“The time has come for me to step down.” The words from shocked his very core. It was not what he had expected when he was asked to meet space in his office that evening. When Roland arrived and found @Slash waiting inside as well, he knew something was up but had no idea what was about to be asked of him. Now, standing before the two men, Roland was stunned for a moment. “I have other obligations that are going to take me away from this life, Roland. You and I have been friends for a long time and I can think of no one better to take my place.” Space finished and offered Roland a drink. Taking the glass, Roland thought very carefully about what was being asked of him. He had known space-pole for a long time, true, but had wandered his way into Las Vegas only a few months prior. As if to put his mind at ease, Slash spoke up, “I’ve known you long enough to vouch for you myself. With space stepping back from the life, we need someone else here in Summerlin.” Roland took a full silent minute to process what he was being told, eyes moving back and forth between the two men. Finishing the whiskey still in his glass, he calmly stepped towards space’s desk and set the glass down. “I would be set up The Gunslingers in Summerlin.” When the men had finished their drinks and conversations, Roland took his leave. Making his way through the suburbs of the city, he let his mind wander. Sadness that his long-time friend would be stepping back from this life and what he had built was the dominant thought, followed closely by the eagerness to bring the order of Gunslingers into Las Vegas. Summerlin was one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the country, and Roland decided to continue on the lavish lifestyle. The key given to him by Slash unlocked a building that was nothing short of a fortified mansion. Letting himself inside, he made his way to the back of the building on the bottom level, to the only room with any furnishings whatsoever so far. A sparse desk sat in the back of the walnut room next to a fireplace and a large bookshelf. Removing his leather hat and lying it on the desk, Roland took a seat and reached for the phone. It was time to start bringing in the family, and he set to work. |

Congratulations, Roland. Since coming on over to Vegas you've proved your worth here. With the doors to the Scouse House nearing to closure, you were a fine choice by Space-Pole to take over from where he started. You have my full support and best wishes and I look forward to working in a much closer nature with you. |

Vinny walks in front of the fireplace, a glass of whiskey in his left hand, slightly shaking of nerves of change, and still saddened by the news of The Scouse House closing down. He stepped towards Roland. "My feelings are mixed here my friend, I am sad that Mr Pole has has to step down his duties, we all are, however when offered the choice to remain in Summerlin, or go elsewhere there is only one answer, Summerlin is my home, and I am glad to share it with you." Vinny raises his glass "To you, Roland, may this new venture be exciting and fruitful, I know you will take us good places, and I am very much looking forward to the future, here's to new friendships and adventures" |

With events still hitting the newspaper stands about the recent slew of deaths to hit this great nation, there were those that rode unfortunate events holding onto their hats of fortune. Like cowboys in the wild west, taming the beast of circumstance. It was what it was, some fell to the wayside, and others grabbed their balls and revolvers and took on the mantle of leadership. Axel didn't know Roland other than a face, a name, a fellow Summerlin resident. But, he knew what prosperity smelt like. Sometimes it smelt like roses in a garden, sometimes ale in a paradise brewery, or newly won chips at a grand casino. And sometimes, it smelt like the gun smoke from a gunslinger. Yet all the time, it smelt like fuckn Vegas baby. Axel sent over a couple knock about guys to the new mansion in Summerlin with a crate of old forresters whisky, and let them know they were to add to the new décor as heavies, security detail, as long as Roland needed them. |
