| The point of life | Started by: swalinny on Dec 05, '16 16:09 |

Swalinny was walking, thinking about a question she had heard: "What is the point of life?". Many thimes in her lifes Swalinny had thought about that. A lot has happened in her life and that's why she had tought about it. She was walking into the park close to her home and looking around her. The park was green and flowers were everywere. Still it was a dark time and she didn't have a great feeling about anything. Life is something special and most times it's great, but not always. What if life was just a dark hole. Swalinny had never felt like life had a point. And if it does, would you really want to know what it is? Is it really that necessarythat you know it? What would you do with the answer, sell it? It has always been a struglepoint for her. So she wonderd what other people would think about it. Maybe they thought it is a very important. She shouted around asking People. "Hello, i would like an opinion on something. Would anyone like to share his or her opinion?" She just stood there waiting. |

Kate stopped as she heard someone ponder the essential question. She smiled. "I'll try to actually give you and answer. More importantly, I'll try to give you a short one and not ramble forever." She looked up at the grey sky at gathered her thoughts. "What's the point of life? The point is that you get to decide that for yourself. Some people choose the pursuit of knowledge. Some people choose the pursuit of pleasure. Some people seek love. Some seek power. Some seek money and material goods. Others either partially or fully shun this world, choosing instead to live for another world. There are millions of options" "You make your choices and shape your narrative as best you can to set your goals and live to try to hit them. And it's never too late to recalibrate." "And whatever you choose- the point of life is that you get to make that choice." "What did I choose? Well, perhaps I need a few drinks to answer that question." She smirks. "But that's my answer, swalinny." |

She listens to what KateLogan has to say. "Perhaps it does depend on the person you are talking to." I, myself, don't really think there is a point to life. We are all born, reproduce and die. Nothing meaningfull, nothing spiritual and nothing special. We all end up in the ground were the earth does the rest. I don't feel like anyone else would be affected by our life. In a few noone will even remember us. We will all just be a photo in some box were occacionaly someone looks at." "That's how i feel about the whole question." She glances at the sky and smiles. It is just a question. |

There is most certainly a point to life. Yes we all will end up in the ground eventually, but its what you make of yourself until you end up there. The only way you will not be remembered is if you don't make anything of yourself in the time you have here, so its important to make every second count... no matter which lifestyle you choose. Becoming a photo in a box... that statement you made is not bad either, think of it this way... who is looking at that picture?. I you make yourself known, a lot of people will stare at that photo and think of the memories you made. If you walk through lie thinking it has no purpose... then your life will have no purpose. Lie is what you make of it. |

It sounds like that's a choice you're making- not objective truth. As I said earlier, I believe that people get to define their own meaning. You're correct in saying that each individual person may not affect the cosmos. Or their planet. Or country, or even state. Hell, most people might not even make an impact on their town? But so what? It's perfectly fine to view yourself as a bunch of meat, a "fair creature of an hour" whose time is essentially insignificant. But why are you measuring on the scale of the universe or the planet? Measure your meaning on the scale of your own single life. Even if you view yourself as a statistical improbability who shouldn't exist, why not do something with the opportunity- by setting your own scale? We'll all be forgotten, we'll all be photos in a box? So what? I'm not a photo in a box right now. I don't care if no one remembers me in 100 years: I'm focusing on my making my impact on the people I care about now. I'd rather have a hundred people fucking devastated at my funeral because of our deep, meaningful relationships that live a lonely life of "greatness" and wind up in a history book. |
