I don't know if anyone of you have noticed that some members here have chozen to retire when a big war breaks out and realize that they will probably die.

After putting so big effort to build a strong character they decide to change their status profile to "retired" and don't go fallen with the others.

I just wanted to know if there's a reason for this behaviour?

This is something i can understand, however, it can be done by all players and the game interest disappears.

We also have been faced many times with situations where a mobster out of respect for their leader to pop them DUE  to lack of interest on current affairs. Ultimately what creates the disappearance of interest is a two fold problem. Perhaps three fold.  I do not need to explain further.

Every opinion needs to be respected.

By retiring, they get the satisfaction of not getting killed in the game and to them it looks like an honor to just step down and the tag 'retired' is added to their profile instead of 'dead'

Kind of like the MR version of taking your ball and going home in a huff. 

Honestly it's more like putting your tail between your legs and running away from your character.

Simple solution. Implement something that stops the incest of the same old upper echelon.  When one of the same old leaders  gives their RH wings (who is only a few days old) then replaces their RH with a few days old mobster (screwing the RP aspect) and all the while over looking the peeps who been working their ass off is a turn off.

Why not let families move in w/o having to join one of the current?

Interesting choice of words, OhMercedes, surely it's nepotism you speak of and not incest. Only recently, under the watchful eyes of the now deceased RobOakheart and ChristianGato did we see a radical change that allowed 'hard workers' to find their own wings and set up in the formally free cities. Surely this is evidence that it wasn't the same old upper structures running the show. As to CL's choosing their RH, regardless of age (generally, they have to be within a certain rank to even take up an RH position) Any CL worth their salt will choose people for this position wisely, from a stock of people they know and trust, who they feel will have their backs without an ulterior motive. After all, this isn't a democracy. Within each crew there is a limit on these lofty positions, two out of a potential 39 that could take the positions. That's not to say that hard workers aren't good enough, it's a matter of math as well as the obvious 'who you know'.

As to the topic at hand, retiring is certainly frowned upon in many respects, much like suicide but sometimes, as Squishy said, it is a complex choice that the greater community is not privy to, however curious some may be to get the gossip in such events. It is a choice, much like a choice to rogue or start a coup or maybe even to mutiny.
