Is there too much paranoia in this world? Started by: Conn on Dec 12, '16 00:52
"A one, a two, a one two three four!"

The drummer started off, right in sync with the bass. Conn let a chorus go, and then started off the famous "There Will Another You" theme. He then started his solo, smoothly at first, slowly garduating the intensity until he was red, with sweat coming down his face. He repeated the theme a last time before ending the song with an intense saxophone cadenza. He then cued the last note with an exaggerated swing and the band finished the song off. Conn presented the musicians that played with him, under the thunderous applause of the crowd.

"Before our last song, I had a quick question for you guys." he said, addressing the crowd. "Do you guys think we are too paranoïd these days?"

He took a pause, then started to explain his point. "I understand we are all mobsters, but should paranoia take over our life because of that? Not long ago, I explained why I think everybody should be PP friendly, and some people disagreed with me, saying that paranoia justified the fact that they mugged. I am not saying the argument is bad, I'm only wondering why are people so paranoid about these things?"

"Also, the recent take down of Detroit was due to paranoia, fear on both sides. I do not commend the actions that have been done, but I can't help and wonder if it was really necessary. If we weren't so paranoied, would Detroit still be here? This is why I ask you, everyone who can and want to hear me, is our paranoia justified or should we take a step back and appreciate our time living?"

Also, the recent take down of Detroit was due to paranoia, fear on both sides.

It was? You sound like another bitter berry who doesn't fully comprehend, or isn't privvy to the reasons behind what went on.

If paranoia is justified, then it's no longer paranoia, surely? Just to clarify I'd consider paranoia to be unjustified suspicion and mistrust of other people. If something is justified, it's not paranoia.

Sadly, you've been misinformed and now you've made yourself look a plank by coming out and labelling the Vegas leaders paranoid.

Fitz puts face to palm and shakes his head.

While I invite people to come out and share their thoughts and challenge the leadership, I do ask that people think about what it is they say before hand. That way it saves the embarrassment.

Fitz Sighs.

I will touch on the subject on paranoia though as I feel it is a word we see thrown around a lot. A friend of mine used to say:  "The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle."

I always took this to mean if you've heard a thing so many times, perhaps it's true and in this life, better to act on these things than to sit by and make a wrong decision.

As leaders we come across rumours and whispers all of the time, it's our job to ignore these things and try our best to sift through all of the bullshit that goes around and believe me, there is a lot of it. I'm sure all the leaders can attest to that too. So, if we were all truly as paranoid as you seem to think, we wouldn't have spent so long in peace and instead we'd be calling upon our hitters every day to go to war. So once more, think before you make these sorts of comments.

Dear Don FitzChivalry, I do see where you might have mistaken my opinion. I am not labeling the Vegas leaders as paranoid, I only asking to the mobsters out here if they thought there was too much paranoia. I apologize about that. And I also apologize if I was misinformed, but you can't blame me for that, as the reasons where barely talked about.

Conn, offers his hand to Fitz, for peace.

But that isn't the point of my thread, it is about paranoia. If paranoia is justified, it means that you are right to be scared of that unjustified suspicion. I understand the leaders are put through a rough task everyday, trying to judge if the comments they hear a true or false, and I think they are doing a great job. I feel that ones who should feel concerned are the ones who actually create those rumors.

Nope, no mistake. You called us paranoid. Yes, yes I can blame you for being misinformed as it is due to your own ignorance that you've not sought out the true motives behind the takedown. Instead you've jumped to a conclusion and in that conclusion you have added 2+2 and made 5 and then unfortunately you've made the mistake of relating paranoia to a recent takedown, I assume due to what you've heard elsewhere instead of asking your own leader. The ones who spread the rumours should be concerned and ironically the rumour of Vegas being paranoid is just that, a rumour. So be mindful of your own words too, especially when bringing them out to such a public forum.

I won't tolerate people coming out here, talking shit and then backtracking because of their own ignorance. Expect to be called on your bullshit.

Dear Don FitzChivalry, all my examples are supported by true facts. I find that you are jumping to conclusions fast as well, not verifying beforehand if I had talked to my CL or not. If you had taken the time to do that, you would've found out that I did not do this with ignorance.

Erroneous. On all parts.

HighPitchEric shakes his head, his gums puffy and bleeding.

IF ONLY A MAFIOSO OF SOME SIGNIFICANCE, PERHAPS A DON EVEN, WOULD COME OUT TO THE STREETS AND AT THE VERY LEAST OFFER TO DISCUSS THE REASONING BEHIND THE TAKE DOWN IN PRIVATE, IT WOULD CUT DOWN ON A LOT OF CONFUSION.

HighPitchEric sighs.

I WONDER IF MAYBE SLASH WOULD MIND ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE DETROIT SITUATION.  PERHAPS IN PRIVATE EVEN?  JUST A SUGGESTION.

BCP ponders this question and actually laughs rather loudly.

I'm sorry here Conn, but I do not think there is a ton of paranoia around our world lately. Is there some? Yes, yes indeed. But in the type of things we all do there is always some. But to be its nothing to get all crazy about here. Actually, read old newspapers of older days and this is actually a very calm time. Probally one of least paranoid times we have had in these for a long while.

BCP notices people are staring at him since he started talking with a laugh.

To be honest with you, I love the question. But doesn't really apply to the current climate of what we do. Itt is funny how you asked this, after a take down, which is right as some people believe it was paranoia and you yourself said the take down was paranoia movitated. Remember they are two unrelated things, when you group this question with that as your "evidence", then you still have some things to figure out. But to be blunt to your question, these are probally some of the most least paranoid times all the cities have seen in a long long time. Justt flip through some old newspaper if you don't believe me.

BrotherHec heard the word paranoia and immediately grows irritable.

The effect the suit has on the man is paranoia. Why is that? It is marked by the relationships and energy we put into this thing of ours and knowing that at any moment our world could be headed for disaster. We grow paranoid about what our mobsters say about us in the streets or behind closed doors. We grow fearful of what those with bigger guns and wallets think of us. So we spend our nights trying to prolong the inevitable: our death.

Paranoia is one of those sad attacks of the mind where every whisper of a thing gone wrong infiltrates and possesses us. Paranoia and protection for a city however are two different things. Allow me to explain fully.

when one is paranoid he is out for the perseveration of self. When one is protecting he is not worried about himself as much as he is worried about those he works for and with. Sure we can be victims to paranoia but I believe that every takedown that has ever occurred is first and foremost only meant for the protection of self and crew.

Ultimately one can not blame Vegas in saying it was a takedown that was wrong. Their intentions were to keep a city of hard working gamblers and scousers safe from potential harm. One must always ask themselves in the position of leadership questions that force them to act on the betterment of their employees. If it was Detroit who removed Las Vegas for power it would have definitively been because they knew they would not be secure with the presence of such a future force at hand.

Why is this essential to understand and agree with? Leaders and their decisions are not always well received by the massive public. The actions they carry out are not the most favorable from time to time but they must act to protect the people who look to surrender their lives for them. If any poses a threat it is an absolute necessity for that leader to act accordingly, hopefully without shedding of blood, but often in a world where people build guns to kill it is fixed only with blood.

Now Conn, I love seeing your presence in the streets and I believe your potential is immense, but a thing I need to say to you more than all of this is, is that no matter what your leaders choose to do, you must always support them. If you disagree with them on such a major wave you must pull them aside and express your feelings. Ultimately your leaders fought for your safety. Whether you agree with how they handled it should not be made public.

I do encourage you to keep coming out and posing these questions because again I think you have such a high potential for success in this world. I truly hope my two cents resonate with you.

The Detroit point has been pushed back pretty comprehensively, so I'll answer the question more broadly.

I think I'd have to agree with BCP here - we live in some of the least paranoid times known for quite some time. I previously questioned how long such a state of affairs could last, as inevitably all good things come to an end, but as yet there is no real evidence of deterioration.

So no, I don't think we're too paranoid. But nor do I think we're not paranoid enough (if you're still following me). I would say that the current leadership of each city and district remain very switched on to potential threats, but through regular communication (fortnightly meetings etc) we appear to be giving everyone a voice and hence limiting the potential for escalating disagreements prompting aggression.

BCP and Bonkers, I appreciate your input on the question here. I am very glad to hear that these times are not paranoid and that we are all having fun. Thank you.

Dear Don BrotherHec, I totally understand your point and I couldn't agree more with you. I guess my phrasing was bad, because you are not the first one who has talked to about that and I'll try to make myself clearer now and in the future. I was not trying to show disagreement with what my city did. In fact, I am glad they did it, because that means they care about us and our safety. But when I asked why it had happened, the answer was that there was too much paranoia on both sides, hence my question. I was not criticizing, only noticing. I truly thank you for the time you took to answer my question, as I have a lot of respect for you, and I thank you for encouraging me to pursue talking on the streets.

Word is I am a VIP up in here, so I will exercise this opportunity to express ask questions and express my wisdom. Is the term paranoia so far fetched?  If so, since when? It is duly noted via years of experience and observation  the term paranoia is a lame excuse. Correct?  Isn't it true if one is not in the loop or sucking ass one is not privy to any information?   However, isn't it a fact one does not need to be privy to see the obvious?

While I invite people to come out and share their thoughts and challenge the leadership, I do ask that people think about what it is they say before hand. That way it saves the embarrassment.

How many times has leadership and "your" leadership been embarrassed by/with intelligent questions and opted to wash out intelligent questions with a gun?

Paranoia is less then 1% of the problem.  How do you propose to fix the bullshit FitzChivalry?

Somewhat interesting thoughts HighPitchEric. And I have to say somewhat because perhaps YOU were left out the loop?! Did this cross your mind?  I don't need an answer but should you decide to answer, know I got a response.  Keep in mind your leadership answered.

Yes I think there is too much paranoia in our world and whilst we will never end the paranoia it can be contained to a certain extent.

Firstly you have to look at the reasoning why there is so much paranoia which most of the time comes down to a simple lack of communication between cities and crew leaders, secondly you will always have people deliberately trying to cause paranoia for whatever reasons, some do it because they have recently been killed and can't move on, others do it just because they are incapable of doing anything worthwhile with their sorry lives.

In this world there is only ever one outcome and that is sooner or later you will be killed it's the nature of the beast no one is invincible, some accept this and strive to achieve something before the inevitable happens, others are so scared of dying that they never really live and end up in a dark lonely existence and it's that type of mentality that paranoia flourishes on, if you are of weak mind paranoia will grip you like a noose around the neck.

At the end of the day, fitz Detroit had no plans to attack, so it was indeed paranoia. Justified paranoia possibly, but factually, the conclusion that was made with the reasons given was indeed technically paranoia.

JUSTIFIED PARANOIA WOULD SUGGEST THAT DETROIT WAS DOING THINGS DEEMED SUSPICIOUS, WHICH WAS THE CASE HERE.

I THINK IT'S OFTEN TIMES EASIER TO ASSUME PARANOIA AS THE SOLE REASON, MAKES THE  PILL EASIER TO SWALLOW.

Lancelot, I got to agree never truer words spoken. However, this is a totally a different topic at hand. The fact remains some got their heads up teir asses and are above and beyond quite a few. Surely you can explain why Paranoia is a topic but used as an excuse.

HighPitchEric first you request rationale behind the take down of DT. Then you state Dt was taken down for just reason. Your leader has n oit been around to validate your mere opinion.
