It was a Hot and Ready night Started by: Argyle on Jan 24, '17 20:36

1908 - Philadelphia Petting Zoo

"Gnnnnnuuu Gnnnnnnnnuu", the sound clattered and clashed throughout the entire area. The sound reverberated from the start of the mahogany fence all the way to the parked stable of horses which were dropping off men and women alike to the affair. Usually, these things were meant for children and the young at mind - but today it was where Argyle would find something he had never wanted.

Making his way further to the noise he finally spotted a rather small crate being surrounded by a grouping of boys, none older than the age of eight and all holding sticks and other such poorly crafted weaponry. After a few more moments of staring he noticed the crate shift slightly to the left and then to the right before stopping in the middle; which is precisely when one of the boys gave it a swift kick jolting it into making that god-awful noise yet again.

"Gnnnnnuuuuu Gnnnuuuuu"

"Shut that fuckin' thing up!"

That's when Argyle decided in his youthful mind to call on the boys, he was sure they would scatter. Yet when his voice rumbled through the air, they did no such thing. In fact, they quickly ran over to the man and began to attack. Holding true to the saying, sticks and stones did indeed break many of his bones. Finally the onslaught ended when one of their mothers shouted for them, not like he needed the help -- he was merely getting ready to attack.

After the crowd had dispersed and his spleen no longer felt like it had caved in, he stood up and shuffled his way slowly over to the box, which is when he found it. A young girl with fake cat ears glued to her head - he wasn't sure if the boys had done it or if it was just the harsh way of the world, but he had to take the child in. He would train it to be as tough as he obviously is.

Hopefully this would fare better than the two dead pigeons he once tried to mate.

1923 and three slow motion montages later - Philadelphia

It had been a long while since that fateful day, but now there was another problem arising.

A group of thugs had taken to moving into the local bar and keeping themselves entertained by torturing and maiming the local residents, which Argyle wouldn't allow to happen on his turf. He grabbed his bat, and Chocola her wrench -- they were going hunting for vengeance -- these were the very same children who once beat them both up, which ties in nicely with the story you just read above, doesn't it?!

Going into the bathroom for a moment, Argyle came out wearing a tie wrapped around his head before he moved over to the wall and quickly smashed a crawling bug up against it. Smearing its guts across his face, he gave off a wide grin. He looked extremely intimidating now, and would surely be a force to be reckoned with.

He had gotten the intel of the gang from one of his friends who lived in the sewers. They were his eyes and ears on the streets and would always update him with the latest news, it was a rough life but paid in many dollars for the man as Argyle knew how to take care of his own. Looking over to the woman with the springy cat ears, he nodded to her.

"You ready?"

*Something confusing*

"Okay.. uh, yes.", Chocola would do that a lot, they had learned some English but still opted to speak this other language from time to time. Argyle never fully understood, but didn't have the heart to tell them. More importantly however, he knew they were ready and so was he; Papa John's Pub was right up the street and it was time to bring justice for these people, and for themselves.

"Lets roll."

Papa John's Pub

After a few minutes of walking as sneakily as possible they had finally reached the exterior of the building, it was a pretty nice looking place with a wide array of foods. They had recently been hinting at the pizza business, but Argyle scoffed at the idea. They would never be successful. Once they reached the doors he looked over to his feline friend and quickly began to wildly make random hand signals.

She looked confused.

"Sigh. Just wait here. I'm going to scale the place and scout it out."

Jumping onto a pipe it immediately fell over on top of him creating an extremely noticeable bang. Luckily, he had learned from the masters of stealth and knew exactly how to handle this. He threw both of his arms into the air and ran across the street as quickly as he possibly could, Chocola in tow.

"That was close."

*Something even more confusing*

They had made it to the other side safely, now hunching over a cart which sells corn dogs and pretzels, he thought long and hard for a new course of action. That's when it clicked perfectly - he knew exactly what to do and it was pure genius. Walking behind Chocola he gave her a push into the middle of the street.

"Do something!"

It was the purrfect plan, but would it work?

Report Post Tip

Chocola stumbled into the middle of the street, keeping her balance from the surprise push Argyle thought was such a good idea to give her. She figured he would be too lazy to do anything himself and would make her, but that didn’t stop her from glaring at him anyways. It was clear to her that their cover was blown and that she was quite visible from the pub. Instead of wasting time trying to drag Argyle out from his obvious hiding spot she left him, after all he’d eventually follow anyways. As she walked towards the bar, it didn’t take long for some Papa Pub thugs to appear outside ready to face them with their own weapons. Two were wielding rusty pipes, while the third donned a pair of brass knuckles; he seemed to be the leader. Realizing fighting one on three wouldn’t end well, Chocola decided to drag Argyle from his hiding, causing him to drop his corndog with ketchup onto the floor.

“Hey you punks, this is our turf, what do you think you’re doing hurting our folks? We clearly called dibs, it says so on this contract right here, signed and stamped! You better stop it this mewment or else!”

She shouted to the thugs while holding up a piece of paper with some chicken scratch and a paw print on it, they gave her the same incoherent look that became a familiar sight from Argyle. Chocola took a step towards them, hoping she looked intimidating enough to scare them off and avoid violence, but instead they just laughed.

“What the fuck? At least teach that thing English!”

They shouted back as they slowly approached the double trouble duo, though it was difficult to see who would end up striking first. Chocola turned towards her companion, who appeared to have a bloodthirsty rage in his eyes, though this was most likely from the wasted corndog than anything else. Oh well, she thought to herself, maybe riling him up would pay off in the end. Lost in thought, Chocola was almost hit smack in the gut with a pipe, though she managed to sidestep it and let Argyle take the hit instead. With a chuckle she returned the smack to the thug with her wrench, however she heard the sound of crying coming back near her. She turned around and noticed it was her teammate, mumbling something about a boo-boo. She sighed loudly and turned back to the thugs, hoping this would end in their favor.
