The last tango Started by: Angy on Feb 12, '17 03:48

The evening was pleasant for a charity event, as she sat in front of her dressing table, giving the finishing touches to her make-up when she heard the ringing. Curious about who it might be she stopped applying the red lipstick and decided to slowly descend the stairs in time to see her maid opening the door for Pradi to enter the hall.

Angy paused for a few seconds in appreciation of the distinguished and elegant way that Pradi was dressed. After all, it was rare the moments that her childhood friend wore a suit. Smiling she wondered if he had checked the pre-listing of those who were going to attend that event because she needed to act that night or would miss the opportunity to have access to Juan Cortez.

Juan Cortez was a great dealer of famous pictures and jewels who had been applying blows throughout the main cities of the United States. Mouseycop and MissNiki had already written to her about these events, and the men had set out to solve it after Juan had stolen from Chicago and New York respectively, and according to these men, Juan was last seen passing by his gleaming car in front of one of the Major Las Vegas casinos and as this event would have a great parade of jewelry he just might be going for the event as well.

Grinning mischievously, she slipped her diamond-encrusted necklace and headed for the place, taking Pradi with her. Upon arrival, she looked around to find either Juan or one of his men. It seemed that she was unlucky because it had been two hours and nothing of the suspect. When she was about to give up, she felt someone touching her shoulder and turning around, she held her breath because in front of her was him.

Clearing her throat, she averted her eyes to hide the surprise, and Juan, not noticing anything suspicious, invited her to a dance in order to approach the young lady with the rare necklace that had caught his eye since entering the hall.

Angy placed her hand over Juan's left, the track to the rhythm of a classic tango let Juan lead her, while she tried to discreetly call Pradi's attention because she would need it after the dance. While dancing, she cannot fail to notice how Juan emanated a good smell of expensive cologne and how his manners were from someone accustomed to a life in style. It was quite distracting to her, so much so that she was not being able to react when Juan discreetly opened the clasp of her necklace and left running from the hall.

Staring in amazement she tried to follow the man, but he disappeared through the crowd, putting her hand where the necklace was until just a few minutes ago, looking around for help.

Kathryn, trying to make some contacts, had attended the charity event with a plan to mingle with those wealthy enough to donate. She'd watched Angy with interest as she arrived- and even more as she began to dance with an unknown man. Kathryn was in the middle of sipping her red wine when she saw someone sprinting out of the corner of her eye holding a necklace- Angy's necklace, by the way she was reacting. Kathryn approached her and rested a hand on her back.

"... I don't suppose that that was fake, huh?"

Oh, no. That was not a fake necklace, but I have my men around looking at the exit doors. My ego just feels hurt because I let it slip through my hands.

Looking at her friend who was dressed beautifully, she takes her hand and goes from one of the exits to check if her guards were holding him. Passing in front of one of the rooms, she sees Prati indicating that the man is being held in that room.

"Come on, Kathryn. Let's see if you can help me make this guy confess to the robberies around the country."

Kharon was disappointed Angy did not invite him to the charity event, but after seeing Prati dressed in a suit, he decided Prati looked more distinguished then he would have. But Angy did have a job for Kharon at the event. She put him in charge of her personal security. Not that Prati would not be man enough to protect her, but Angy is our angel and should be protected more than 100%.

Kharon placed _Freyja and Karina in the catering team and they were working as waiters, the best way to see possible threats if anything were to happen.

The party was already well underway when all of a sudden, Kharon saw a disturbance at the front door. A man walked in and he had some bodyguards surrounding him. That was clearly Juan Cortez. Angy had shown Kharon and Prati a magazine in which Juan Cortez was described as a great dealer of famous pictures and jewels. The magazine also said Juan Cortez loved beautiful women and had more love affairs than most people had outfits. That was the part that frightened Kharon. He hoped Angy would not fall for Juan Cortez.

Juan Cortez walked towards Angy and everyone could see from the look on her face, she was attracted to the man. Secretly Kharon gave _Freyja and Karina a sign to stay alert. Angy and Juan were dancing to the famous Argentine Tango, beautifully played by the orchestra. Kharon loved the tango and was humming the music.

All of a sudden Angy grabbed her neck and Kharon saw that the necklace Angy had been wearing was gone.  Angy tried to follow Juan Cortez, who was now running from the hall, but her shoes made running impossible. Kharon quickly followed Juan Cortez, but the crowd was blocking his way. The last glimp he saw of Juan was that he had entered the kitchen. _Freyja and Karina were closer to the kitchen and Kharon gave them a sign to follow Juan Cortez.

Prati and Angy came towards Kharon and together they made a plan to catch the thief and recover the necklace. Hopefully the plan works.

Angy looked at Kharon and Prati, and signaled to them to follow where the guards were with Juan while Kathryn would guard the door.

Arriving in the enclosure, they saw Juan tied up for interrogation so that they could be discreet and silent working on him while a great party was happening outside. After some thought, Prati suggested that they could give a light drug to him and pretend it was as if he had drunk too much.

Angy looked sideways, smiling, and  went forward with Kharon and Prati, leading the man on their shoulders through the guests. Arriving outside, they threw the man inside of the trunk car, and headed to the headquarters. On the way, Angy decided to call one of her contacts at the police, giving a tip on where they would leave Juan after he had been punished.

The night could not have been more productive, Angy thought, smiling after resolving this case because no one can to steal in Las Vegas without the consent of the great Godfather FitzChivalry.
