| Finding His Feet | Started by: Peperami on Mar 14, '17 16:40 |

Peperami's feet touched down on the cold, damp streets of New York. He fastened the buttons on his long black coat, tucking his chin beneath the collar. Condensation escaped his mouth as he breathed in the early chill. Pulling one hand out of his pocket, he reveals a scrap of paper. Squinting his tired eyes, he manages to make out the note, 'The Tiger's Lair, Waring Avenue, Bronx. Ask for Daniella." Quickly rushing the note back into his pocket in an attempt to recover the warmth in his hand, he looked on at the dimly lit streets. His feet begun to carry him through the quietness, his eyes taking in the finer details as he journeyed towards where he would hope to find work and maybe even call home. Peperami leaned his body back as he peered up at the large building in front of him. While he was new to these parts, he wasn't new to this scene and he knew what would likely be waiting for him on the other side of the door. He pulled his left sleeve back, quickly snapping a glance at his watch before pushing against the door. Immediately after entering, he found himself in front of a much larger man - probably named 'Steve'. Of course, he didn't bother to ask the man's name, instead he begun rooting around his pocket for the scruffy note before repeating the name which was written, "Hey there, big fella... I'm looking for a Daniella? Was told to come down by Dodgy Pete." The man took his time to look Peperami up and down before grunting and waddling off to find assistance. Peperami released the top two buttons of his coat and began surveying the room. Taking in the fresh smell and looking upon the furniture in awe, he found his attention lost while gazing into a large painting on the wall. |

The man's name was Sam actually, but close enough. Sam had given the man that was standing in front of him a good, hard look before he had gone to report his arrival. Normally he would have turned the man away; the Godmother wasn't looking for new workers right now after all. But he'd mentioned Dodgy Pete and Sam knew enough to know that name would be of interest to his boss. Knocking at the office door, Sam waited until he heard the woman’s voice before he opened the door, just enough to stock his head in. “Sorry to disturb boss but there’s a man here, says he was sent over by Dodgy Pete.” Well that was a new she hadn’t heard in awhile. Why would Pete be sending someone over to her right now? She raised an eyebrow, thinking for a moment before she spoke. “Bring him on in Sam.” Pete was a friend so if he’d sent the man to her there had to be a reason. Sam disappeared back down the hall, looking over at Peperami with another hard gaze. “Come on then. And don’t try nothing stupid.” Most of Daniella’s guards had been with her for a long time and were rather… protective… of her. They weren’t exactly known for their people skills. Peperami was escorted back to Daniella’s office, where she was sitting behind her desk. The tall blonde was anything but intimidating; she welcomed him with an easy, disarming smile; the kind of smile that her done her well over the years. She glanced at her bodyguard first, her voice light. “Thank you Sam.” She turned her attention back to Peperami, motioning to the chair in front of her. “Please, have a seat. What can I do for you today, Mr…?” |

Peperami scratched the stubble on his face as he stood in front of Godmother Daniella. A little out of his comfort zone in the luxurious office, he slowly lowered himself into the chair. "I'm Mr, err... My friend's call me Peperami, ma'am." He sat staring at the blonde woman. He had come from the darker areas of life, but to be sitting in front of the Godmother of The Bronx was unsettling, to say the least. He hadn't imagined he'd find himself in the office of such a figure. Now he was here, he was unsure on what to say. He looked around the office in awe before finding some words to start with, "Dodgy Pete told me there might be some work over here for me." he paused, before continuing, "I'm happy to help however.. I just need a chance." Peprami held sincerity in his eyes. He'd come from a rough background but hadn't been in the streets for long. He had a point to prove and if ever there was a time to prove it - it was now. It was time for him to really get his hands dirty. Now was no time to melt and become just another bit of meat into the grinder. He was ready to grab this opportunity with both hands. |

It was easy to tell that the man was a bit….uncomfortable. He was out of his element in her office and she understood that; she’d recruited enough people like him over the years to know what kind of life he’d come from. The current financial situation in the country meant that there were not many people who were able to live the kind of life that Daniella lived. Still, she pretended not to notice. Or maybe she simply didn’t care. After all, he’d get used to it soon enough if he proved his worth around here. “Well, Pete was right and wrong at the same time. Having recently taken over here in the Bronx, my own operation has downsized in scope so I’m not taking in new members right now.” Daniella had downsized her own headquarters after taking Godfather; it was a much smaller and quieter place now. But that didn’t mean she didn’t have an option for him. “However, I believe that my Captain, Brant, is still bringing in fresh faces. Now I’ll warn you – the work isn’t easy. The jobs might seem easy at first, robbing banks and hitting up the post office. Collecting taxes from the business owners. Roughing up a few people that owe us money. But the longer you stick around the harder it gets. And the more lucrative of course.” |
