Good evening, I need the help of anyone who knows and considerable amount about the American civil war and can help me to write a 10,000 word dissertation as a part of University degree. As it is a serious document study I ask that only those serious about helping reply to this thread.

Im not asking anyone to write any part of the work, I merely require sources and information.

My area of study is the effects of scorched earth policy during the Civil war most notably in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Any information on scorched earth during the civil war at any battle would be helpful.

In the American Civil War, General Sherman utilized this policy during his March to the Sea. It was also used by the Confederates to destroy any items that could have been used by Sherman's advancing army; this may have contributed to the burning of Columbia. In another event in that conflict, Union General Order No. 11 (1863) ordered the near-total evacuation of three and a half counties in western Missouri, south of Kansas City, which were subsequently looted and burned. Under Sherman's overall direction, General Sheridan followed this policy in the Shenandoah Valley (and subsequently in the Indian Wars of the Great Plains).

As much as i appreciate that reply I cant cite wikipedia as a source as it would result in a fail. Any thesis that cites wikipedia gets a 0.

I think this is probably the wrong place to be asking about dissertation help. 

I know this guy, his son had to do a report on Abraham Lincoln. Well a few days later his son comes home with the report in his hand with a big fat F on it...he asked him where did you get your information...he says WIKIPEDIA....so yes I would stay far from wikipedia if I were doing a report.

I suggest that you consult Google Books for sources. They're just digitized copies of books, and I'm sure several books on there will have been written right around that time period... so they should be useful.
