Risquay's Betrayal

Part 1

It was raining, the heavy rain was pounding onto the top of the car such that inside you'd have thought someone was attacking it with a hammer. In the back seat Risquay was sat with his head in his hands. He'd fucked up, and he'd fucked up bad.

The police officer sat with him explaining his situation to him in very plain terms.

So we have you on two counts of murder. The two bodies - former members of the Tyler Durden gang - were found in your vehicle. Witnesses saw you loading the bodies into your vehicle. You've been positively identified. It's over for you know.

On hearing these words Risquay broke. The emotions he'd been holding in his belly finally overflowed and came bursting out. He wept like a child that had lost its mother.

B-b-but I can't do time, I can't go down. There must be another way out of this. I know things - names, times, places - I can give you people, senior members of The Crazy House.

The officer paused for thought. The head of the police force in the North Side was in @Bonker’s pocket, everyone knew that. But perhaps he could circumvent the normal reporting line on this occasion - go straight to the federal agents, maybe even get rewarded with a transfer out of this shit hole once and for all.

Ok Risquay, let's see what you know.

Part 2 - Turning up the heat

Down the police station the officer had a set up a private room, off the record, and had brought in some other officers - guys he trusted, people that hated the mob and everything it stood for.

In the chair Risquay began unloading details. Scams that Utopia and Reggie had taught him, robberies undertaken in partnership with Borkers, murders he'd heard about - murders by Bonkers. The officers licked their lips. This was good stuff, really good. This single witness could potentially put away the most sophisticated crime syndicate the North Side had seen since Godmother Deces had upped and left to take on a new challenge in the big apple.

The hours passed and the pages of details piled up.

OK Risquay. I think we've got enough here to cut you some sort of deal. A new identity and immunity from prosecution for crimes past. You’ll need to testify though, on the record - in a courtroom in front of a judge.

Risquay nodded...but then something crossed his mind…

But what now? Don Bonkers will already have noticed my absence, he hasn't seen me in days.

The lead officer replied.

Tonight you come with me. As a member of The Crazy House you’ll stick out in a cell in here - so many corrupt agents these days that they’ll spring you the moment they know who they are. But I can't have you out of my sight - you're my star witness and I want to keep an eye again.

Part 3 - The leak

Don Bonkers was holding a meeting with his upper structure in the family HQ.

I'm concerned that we haven't heard from @Risqay for so long. He only served with us for a short while, but he was a very observant young chap. I guess it all comes with the territory - we need to train up fresh blood, but teaching our ways is a hands on job…

At that moment the door swung open and Reggie ran in looking white faced.

I just got word from one of my snitches - Risquay is hauled up at the police station. He spent seven fucking hours in an interview room and then left with a fed. I think we have a problem.

Bonkers leapt up in his seat and threw the table over.

MOTHERFUCKER! I want a button man on every FUCKING street corner, NOW! THAT PIECE OF SHIT DOESN'T SEE ANOTHER FUCKING MORNING!

Borkers and Utopia left the room and spoke to the captains.

Guys, time to reach out to all your associates, all of your snitches. You need to lean hard on everyone in this neighborhood. I don't care if business suffers for a little while - it's time to kill this rat or the whole game is over for us.

Part 4 - The chase is on

Reggie’s part of the North Side seemed particularly cold that night. He'd had word that Risquay had been seen in this neighbourhood. Giovanni the baker had heard a car screech to a halt outside his window and a hooded, cuffed figure ushered out of the car and into a flat.

Reggie looked up at the windows. The curtains were drawn, no light, no sign of life. He drew a long drag from his cigarette and felt his inside warm. Finally he flicked the cigarette away to the side and stepped back into the shadows.

At around 7am, his eyes still fixed on the window, he finally spotted motion - the curtain rippled and a face appeared for a fleeting second surveying the street below. It was Risquay. The rat.

The face disappeared again and Reggie made straight back to the family HQ. To report what he'd seen.

Upon his return Don Bonkers addressed the family.

My friends, Reggie has located and positively identified the rat. He's hauled up with a fed agent though and my sources say he meets a judge to formalise his deal today. This gives us a narrow window in which to carry out what must be done. This is my plan…

Part 5 - The hit

The street looked like any ordinary one. No one would ever have believed that half a dozen heavily armed men were strategically positioned with all eyes on the door to the flat.

After what felt like a year, but was perhaps just an hour of waiting the door swung open. To the horror of the soldiers of  The Crazy House
an armed guard screeched to a halt as soon as the door swung open. Officers formed a funnel from the apartment block to the vehicle and two figures hurried into the back of the car which immediately sped off within a convoy.

Fuck. They're getting away.

Utopia immediately started his engine and monotoned for as many of the crew to hop in as possible. The men drew their Tommy Guns and the car accelerated away, Reggie hanging off the side wielding his weapon.

Utopia was driving like a mad man. This wasn't subtle. It couldn't be. Ahead the police car was beginning to drive evasively. Were they compromised?

Finally they reached the courthouse. The building looked like an army base today. Borkers walked up to the gate, but wasn't allowed through. Reggie had an idea though.

Leave this with me. My girl is a typist in an office here, she can get me in.

Reggie walked back to the gate and after a few words and a brief frisk was granted access to the building. The gun wasn't coming in this journey, Reggie was completely unarmed.

Upon entering the building Reggie looked for an empty office...finally he found one and there on the desk was a letter opener. He stuffed it into his jacket pocket and headed to the floor with the judges offices.

He pushed through the heavy doors to the back stairs and flew up them like an Olympic athlete. At the top he reached a hallway began walking down it. Coming the opposite way he could see a figure flanked by two officers approaching. He dropped his head, his face obscured by his hat and gripped the shank.

At the last moment he looked up. Reggie 's eyes met those of Risquay and Reggie smiled.

Say hello to the devil for me you rat c**t.

Reggie slashes at Risquay 's throat and again into his heart. The officers freeze and Reggie sprints back the way he came. Outside the building Utopia has kept the engine running and Borkers is still speaking with the guards. Reggie throws himself into the backseat, covered in blood and Borkers slams the door behind him. They speed off. Justice has been delivered. Dat bum’s swimming with da fishes!
