The Logan Review: Special Edition

More People Missing throughout Detroit; Cops in the dark

I realize that it is unusual to see the Logan Review take to the streets again so soon after the latest edition. I do so only with great urgency and I moral imperative to share the truth. We have kept our silence on this matter as requested by Mayor Thompson, but this is no longer possible.

Our sons, our daughters, our friends, our neighbors. How many more need to go missing before we can sound the alarm? Can this newspaper truly serve the public interest by withholding information that might save lives? The simple answer is no.

Loyal readers, you know The Logan Review does not peddle in hyperbole or histrionics. To that end, I will do my job despite the wishes of "Detroit's finest" and city hall. The truth will not be hidden any longer from you.

The city of Detroit has recently followed a curious pattern regarding population growth. New residents come to our streets every day. Hopeful faces seeking fortune. And yet many of them disappear.

It has been easy enough to rationalize away. Detroit has had its fair share of criminal element, which perhaps eliminated a few. People move away for greener pastures all the time, sure. But why, I ask you, is the only place they seem to relocate to the city's morgue or its cemeteries?

We have had an alarming number of our citizens go missing. They haven't remained missing though.

The "official" statement from Police headquarters is no comment. An unofficial source within the ranks tells a different tale. Bodies have been recovered. Whispered allegations of torture, dismemberment, and evisceration have been hinted at.

Do you begin to understand why so many of our funerals have been of the closed casket variety?

I truly believe that our police officers are doing everything they can. I have personally seen the behind-the-scenes activity. The long hours, the boots on the ground.

It is not enough.

When your police force can no longer keep you safe where else can you turn? I implore you, we must turn to one another for help. If the law can no longer keep us safe, then it falls to the outlaws to accomplish this task.

This story became all too real today when I learned of the disappearance of one of our own employees. The family of beloved typesetter and longtime resident Dominique Undayan, known to many as DU30, has revealed he never came home last night. The worst is feared in light of recent developments.

Please. If you have any information regarding DU30, or any other disappearance, I ask that you send it to me here at The Logan Review. We can not overstate the importance of any possible lead. Your identity will remain confidential.

Body Parts in the River Wash Up... and used for pranks?

As we start this Advent season we face more adversity. Yet another foot has washed up on the banks of the Detroit River in what is becoming an all too often occurrence.

The newest arrival came early this a.m. as fishermen were taking up favored spots along the shoreline. The gruesome discovery was only the latest in a string of found limbs in what has come to be known as cadaver carp colloquially due to their proximity to the water.

University of Michigan historian Peter Freuchen explains:

"Having arms and legs wash up on the beach, while unsettling to say the least, is not that uncommon in an area that has had as many historical shipwrecks as Detroit. The bodies go through a process known as saponification - the fatty tissue literally turns to soap - and none of the scavengers will eat it. They survive intact for years, eventually making their way to land."

Not surprisingly local pranksters have taken to collecting these limbs and dropping them off at various points throughout the city. Perhaps looking to scare unsuspecting passersby.

Enough is enough, guys. Let the dead rest.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $500,000 Tip

HighPitchEric  waddles over to KateLogan, perspring profusely from his walk over to her.  He has just read The Logan Review Special Edition.  The ink has run and smeared on his copy iof the paper from his clammy hands.

A GREAT READ AS ALWAYS DON KATELOGAN.  PERHAPS A MORE FITTING TITLE WOULD HAVE BEEN SPECIAL LOCAL EDITION?  THAT'S JUST MY TWO CENTS. I AM A LONG TIME SUBSCRIBER AND FAN OF YOUR PAPER.

Report Post Tip

Drinking my morning coffee, I grabbed a special edition Logan review and began reading. While reading a lot of thoughts were swirling in my head. Thought about the new construction in the tower, and all the new business it would bring. Thought about a new place to dump bodies as the Detroit river seemed to be more populated then I thought.

I chuckled a bit as I read. It was amazing to me to know that Ms. Logan had the power to put someone in the river, and then write about it being tragic... and have so many fans of her paper. I couldn't blame them though, She was talented to say the least. I put the paper down after reading.

"Ah Ms. Logan, you are quite the talented writer aren't you?."

It was a great way to start the morning, I hoped to see more of the special editions... then again I knew writing these papers was no easy task.

Report Post Tip

Mercedes reads the special edition as she sits in her converted living space within the Distillery. Coffee in hand and wrapped in a robe, her mouth hangs ajar as she reads, each section more bizarre than the last. Finally, as she reaches the last piece regarding Svetlana at the bathhouse, she spits coffee everywhere and starts laughing unncontrollably.

That Katie.
