of 'The Family's'.

Finally his food arrived, and he dove in unceremoniously, bewildering a few of the patrons. As he ate, he thought to himself about all that he had overheard. He was a fairly astute individual, and could tell that there were some shady things going on around this city. Finishing his meal in an inhumanly amount of time, Hunter left a $20 on the table and exited the hotel in search of a decent tailor. It didn't take long, thankfully, as he accurately recalled the proximity of a shop he thought looked like one last night.

The place wasn't very busy, but had a small amount of people mulling about. Waiting his turn, Hunter sat down in one of the seats that were lined up against the wall and did one of his favorite things - collected information. "Well known mobsters gunned down over past weekend" one of the workers mumbled under his breath, shaking his head in what looked like disgust. Hunter merely blinked, having already had an inkling that the Mob had a hold on this city. He grinned momentarily, as one of the workers came to assist him.

Walking out of the shop with a fresh suit, and interesting information, Hunter wasn't quite sure what to do. Deciding to walk around and see if he could come up with any inspiring thoughts, he looked down and saw a newspaper on the ground. Though usually the press wasn't entirely reliable, Hunter picked it up anyway. The Kate Logan Review: Issue Four - by Kate Logan.

What he learned from that paper was that there were in fact multiple cities that were highly affiliated with mob activity...That was intriguing. Hunter chuckled, realizing the only money he currently had was obtained via theft - he was already fitting in quite well it seemed. Knowing that there was so much more to learn Hunter did some scouting, and after a few hours he'd been tipped off to head towards West Montcalm Street and Park Avenue. Doing so in an instant, he paced up and down the block anxiously.

It didn't take long for the author of the newspaper to exit the building - though Hunter already knew she was more than just that. She ran one of the Crews out of Detroit, and it was the combination of legit businesswoman and crook that drew Hunter to her. After an extended conversation, Hunter was accepted on as an Associate for The Paragons.

It barely even registered that he would have to pause the hunt for his nemesis - Hunter felt he could keep plenty busy learning the ways of this world, and hoped that he'd chosen right in KateLogan to teach him.
