Thought.... When a person accepts an invitation to join a crew usually the person who sent the invite is notified. What if this changed? What if everyone in that crew was notified when a person joined the crew?
PROS * I think this would help establish a deeper sense of community in the family. CONS * Notifications. |

Hec, I like this. It kind of makes it more official, while being personal at the same time for each player. I think when someone joins a family, it is a moment "worthy" of an official notification. |

Yeah, I agree with this. The entire family should know that are new members joining them. :) |

| Great idea. I know when a member joins a family they are welcomed via crew chat by some, what happens when others are not on at that time? +1 for me too... | |

I know this is a game and we should make it easy because its a game... but If I take my friend to a party... I introduce my friend. Should the sponsors be introducing them? |

Well we do, but like Deces said, not everybody is going to be on whenever a new member is introduced to the crew. I suppose you could send out a mass mail to notify the crew whenever a new member has joined the crew. But that would serve the same purpose. |

Doesn't it announce it in crew chat already? Meaning anyone active at the time would see it. |

It depends. They say who you are with is how you are. It's not always the truth... If the party is of a very closed style, even those with a bunch of guarantees can't say: "hey that dude is a pal of mine, get him in" to a sponsor. Anybody could be a party breaker nowadays, and we live more and more in a world with fewer and fewer error margins... |

Honestly I think this is a bit overkill. I get the concept, but I'm leaning heavily towards what Squishy said...It should be up to the Sponsors to introduce their Associates - and if that isn't happening, Associates are perfectly capable of saying 'Hey, I'm new!' or whatever. While it is true that people might not be on when new Associates accept the invite (popping off the alert in the CC) I have found that often enough, as soon as a new name pops up out-of-color for their Crew Contacts, or they see a new green name lower on the list, people often welcome the newcomers as soon as they notice. Would this really effect much? Not really. Would it be really super annoying for a lot of us? Absolutely. So I'll end it with this - if this gets implemented, please let it be toggle-able! :P |

So I didn't have too much more to say but I read some of the comments and here's where it would get weird. Squish Squish: the problem with the party analogy is the only way to arrange the new guy to meet people like that is in an hq bar. Otherwise personally mailing each person to inform them he is new to the crew. I don't believe many sponsors will do that. It sounds great but then it would also be a lot of work. If you received one personal message from someone that said, "hey welcome to the crew! If you need anything..." boom that could create a friendship, develop that persons potential in mr, and deepen loyalty to a crew. Carmine: I don't mind you don't agree with it but I do think you saying it would not effect much is wrong. Mostly because you don't know. It could be a huge positive if you got a message that said "joe has joined your crew." If everyone received a message that said carmine had just joined it would be neat to revive several personal welcome messages to the crew. So often we see people suicide and one of the top reasons is they didn't know anyone in their crew. The biggest reason I support this is to retain new players. Often times we get this idea that an associate is really just the sponsors so perhaps they are close friends and an incog. I think if everyone received a message that a player has joined their crew the crew members will take more ownership in their crew and be more aggressive in reaching out to others. All in all there would be a massive growth in fellowship with the game. Will some people want to toggle it on or off? Sure they should have that option in my opinion. |

I think that it might not make the big impact you may think Brother :) You'd still need to have some kind of 'ideal' in place that people in the crew should message these new members, otherwise, they probably won't. In the same token, you can have another system in place that does what you are trying to achieve through a more hands on method without putting the responsibility on a future added game mechanic. Simply, if you had a system in place within the family that certain members had to meet and greet new members, then that would do what you are wanting the result to be. Because, you'd still need this same system in place for members to take that personal notification and MM those new crew members. The notification might seem like a good option, yet without the people power behind it, and people instructed or pushed to MM those new members, it might just be another notification that is simply that, a notification. Crew members that are online at the time are the best option to greet new crew members, and the notification happens in the Crew chat for real time meeting and greeting. I think this works well. Beyond that, you could create a family based buddy or new member development system that then has deep contact and grooming involved with it. I understand where you're coming from, but in my opinion I think you may be relying too much on a game feature that should be a human feature. Whoever has sent the invite should be properly schooled on handling new members, and I think this very first point of contact and their relationship building techniques should be the main focus. I still think your suggestion is valid and sound, and I support it if it had a toggle option, but it may not give you the desired result you're looking for on its own. I think it'll be handy, but not necessarily game changing in the way you'd like. |
