| Body Parts in Detroit | Started by: KateLogan on Dec 07, '16 01:26 |

Kate scowled as she stood on the bridge with the Detroit River running underneath her. Normally, holding someone's hand on a bridge was a more romantic scene- but in this case the hand wasn't attached to anything else. There wasn't any blood, perhaps due to the temperature, and she turned it over to examine it. She'd seen a lot of shit but... this was rough. Noticing the ring on the hand, she sighed and dropped it into a paper bag before peeling off her black leather gloves and tossing them in as well. Silently, she handed the paper bag to Jack, her silent bodyguard, and returned to the nearby black sedan. Jack opened the door before climbing in the driver's seat himself. Kate climbed into the back, where she seated herself next to Jennie. "Jennie, get me Detective Hendrickson on the phone when we're back at the office. I want to send him this... evidence. See if they can get anything from it. Not that we're usually in the business of helping the boys in blue- but this is a special circumstance." Jennie jotted down a couple notes before speaking. "So that hand... it was...?" Kate nodded. "Someone's been killing our people. Civilians, too. Body parts have been showing up all around the city. Cops are saying it's a prank- some college egghead is talking about preserved bodies from whenever showing up. But our organization is starting to see people drop off the map. Not the inner circle- not the most active ones- not yet at least. But that hand? That was Weedo, if you remember him." Kate leaned back, crossing her legs and staring forward as Jack drove through the city. "Someone's coming after us. And I intend to figure out why." |

As Kate returned to the doors of the Paragon HQ, she narrowed her eyes as she saw a piece of paper on the door. It was held there by a dagger with an eyeball resting on the horizontal blade. Kate walked up and read the paper, her face expressionless. When she was done, she opened the door and walked in, slamming it behind her and sending the eyeball falling to the ground.

Things were finally starting to calm down, and the mess that was the Paragon's leader's office was finally sorted and organized properly. Jennie had been sipping her morning coffee and munching on her overly healthy breakfast of a slice of leftover birthday cake when the door opened up. She quickly picked up a stack of mail, shuffling through it as if she was organizing it. She looked up and grinned at her boss after a few moments, just to show how truly engrossed she was in her job. She knew they had to go over the to-do list for the day, which was her favorite part as she rarely actually ever had to do anything, which was nice. But when she opened her mouth to ask Kate if she wanted a cup of coffee before they started she saw the look on the woman's face. "Whoa, Kate. Is everything alright?" she asked her friend. |

Kate stormed past Jennie and half growled, half yelled. "Get the paper, the knife, and the fucking eyeball off the fucking door. Leave the letter in the HQ, send the knife and the eyeball to Hendrickson." She slammed the door to her office. |

Her eyes went wide, as this might be the angriest she'd ever seen her boss get. Quickly pulling a pen out of her bun she bent over and scribbled, saying out loud, "Right, Paper...Knife...Ey.." she stopped and blinked a few times. "EYEBALL?" she shrieked, shoving her chair back from the desk, her coffee spilling over the rim of her mug onto the paper. "Eyeball?" she said again looking at Kate's door and then the front door. "Is it at least in a box or jar?" she yelled before taking a few steps towards the door. "God sake, this is NOT what I signed up for," she said to the empty room before yanking the door open and then letting her eyes fall on the one eye that was there. "Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?" she yelled into the office. "Are you...Are you having a god damn laugh?" She added. This might get her killed, but she wasn't exactly thinking straight. She went to Kate's office and knocked once before throwing the door open, not even caring that it slammed into the wall. "What the fuck is that?" she yelled, jerking her thumb in the direction of the front door. "Look, Kate. I know, I know that when you hired me I asked you what kind of fuckery you got up to. And we shared a laugh. We bonded. But this is NOT what I fucking agreed to when you hired me. You don't pay me nearly enough." she said looking over her shoulder towards where the offending orb was waiting for her. |

Kate looked up from the book she'd opened at Jennie with a look the younger woman had only seen a few times- usually before someone got shot. Kate silently opened her desk drawer, filled out a check, and waved Jennie forward as she slid it across the desk. "There. Now you make enough. Now pull yourself together and go get the goddamn eyeball. I've got a serial killer writing me letters and threatening to come after our people. Get the eyeball and the knife, put it in a bag for Hendrickson and send it over. Post the letter in the HQ. I want everyone to know what's up." Kate wasn't angry as she turned her attention back to the phone book- but her mind was already elsewhere. "Now, Jennie." |

She took the check and looked at the number written on it and then opened her mouth...shut it again...opened it. shut it. Opened it. Shut it. She wanted to say something, was dying to say something but figured now probably wasn't the best of times. She turned on her heel and headed back out to where the most disgusting task she's ever had to deal with waited for her. She stared at the open door and sighed, "I might get paid enough, but I really don't want to do this." she muttered to herself before looking around the office for something she could put the eyeball in. She sighed when she realized the only thing she had was her lunch bag. Moving to the desk she picked up the bag and dumped her sandwich and the other lunch foods out on her desk. "Not like I'm going to be able to eat after this." she thought to herself as she moved to the door. She scanned the note and then frowned, making a note to sit down and talk to Kate about what was really going on. She grasped the handle of the knife and tugged it out of the door, trying hard not to dislodge the eyeball. She dropped the knife and the eye in the bag while the note fluttered to the floor. Bending down she picked it up before gently placing it in the bag. "Right, Henrickson and then to the bank," she said as she folded the lid of her lunch bag over. "And then to the store, because I'm going to need a new one of these," she muttered before moving back into the office and pulling her coat from the back of her chair. Draping it over her arm she called out, "I'm going." to Kate before heading out to drop everything off. |

Kate picked up the phone and called Hendrickson, speaking quietly and letting him know that Jennie was coming- and what she had with her. After hanging up, she called The Paragon Tower. "Ya. Tell Jack his day off is cancelled. He needs to meet me at the HQ; I've got a list of books to send him out to get." Kate leaned back in her chair, thinking. She didn't really expect that books would help- but at least it'd give her a better idea of what she was dealing with. |

Thomas answered the phone, "T'ank yeh fer callin' Paragon Tower, this be Mr. O'Shannon, how ca..." He was cut off by a very perturbed sounding Kate on the other end. "Right, mhmm, Jack, nae day off, HQ, list o' books. Okay Ms. Logan. I'll send 'im ri..." Cut off again as she hung up before he finished. "Jaysus, somethin' crawled up her knickers taday." Thomas slammed down the phone with a frown. He stood from his desk and headed to the spa where Jack was relaxing with a massage. He walked into the massage parlor on floor eight, "JACK! Get up, Kate needs yeh. Nae more day off she says. Sorry boyo!" There was groaning as Thomas saw the large silhouette that was Jack sit up on a table, the masseuse's silhouette following from his...groin region. Thomas snickered, "C'mon lad, tha boss needs yeh ta go ta tha Logan Review offices." Jack got dressed and stopped as he passed Thomas, "O'Shannon." He nodded, then continued on his way out of the office. Thomas flung the curtain to see the masseuse still readjusting her uniform. He shook his head, "I pay yeh ta be professional. If yeh want ta do this job, talk ta Miss Faegan on floor ten. yeh unnahstan'?" She nodded quickly. "Good." Thomas hustled out and caught Jack, "Am goin' wit' yeh, boyo. She sounded fockin' off, an' I don'ae like it." Jack nodded, "She doesn't normally cancel my day off. Somethings definitely wrong. I appreciate the extra gun, just in case." The two hopped in Jack's car and, quietly, sped off to the Logan Review. |

She had dropped off the bag, letting Hendrickson read the note before tucking it away in her pocket for safe keeping. She had stopped at the bank, depositing the check, finally pleased to be looked upon with a bit of respect. And then she had hit the shopping mall in order to find a new bag to put her lunch in. Instead, she had managed to dally about and find a few pairs of shoes and a new handbag for herself and also one for Kate, who could use a bit of cheering up. She made her way back to the office, shopping bags in hand, and called out "I'm back!" to Kate before dropping the bags on the floor behind her desk. She rummaged through one of them, pulling out the black bag she had picked out for her boss and hid it behind her back before heading to her office. "Look," she said outside the door before opening it, "I know things aren't great right now and you have a lot on your mind. But I thought this might make you smile, if only for a moment." she said as she pushed the door open, moved into the office and dropped the purse on the desk. She eyed up her boss and realized that perhaps now wasn't the best time to be handing out trinkets of a frivolous nature. Maybe if it was a gun. or a name. Or someone's head on a stake. That might work. A purse? Probably not the best option. Blushing a bit she said, "Anyway, is there something I can do for you?" to her boss trying really hard not to look sheepish, and or swear up a storm at her own stupidity. |

Kate looked up and smiled at Jennie. They were... very different people, to say the least. But that could be a strength sometimes. Jennie's positivity had been a bit grating at first, but Kate had gotten used to it and now saw it as a resource, especially when it was paired with Jennie's competence. With everything they had to deal with an a daily basis, there were worse things to have in your life than a cheerleader. Jennie was always there when Kate needed her, so the Don played along for as much as she felt she could. Which, to be honest, wasn't that much. But still, she tried. "Thank you, Jennie. I appreciate the thought. I like it. I really like it." She placed the purse on the corner of her desk. "Make sure anyone who shows up to the HQ knows what's going on. Post that note somewhere where everyone can see it. Did Hendrickson say anything to you?" |

Mick walked into the hq "Hey Jennie, hey boss, I noticed that note, if you want someone to get some information I'm available, in the military we did some stuff that is quite cruel, stuff involving instruments of pain, if someone is threatening us I will put those experiances to use and do my best to help the family in any way possible". Mick notices his colleagues looking at him strangley. "Hey, not all of us Canadians are nice to everyone". Mick says with a laugh. |

ANOTHER PART FOUND Vito quickly glossed over the article as the writers were reporting about finding a hand somewhere on a bridge of a recently deceased man and were going on about how more and more people that were going missing were turning up dead days later and that the bodies were missing a part or two once they were actually found. Vito headed upstairs to where the real business, the business that he belonged to had it's Headquarters. He was approaching his boss's office which was usually open unless she was handling business or in a meeting. No one who wasn't supposed to couldn't get up here anyway because of Jack. Speaking of Jack he was missing today as usually he was either posted on the stairs or in front of Kate's door, but he wasn't at either location and you don't just miss a guy of that size. Seeing that his boss's door was closed he imagined she was in the middle of something, so he'd have to wait. He knocked on the door and announced himself. "Hey Boss, it's Vito. I'm out here should you need anything I'll be around for awhile!" Vito spoke loudly through the door. He then turned to one of his guards and told them to ring up one of his guys and get some extra men here. There was a killer on the loose and he wasn't one to take things lightly. With Jack being away, he wanted this place extra protected so he'd have some of his men fill in the gap until Jack got back. He also told another guy to use another phone and call Tony at his restaurant to let him know he would be late today. Then Vito took a seat and continued to read the paper and wait until either his boss called him or she finished whatever business she was handling in her office. |

Kate wandered out of her office, waving for Jennie to follow her. It was probably better that she was available for people to chat with anyways. Heading to the lounge in the HQ, where Vito_Scaletta was reading. "Vito. Heard the good news, huh?"

Vito heard his boss enter the lounge and ask him a question. Hearing her he put the paper down and stood out of respect. He got a good look at her and she looked very very bothered. And Jennie too. He frowned seeing the toll that this was taking on them both. "Hey, boss. Hello there, Jennie. Yeah I've heard the news. I had my eye on it since the other day when you wrote up that special edition of the paper. Some stunod is out here killing people and chopping them up and leaving parts of the body all across the city. Word is the cops just found a hand on a bridge. A fuckin' hand. Heard he was one of ours too? Hadn't been heard from in awhile, but still was workin' with us. And seeing the looks on your faces I take it things aren't getting any better huh?" |

I walk into the office to find Kate quite displeased with her new wreath that was hanging from her door. "First off, hello everyone. Secondly WHAT THE FUCK! I come here to talk to Ms. Logan about her upcoming paper, and I see a fucking eye ball on the floor... and a note on the door. We got body parts being scattered everywhere now or what?. Please fill me in on this!" I light a smoke and try to process what seemed to be a joke, but was without question very real. |

"Hey John relax, take it easy. This is something that I think we'd all like to know about. We're getting down to it and we'll do more as soon as we get some more information. Where are we at right now with this? Has there been any more updates? Vito asks as he looks towards Kate and Jennie. |

Jennie snorted when Vito stated he had his eye on the news. "God, you don't know the half of it," she said before sitting down in her chair. She leaned back and closed her eyes, "Its...It's been an interesting day, to say the least." she sat up and looked at Kate, "And not to rain on your parade, and give you something else to be angry about, but Hendrickson said that this isn't priority anymore." she pulled the note out of her pocket and tossed it on the desk so she'd remember to put it up in the HQ. "Said because no civilians are being killed, the department doesn't much care. Apparently, criminals are getting what they deserve." she shook her head, "I asked him if it was a vigilante, but he refused to answer me. So they're gonna keep looking, but if it's just us being targeted, they're not really going to be looking all that hard." |

"Well boss, this is a direct threat. I'll tell my people to be sharp and keep their ears out. Also I'll have a guy with a good ear to the street look into it. I smell foul play so I'll advise caution with him, but nontheless I'll have him find out what he can. For your and everyone else around here protection I've called in a few more men to watch this place over. I don't think he'd try nothing here, but ya never know and in my experience there's no such thing as bein' too careful. I'm gonna head out now and make some phone calls. See what I can dig up. You all be careful. I'll be on call if ya need me." Vito says as he gives a nod of respect to everyone in the room, then exits the room. Vito gets out to the lounge area of the HQ and with a jerk of his head 2 of the guys who were waiting on him were up and following him out the door. |
