You need the A-Team Started by: Faceman on Mar 06, '17 22:36

Standing at the foot of the steps to his new headquarters, Faceman had a subtle smile on his face. Nobody liked to be thrust into an opportunity out of necessity rather than purely based on their merits, but sometimes you just can't argue with the way things pan out and simply have to roll with the punches.

He was still getting used to his new home. He was still getting to know all of the movers and shakers in Brooklyn, knowing who to be leaning on and who to could be earning from. He was still getting used to which pubs he had to steer clear of to avoid a patented TsuDhoNimh "On the 20 minutes pole dance", not that the crazy Irish bastard ever needed a bar with a pole... if you catch the drift. He was still clutching the keys to his new building feeling like everything was a little bit of a blur, but he was eager to grab the opportunity with both hands and make sure he made the most of it. After all, he had work to do. Taking a hankie from his pocket he quickly rubbed a smudge from the plaque outside the building, everything had to be just right today.

In 1922, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the New York underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire...

Turning to a small group of friends, family and onlookers gathered in front of him as he prepared to swing open the doors to The A-Team for the first time, he decided to say a few words.

Thank you for joining me here today. It really means a lot.

Firstly, I'd like to introduce you all to my new family The A-Team. It's a family that will face difficult tasks head on. It's one that won't shy away from danger or hard work. It's one that will have room for angry big men that wear too much jewelry at times, so TheNihilist is welcome to stay. It's a family that expects the very best from its members. We set the bar high with lofty expectations and high demands, purely so our members can go on to achieve what they deserve and what their potential demands of them.

I couldn't be here today without the help of those around me. In this thing of ours, life is all about who you form bonds with and who you invest your time with. Sometimes you look back and feel you made mistakes, sometimes you get to look forward and see the opportunities that the right decisions have lay in front of you. I find myself looking forward today. For that I'd like to thank Borkers for taking me in when i was left on the streets and to then help me grow. To then be given this oppurtunity is incredible and I thank you greatly for it.

After a deep sigh and under his breath

Thanks to TsuDhoNimh also i suppose

With a big smile Faceman turns and begins his new life.

I love it when a plan comes together. Always good to see a family member in all the boldness.

TheNihilist stands behind Faceman as he makes his speech, chuckling to himself as his boss made the big angry man quip. That couldn't be further from the truth however. TN may look angry at first glance, but those who knew him knew it was just the strained look of the internal realisation that all things are inherently meaningless and nothing really matters. He looked more depressed than angry, almost sad. He wasn't much for speaking in front of people, he always struggled with getting his message across without reminding his audience that they would eventually die alone and be forgotten to the history books.

But today he wanted to make an effort and support his old family friend, so he stepped forward after the bossman had finished his monologue.

Faceman, a few weeks back when you rang me up in the old country with tales of grandeur and glory, asking me to sail over and have some fun with you, I was not very optimistic. I generally despise doing anything at all, as you well know.

But I confess myself entertained, lad. You have been a shining example in our time with Don Borkers and the others back in Chicago and I am certain you will continue to be a beacon of light in a dark, dangerous world. At least until we both inevitably die and spend etern-

Realizing where this was heading, TN cut himself short and forced a dry smile in Faceman's direction.

Ahem. My friend, very few things bring me joy, and working with you is one of them. Here is to a strong run full of good times and good friends. And hopefully, along the way, we can teach a few young bloods in the ways of the old. Nothing would bring me greater joy than that.

He shot Faceman one last fake smile and then went off down the street to conduct some business in Queens.

Or we might need a horse, spaceship or robot. What is your fancy?

I listen to the speech, then I through a nod in the direction of the newest family head. While I had no place approaching a man of his stature, I send my regards to him via one of his boys.

"Send my regards to Mr Faceman would ya?"

In her visit to New York, Kenzi came upon a lovely scene.  Someone was setting up here.  It was a bittersweet thing in her mind.  New life always sprang up where carnage once lay.  This was what was happening today.  She couldn't fault the people here too much, even if there would always be a niggling feeling I her heart.  Did one of them pull the trigger?  Good grief...  She needed to get out of New York.  It was honestly making her more and more depressed.  Although she would manage to be happy for the man.  He looked so happy...  So full of hope.  But could he be swimming with the fishes the next day?  Such uncertainty was the only thing that was certain in times like these.  In any case!  Bearing this in mind, Kenzi would be happy in the moment, sharing in the happiness of the day.

The crowd gathered round to hear Faceman's speech, Kenzi among them.  Once he had concluded, Kenzi whooped in pure joy and exclamation, listening intently to the words of the other man who followed.  She did wish them the best.  And as such, she would stay and listen to any more words that may be to come.  It always was a glorious and exciting day when a new family set up.
