We all die eventually. Whats to fear? I don't fear death as such. I fear not living. Are we doing enough with the lives that we have? Could we be doing more? Thats whats really scary. Its not the actual act of dieing, its going before you have done all that you wish to do in life.

There are things id like to accomplish before I meet my maker, perhaps i'll manage them, perhaps I wont.

"I am not scared of dying, death comes to us all one way or another, whether it's a gun malfunction of whether someone tracks me down and shoots me in cold blood. Whilst I am not afraid of dying, there are things that I'd like to accomplish, personal things. There were times when paranoia kicked in for those previously running the show, with that paranoia I would most certainly say they were scared of dying too and would then take down whole cities just to live longer.

I won't get into too much detail with paranoia, I did hear others talking about it and wouldn't like to expand on it too much. It can be like a disease at times and we wouldn't want that ruining the what we have here in this thing of ours."

I have seen people so scared of death they will turn from their home city and leave or change their values and beliefs to fall in line with bigger guns and a more 'secure' future.

I think the key to the inevitable is doing it with dignity. You live by your words and actions and die hopefully with dignity and a legacy - by this I mean you made a difference in the time you lived. To be remembered and spoken of sometimes is the main thing - as they say the dead live on lips of the living.

If you are scarred to die then you are not truely living imo. To walk around all day and constately fear death would be a waste of life. So you would in effect be cheating your self and selling your life short. Plus you wouldn't enjoy the life you have,now is that any way to truely live? I don't think so nor would I want to live that way.

Me personally, I never fear death. As people know, in this thing we do, death comes to us all. Death is always at our door, knocking to get in. To me its more of what you do leading up to answering the door or do you run out the back and hope it comes back at another time.

Go after what you want and be proud of who you are. You don't have to be stupid about it and you absolutely don't need to be afraid. If you die, you die, so what? We may all claim we are not afraid of death, but we would all be lying, even if it's to ourselves.
I do not know how times have changed in this thing of ours, but when I was a wee child several years ago, I recall hearing of dozens of wars in which were sparked by fear of dying if action wasn't taken first. 

If we did not fear death, there would be no catalyst to respond to any threats that were not fully verified. A rumor, a whisper, and other coincidences would not be acted on if none of us ever truly feared death. 

We would not invest in bodyguards to protect ourselves, we would not sleep in our home cities, hell, even the sight of a name we do not recognize dropping out of their existing family will generally meet their own death within moments because of fear that they might rogue.

Shoot first, ask questions last. It's a motto to live by in this thing if ours.

So no, you can make all kinds of sensible and strategic decisions to preserve your own life and the life of others, while not being afraid it will end. Not to make those decisions would amount to nothing more than foolishness and a lack of appreciation for the life you have."

One is not truly living if they cannot ask question and raise a good debate either.

I believe a certain fear is good towards the gift of life. Often one can't fully appreciate light with the absence of darkness. One can not fully comprehend love unless they know what an abscence of care looks like. Death and life are very much intertwined together. To fully live this life you have to recognize you will not live forever. You can choose when you exit but must know that at some point, today tomorrow a year from now, you will exit. 

Fear for your life is normal. There is nothing wrong with it. Some find it cowardly to be afraid to die but the real coward is the one who never takes up his life and chooses to be all he can be. 

Do I personally fear death? I fear many things: betrayal, being excluded, criticized, abandonment, and the loss of friends. Personally I wish that when death finally reaches me it only smiles as that is what I will do in response of seeing its face. I do not fear death. I await it with hope of a new life, an eternal one. 

The fear of death is worse than death itself, overcome that fear and you will fear nothing.

A wise man once whispered these words to me and they are words I took heed to, if you spend your life worried about death then how can you ever really live? so no I am not afraid of death my only fear is not to have lived.

Seeing all these people discuss such a big topic as this made X want to respond.

Fish had been listening to what people said about death, and it made her reconsider her own opinion.

"I do not see any reason to fear death - it will happen someday to everyone. Death is just as important to life as life is to death. If we have no life, what is death?

Also, I like your points, Smarts . I believe that is what we call "fear for our safety" - I, myself, would like to live as long as possible, and in order to do that, safety is very important. In this world of ours we must protect ourselves to not be killed off by a random dude with a weak gun. If everyone in this game had the ability to kill everyone, I am sure there would be even more people taking advantage of that. And that is what brings fear to this community. 

Therefore, I am glad we have the oppurtunity to feel safer and try to live for as long and as much as we like. I am not saying the length of our life is important, but the way we live our life is. As long as I am happy with the way things are, I would like to live for as long as possible. One must not take life for granted."

Thanks,Don Lancelot! Couldn't have heard it to any the wiser! This is exactly the same thing that i was always told and still understanding and learning today. Don't be worried when you die, we all die. Instead focus on the impact on others and the future and what you do with said life.

Fear will destroy you. Fear is an emotion that can lift you up, or destroy you harshly. You may never know when death comes knocking, so why waste time thinking about such? Think about the here and now, prepare, but do not over think it. Life > Death

Don Bonkers had been away from town for a little while...upon his return he was pleased to hear that questions continued to be asked in the streets, on this occasion of a perhaps somewhat more philosophical nature.

Now, clearly no one of us wants to die and I need not elaborate on that. And as many of you have noted - we all have our own personal ambitions, things we'd ideally like to achieve before we pass.

But to me, the heart of this question lies with the words of @Tellerium - really quite on point here. I need to know that my button man does not value his own life over the oath that he has taken. I need to know that he will fly willingly into the heart of a gunfight just to protect his family. I need to know that he won't think twice...I want to know that if I fell in my sleep that he would avenge my death, even if the culprit had extended him protection.

Until you have kicked the fear you cannot operate as an effective soldier. And if you cannot function as an effective soldier then your name is but spit in the gutter.
