Exploring The Value Of Rank Started by: Ezreal on Feb 28, '17 08:52

Ezreal looked out into the streets and took a deep breath - it had been a long day. Although tired from his personal celebration, which he may or may not have forced his crew to take part in, he had a little more spring in his step. He grabbed the nearest soapbox he could find and grimaced at the dirt that rubbed off on his hands. Blood he was used to, but this wouldn't do. He needed to look sharp as ever! As he took in the wear and tear of the box, Ezreal shrugged and began banging it against the ground. It didn't seem to further damage the well used instrument, but proved beneficial in removing the copious amounts of mud and dust that had accumulated. He tossed it down on the ground and brushed his hands off. Considering the amount of food he'd consumed during his promotion earlier in the day, he stepped onto it gingerly, hoping it would support his ass.

He cleared his throat before speaking, "Not that I assume it would be given any fucks by others, but I recently acquired the title of Don - vouched for by Utopia, and I'm incredibly grateful for their support along the way." Ezreal looked around, hoping his boss witnessed the ass kissing. "Getting to my point, people tend to ignore the ranks and titles we bear on a daily basis. Sometimes they get away with it... but sometimes we find ourselves chuckling when their ass hits the front page of the obituaries.

My question is what does your rank, or job title, mean to you? What is the best thing about being the well known Wiseguy with the most smart ass jokes in town? Or being the newest Made man in the family, finally given the nod and trust to move forward in the ranks? Is being a Consigliere with the trust of holding the families money and accounting expenses something you respect and hold dear?

Since I'm still quite new to this role I've recently acquired, I'm still finding my place with it. But one thing I can say is I enjoy knowing that I've hit the highest point in my career I could get to. I'm excited at the prospect of being able to kick my feet up and drink a nice cold beer, smoke a well rolled cigar, and relax a bit." He caught EvelynReed's glare and nearly choked, quickly following up, "And of course putting everything I've learned to use and teaching some of these youngsters the ropes in the hope that our streets continue to flourish."

He merely hoped he'd backpedaled quick enough, and gave a cheeky grin to the small, almost non-existent crowd surrounding him. He searched through his jacket pockets and found his cigarette, quickly lighting it up before anyone expected him to say anything further.

When walks down the street, she looks at someone busy with the dirty soap box. She takes a look further. She knows him. He prepares another speech. She comes closer and listens him. Today he is a don, and now what is he doing here !? show of his promotion !? oh well he is talking about how means important of the rank.

She comes closer to him bow her self.. " Congratulation DON ezreal" she gives more intonation at " don"

" Reaching the posititon of the rank won't be easy sometimes and I can't say rank is not really important" she puts her hand on her pockets.

"But I think the more important thing is how good you are at your rank. As long as you work hard, i think it will be easier for ranking up. Well Let say, Someone be DON because of working so hard, and he gives his all money to his familly, but he never build him self. So he has no power and doesn't even can hire bodyguard for his protection. Then how could he helps familly for longer times ? even he can be killed by someone with lower rank who build their self and wants take his position"  she takes a deep breath for a while..

"Well in short, according to me rank is important but build our self to be the best at our rank is more important. " she end up her oppinion.

Faceman notices a some ass kissing going on and perked up, to hear an interesting conversation amongst the crowd next to him, he decided to give his 20 cents not that anyone may have asked for it either. Faceman gets the attention of the crowd offering to light Ezreal another cigarette.

"Trust and Respect are the two key components when it comes to rank I find." He takes a big drag of his cigarette before continuing. "Respect as has been mentioned a thousand times before by our parents and our families is earned and not given and we take that as our code, that we have to prove to our families we will fight for every last inch. Trust naturally comes hand in hand with that, when you have earned that respect then you will be trusted with rank, with that you need to show you deserve it, work hard to prove it wasnt just a one off job that got you where you are, show a bit of consistency to show you aren't a one trick pony."

Faceman looks around at the small crowd and sees that interest is fading

"All i'm saying is to me rank means showing i can be better than what i have shown i can be."

With a deep sigh Faceman turns and continues about his day.

Ezreal notices a friendly face approach him, seeing it was Pandora he runs over giving her a hug grinning. Shortly after exchanging greetings and catching up with each other he hears something behind him. As he looks backwards he is offered a fresh cigarette from Faceman, accepting his kind offer he lets the man light his cigarette and grins.

"So this is what royalty feels like eh?"

He smirks at his remark already noticing the rank get to his head. As he stands there listening to the two talk and give their insights, he occasionally nods from time to time while continuing to smoke on his cigarette.

"Showing I can be better than what I have shown I can be" Ezreal repeats to himself thinking of how much of a pain in the ass it would be if EvelynReed were here. His little vacation would surely be over.

Personally I feel that there are a couple of landmark ranks with a deeper meaning.

Made man - when the books open and your name comes up its a big fucking deal. Some people still act like that blood oath means nothing, but it does. Blood in, blood out is my view on the matter. This rank says your boss knows you and will take direct responsibility for your actions. Both the boss and soldier need to understand that.

Don - If you made this rank then it means a Godfather vouched for you, that doesn't tend to be a long list. You'll be a well known and respected face around town and have achieved a hell of a lot for your boss to earn this title.

Godfather - This is where I can take a step back and reflect. The rank of Don is given, the rank of Godfather tends to be taken, but taken with the support of multiple families. This means you've probably proved yourself in the streets and in the art of war. But it also means that the most powerful families around you have given you the nod.

In my mind these are the three most important landmark ranks.

Tarlo stood back and listened to Godfather Bonkers. With a nod in understanding of what he was saying she looked up.

"Well put sir. It is understandable. Though the journey through it has been proven to be difficult in the tasks that lay ahead. But I only go by the books my ancestors left behind."

Tarlo fell quiet and waited a bit, before listening to the others.

oRagnar notices a group of people gathered and approaches to check out what is happening and after realising what is going on he goes on to say:

To begin with i would like to congratulate you on this new achievment in your life and i trust you will represent it with honor and make your family proud!

Now to get on with the discussion, rank is something that everyone out there aspires to achieve. I truly believe that by far most of the members in this thing of ours want to achieve the highest position. And that is something good as it leads to more prosperity and brings more activity and money into our streets. Every rank matters and it should be treated with the proper respect, some more than others but every one that chose this life should stand up for what he thinks with his head held high ( unless he has shoot someone and is trying to escape the police ).  So to conclude it i think just because someone is a couple of ranks below does not mean he is weaker and should be treated as such.
