Disorder had done his vomit inducing training session for the day. Fitz worked him harder and harder each time in the build up to the new tournament. Once he'd then done his obligatory ten minutes talking to HighPitchEric about the exercise journey he'd never embark on and the dietary changes he'd never make, he left the gym and met LuciusSweet for a meeting about upcoming events. Things were on the up for the family, Vegas was a booming city, the boss' projects were all filling out nicely and everyone in the family was doing their bit to help out. 

This got Disorder mulling over the various attributes a mobster needs to succeed. What a family as a collective needs to be a successful unit. He knew his own family was 'speshul' but he wondered what others had found from their own experience and observation. He strolled down the strip to where some carpenters were erecting the promotional platform for the Fight Night weigh-ins. Heading up to the mic he tapped it loudly and tested it out.

"So... What do you bring to the table? What have you got that contributes to the health, business, humor and balance of your family? I'm not talking about cash, we all do that or we wouldn't be here. What else do you do to justify your place and make you an asset rather than a passenger?"

He looks around at some of the faces stopping to listen.

"Here in The Farseers we have an interesting collection of 'mobsters', if you can call them that. The Made membership is comprised of quite a diverse collection of personalities and skill-sets. Again, I'm not talking about the standard earning power and general skulduggery we all take for granted, I mean a wide range of attributes that combine to make our leader reluctant to to blow our worthless heads off. Its Fitz's tolerance for extreme personality disorders combined with an inspired understanding of character matching, that makes our unique blend of dysfunctional psychotics work so well together."

He glances over at Lucius who is chuckling to himself about the life and death precipice some of his crew mates walk daily. 

"So my question is two fold really; What is it you bring to the table? And what is it that makes your family special or different?"

Taking care to get down from the decidedly unstable platform, he wanders over to stand with the family's principal promoter.

It's an interesting one isn't it Disorder - and each family that my ancestors have historically graced have taken different approaches.

Some have looked for earnings - and I'm not talking about nickels and dimes, I'm talking about only rating the guys that bring home bags of the stuff. Of course this brings the pitfall of a family that contributes to a supreme leader, but where the foot soldiers may go unprotected themselves and do not live prosperous existences.

Others have rated the ability to build a gun - sure, an asset at times, but Christ! surely just because someone has shown themselves to be cold hearted killer isn't reason enough to sick them on fast-track to Captain...if anything on its own it should raise eyebrows.

Finally, others are entirely centred around the contributions that their members make to the wider society - I begin to applause, but street presence can never be enough - a sharp tongue won't save you if you turn down the wrong side alley.

So I guess it's clear - your boss rates you for being a well rounded mafioso, displaying a mix of these qualities. Interestingly, before setting up for myself my previous employer Senza operated a clearly defined structure - a combination of thresholds for earnings, street presence and other qualities that brought value to the family. Of course in reality even hitting these benchmarks needed to be accompanied by the right gut feel - the willingness to vouch for you.

With no made men in my own family as of today, perhaps it is too early for me to say precisely where I will be differentiating. But I would be interested to hear from others - I'm always open to a good idea.

Risq listened nervously, wondering whether a propensity to relieve family members of their extra valuables fell under the category of 'worthwhile contributions'. 

Oh well, she had a lot to learn. One of these days she'd become so rich that she would eventually only steal for the fun of it....

I say this from my perspective, not Don Logan's perspective, but I haven't done anything to warrant being shot. Upon my venturing into this life of crime, her and I spoke about what was expected, what she looked for, and what I wanted to accomplish. A legitimate back and forth occurred, and a understanding was formed. I know what my place is within this organization, and I also know my life could be ended on a whim, if she so desires.

Maybe I'm alive based upon potential, something Don Logan sees that could be useful to her in the future. Or maybe I'm alive because she isn't a trigger happy murder. It's really hard to say, but I know this much, I'm greatful to be alive, and working within her organization.

BrotherHec rushes over to disorders corner and hears him speaking publicly to the masses. 

Well Disorder i think this is a good moment for everyone to have a brief Check Yourself. For me its kind of simple. Deces doesn't shoot me because the Godmother of Northside knows how much she can trust me and depend on me. I have proven time and time again that her safety is my number one concern and have made sure every member has agreed that loyalty to her comes first. 

I continue to tribute the money that is required of me. I continue to lead to the best of my ability. If i make mistakes i apologize or fix them immediately. I dont allow myself to settle into mediocrity and i think thats the biggest one.

Leaders love ambitious followers. No one wants to have a group of people who are lukewarm about their practice. I certainly dont. Having a crew full of inactive soldiers is disheartening. Having people ready to go at a moments notice to protect you or talk with you is one of the greatest things as a leader. I have a family, The Regime, who are just active and consistent in improving. Im not sure if i know of one person who is not charged with bettering themselves. 

SO on the flip side. Why dont i put a bullet through my members? They tribute. They do what i ask. They speak to me like a friend. They are ambitious. They are so very loyal. They make me a better person. 

I hope this was insightful Disorder. 

Mikhail stepped forward to further give his opinion. 

"While everyone may have their own belief in why their Boss keeps them around, I believe my Boss keeps me around because of our forefather's experiences together. A long time ago our great, great, great, you get the point, grand fathers worked together in New York. While they may not have had the exact same relationship as they do now, they were indeed great friends. MavisBeacon knows he can count on me, knows where I've come from, my experience, and knows I'll always have his back no matter what.

I believe trust and loyalty are the hardest thing to find in this 'thing of ours'. Everyone these days has their coffee shop friends and don't mind jumping ship to save face with those. I think those two attributes are exactly what keeps a family close knit, and even excel."

Mikhail takes a step back so he can hear others give their opinion.

I think its an interesting question and a good on at that. I think that a person cant fully answer the question though. And i say that because you dont really know what your boss is thinking, you cant second guess his or her actions, all you can do is bring what you can to the table and hope that its what is required and needed of you. I suppose all you can do is work with the strengths that you have. 

Personally, from a mechanics Point Of View,  i know that i bring a wealth of experience and my linage is very well versed in pretty much all ways of our life and i think that my boss knows that i can offer advice and expertise on pretty much everything that this world has to offer. So in a family environment my Boss knows that should he need me to fill any gaps anyone has, i am more than capable of doing so. I think its that safe knowledge that he can rely on me to fill those gaps should he be not around. A kind of go-to person within our set up. That doesn't make me expendable, not in the least but it does help to cement my claim to be apart of the organisation.

From a skill set Point Of View i dont think i have a greater deal than the next person. In some ares prolly less, i dont earn half as much as i probably should but money that i make is put into elsewhere. I know my boss isn't a particularly lead by money, which works well for me.  Also even though im not a person that has a focus on lineage, id like to think that over the years we have earned the right to sit in certain circles and those circles have a value that allow me to progress. Me and my current Crew leader have a long standing family tie and no matter what way its looked at, it stands for a lot in this world. Dont get me, if i fuck up, i fully expect to be killed for it. 

Also, i originate form across the Atlantic, from a place in the United Kingdom call Liverpool. We are affectionately known as Scousers and every one knows that if you kill a scouser you get 100 years bad luck and your hub caps will never, ever be safe again.   

Jennie looked around and shrugged, "Because if she shot me, no one would make her go to bed at night and she'd never fucking sleep." she said about KateLogan. 

Thomas shrugged, "Because she likes when I mess wit' Jennie an' boop her nose. It pisses 'er off an' makes KateLogan laugh."

He boops Jennie's nose. And runs away.

Sputtering she crosses her eyes to look at her nose, now freshly Booped. "I blame HunterZolomon for this entirely" she muttered before stalking off. 

Veronia hears everyone's responses and nervously waks up adds to the discussion. 

I think that the reason MY Boss doesn't shoot me is more then likely one to three combinations of things; One which is moreso theoretical for the forth.

Number 1: I do not disrespect and or cause any reason for being shot.. least perhaps in my own eyes. As long as you stick to the rules there should not be any reasons for such actions.  I don't have much as far as experience previously in the community.

Number 2: I believe that as long as i bring my skills and my participation along when it is needed. keeps me from being Shot. 

Last but not least. I believe that as long as there is a need to keep expanding and growing as a community, i will always be needed. Now will i be alive later on? Perhaps not.. but it is only by these things and FATE that im here giving my opinion.
