| The way we picture life | Started by: Conn on Dec 29, '16 02:42 |
|
Conn sits down on his couch, listening to his favorite Duke Ellington record playing. The angelic sound of the piano starts, and his mind wanders immediately, like a dead leaf in the wind. He thinks about his friends, his projects and finally comes to an interesting question. "How do you see life? Is the cup half full or half empty? I think that if we all state how we picture this wonderful life long adventure of ours and all try to understand everyone's position on the question, it would make it easier to communicate and understand certain situations. It could even help when giving advice, to understand different point of views. Personally, I view life very positively, because life is too short to be unhappy. I always try to look at the bright side of things and to not complicate my life too much, because I feel that's the way to enjoy it at it's full potential." Conn sat back, hoping other people would state their opinion to increase his understanding of life. |

The glass half full person is said to be happy, they really are not as they still see the glass as less than perfect. This puts the glass half empty person and glass half full person on the same list. Now the person who sees the glass as it is “just a glass” no matter what the state it is in, all that matters to this person is the glass does exist. In its simple existence it is wholly perfect. |

"Great way to see things, DinelasSthero!" Axel piped up from the edge of the discussion. |

My grand father, as a good host, used to say to his guests:
And it would go like that for hours, glass full then empty... For life, I would say it's the same, ups and downs. You can't just keep the drink at the middle level, or people would say you don't know to drink, if you see what I mean... |

Fate is strolling by and overhears an interesting topic. She was new around here and figured no one would be interested in a new mafioso's opinion, but then stopped herself. It's not like somebody would shoot her in the face for talking, right? Fishing a smoke out of a pack and politely accepting the light proffered by a man standing next to her (probably the same fucker who'd pickpocketed her twice in forty-five minutes' time), she took a small step forward and spoke. "I have to admit, I'm a glass-half-empty type of gal. If you assume the worst in life, you'll never be disappointed, and if something good actually happens, well, what a pleasant surprise! But let's talk more of this glass...how big is it? Is it half full of ice because I drank all of my soda? Or is is half full of gin? Because if it's even an 8 oz. glass...that's like 4 oz. of straight gin and a party waiting to happen..." |

I have exactly the same fucking opinion of life as you, dear Fate. A pessimist is never disappointed. I don't speak personally in oz. or gallons, rather in grams and hectoliters, but I think we can understand each others ideas. A life is worth living just to see what future brings. By the way, I only pp those I know, or tell I will do it before, after a permission or not. |

I see each life as a piece of art. Each piece is only finished when that person meets death. Some have more natural talent, some have to work harder to achieve the masterpiece. Some love to plan their piece, some love to throw paint on the canvas and wait to see what happens. It's amazing, it's horrific, it's stimulating, it's boring, IT'S LIFE! |

I liked your main point of view very much, too, Mastermind. I however don't agree with that part:
What the fuck do you think our parents, us, or our children are seeking to do here, in our world of ours?
I could agree with that point of view till some point of the phrase; but what is THE masterpiece? Have you achieved it? Will you ever try to? Could you define it? .... About waiting to see what happens next, I won't comment much except saying it's the case of majority, so it is indeed how things work. |

To me the glass can be half empty or half full depending on the day, but it is always refillable. Little things can make or break a day, someone you ploughed work into suiciding, a bad day at dice or not finding a cloak claiming to be of invisibility to hide from the law. The lows let me appreciate the highs, and the highs let me try and work a little bit harder and improve so i am not back at the low stage. |
