| GAME CHANGE: User Owned Casinos | Started by: Squishy on Feb 20, '17 22:04 |

Starting tomorrow, we will start to convert casinos over to player owned casinos. Slots, Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, and 2 poker tables (With or without bots, its up to you). You may only own a casino in your home city. You only earn off of activity in casinos in your home city. The cost is $100,000,000 to purchase the casinos. As a casino owner, you handle all losses and wins via your vault. If at any time a casino goes bankrupt, its converted over to an admin owned casino, so it is of the utmost importance to keep enough in the vault to cover all possible losses under all possible scenarios. Your casino also operates like a DFP, you need to pay your security a trivial amount on a regular basis, or they walk out and the next win by a player will bankrupt you, thus losing the Casino. Once a day, you receive an XP bonus for being a Casino owner. Shortly thereafter you can designate a "manager" to run the casino, who can handle the bribes for you, have access to the vault, and will receive an XP bonus as well. To purchase your casino, send 100,000,000 to Squishy. There is a limit of only one casino per city. The first to pay will be the new owner, anyone who pays 2nd will receive a refund. This may take a a few days to roll out, so if you happen to die before its online, your next character will receive a refund. With your payment, provide the name of your Casino, and if it is known at the time, the name of your Manager (Optional). (For the record, typing long posts on a phone is a MFer) |

" You only earn off of activity in casinos in your home city. " With the exception of Poker. You earn the rake off of anyone who plays at those tables, regardless of where they are located. |

What would happen to casino and money in vault when a player dies after the casino is online? Does "manager" take over? Or what if both owner and manger die in war? |

If you die, the casino gets closed down. Treat this like a DFP (Gotta bribe it or you lose it, if you move to another city you lose it, if you die, it closes) |

Squishy - Treat this like a DFP (Gotta bribe it or you lose it, if you move to another city you lose it, if you die, it closes) - does this include the option to [not that anyone would want to except maybe in a war scenario] sell? |

The 100 mill price tag was based in my mind on risk versus reward. If you can instantly get back 50 mill from selling like a dfp, then that changes the risk aspect and we need to raise the price. For simplicity's sake my gut says no, but I'm open minded. |

Please explain a little more about managers.
After what requirements are met can you designate a manager? Can a manager be changed at will? Can a manager be anyone in your city? District? Crew? |

You shouldn't be able to own anything as high profile as a casino without people knowing about it. That wouldn't be very realistic in my opinion. |

Shell companies existed and it might have been harder to know who actually owned the casino. It's not unreasonable to think it could be anon.
Or you know just hide behind Clause... |

A manager just has to be a crewed person with your same home city. Any crew. Any rank. He is the "Face" of the casino, and is not anonymous. The manager can be changed at will, however, the XP the manager gains only works if he has been in the position for 24+ hours. Swapping them out voids the XP gain for that day. (But will resume on the next full day) |

The owners will be anonymous, the manager is not. |

Someone owning something as high profile as a casino anonymously in towns run by the mob is ridiculous; doubly so if that person isn't even from that town. |

Would it help if we switched the names around? The new owner was formerly known as the old manager, and the new Financial Backer is formerly known as the old owner.
In the real world, the owner in many states is public information, those behind the scenes are not. But those with enough pull could obtain the info. |

I see Lucius's argument about how the Mob usually knows its 'own' businesses even if the common man doesn't. But I completely agree with Squishy on how the real world works in terms of business. An owner usually sits back and lets the top management do its bidding...(ex: Goodfellas, da movie). Perhaps make it so that its up to the owner to let others know if he can be named publicly? And secondly, if the manager has to be from the same city as the owner, that is a dead give away in terms of who's running the casino, like which mob, not necessarily the person. |
