I'm curious to see what people actually want to see in the streets. What type of post always catches your attention? Which ones do you just immediately skip? 

How likely are you to read each of the following? (I'm assuming everyone would read protection orders, even if that isn't always the case.)
 

Single person stories?

Multiple person RPs?

Update on current events from a leader?

Newspapers?

Auth announcements?

Godfather congratulations?

Debates?

Obviously, this isn't a perfect categorization, but I'd love to see what the larger community thinks about this topic. Not only am I curious, but I also hope to tailor my own efforts to align with what would best engage the community. Not that I could personally pump out auth announcements or Godfather congratulations threads, but the overall point remains.

I read it all my friend.

Not every single post in every thread, as some discussions get a little OOC in my opinion, not the text itself, but the user/character starts to blur and it cooks me.

I do make sure to read the first post of everything story related thread and if the writing style and content catch me I'll keep on going till I can't go no more, which is usually if it's finished, or if the posts get a little muddled or stagnant, which I find can happen in some off the cuff roleplays between a set of friends.

I'd love to see more open roleplays for anyone and everyone to get involved in. I've tried pumping out a few but for whatever reason it just doesn't take. Maybe my writing style, or the way I outro, or the topic, etc, who knows. Maybe it's just not a big thing on here. I think people like to more hook up OOC then get to work, or others will jump in when they see a few going h.a.m and they get sucked into it too.

As to what you write, I think your approach can be a little limiting. Let me explain, as I've just experienced this in the past few days with these open roleplay type threads. My idea was to cater to others, and it just didn't work.

I find that when you write what you are truly energized and passionate to write then it will draw people in on the same vibe. At the very least, you have written something you thoroughly enjoyed writing, for you, and when you finish typing your last word you are already satisfied. Your writing has already been fulfilled, as you wrote your little heart out. If others like it, cool. If they jump on the topic and join the discussion, cool. If it gets attention, cool. But if not? Fuckn cool, it doesn't really matter as your self expression has been fulfilled already, and that alone is a great reason to write, regardless of what comes after the fact. :)

Personally I skip Godfather congratulations, and auth threads.

I enjoy the stories whether they are by  a single person or multiple. I prefer discussions where people are able to express an opinion without wondering if they will be shot for it. So the ones that are truly honest and less sugar coated and brown nosey. I want to read and see actual opinions not what people think their leaders want to hear but their own thoughts.

That is just me though. There is a wide variety  of categories I suppose and its good.

I skip everything that has no bearing on the actual flow of the game. Virtually nothing of importance happens, is discussed, or is decided in the Streets. No one says anything that may, by some unfortunate chance, impact the game; so their contributions to the Streets are meaningless. Everyone's decisions, movements, and "beef" are in WhatsApp message groups, IRC room logs, and other bullshit. Any potential conflicts in the Streets are regarded as taboo, even though in most cases your WA bullshit will get leaked to the public anyways.

Make it real. Debates about PP (and boy are there a lot of them) end with nothing changing. Even discussions between leaders have virtually no impact until a "coffee shop" meeting is arranged to really discuss it. Updates and broadcasts from leaders offer virtually no information because, and I quote, they "didn't want squabbling."

The Streets don't matter and haven't mattered for a long time. Everything of real importance is decided or discussed long before it's public. What little content that we actually get is basically PR for the leaders who gave enough fucks to write up a thread.

Cato what is your interpretation of role playing, if you don't mind me asking?

Walking the talk, Axel. If you say you're a gun-toting hothead in your post, you should shoot first and ask questions later when the time comes. If you say you're a coward and don't like violence in your RPs, I shouldn't be catching witness statements of you gunning down Durds every hour on the hour when they make an appearance. In my observations, one of two problems arises when considering RP:

• I want to be a rough, tough motherfucker but I can't because that's not acceptable. So I'll write up shit about my character that has no bearing on what I actually do, and call it an "RP". Maybe even get praised for it.
• I want to be a rough, tough motherfucker, but if I write about it and people believe it, they won't trust me. So I won't write up anything except for the most innocuous of street content.

Nearly every leader I've ever seen in this game is willing to pull the trigger to protect their people. It's assumed, practically. Yet they can't give off that persona without making every other leader anxious. So RPs are either dishonest (hey everyone its just an rp lolz xdxd) or absent (so I can have whatever persona I want without making the pussies nervous).

Real players walk the talk.

Ah, so you like to go balls deep so to speak. As in be the character to the fullest extent, both in the streets and out of it, and immerse yourself in that identity from balls to bones. I like that and I think we can all learn something from your view of role playing.

I dig those that can truly get in character and stay at it, regardless of the consequences on a game level, even if that means a bullet from role playing a hot head all the way. It's something I'm trying to do more of, and the game mechanics can be a great way to tie in the character we portray.

Didn't mean to side track, just wanted to get an idea so some of the newer folk to role playing can see your view, as there was ooc stuff mentioned in your first response and I thought some may not take it for what it is. Cheers for the response bud :)
