A Job for TheDonBot Started by: Kathryn on Mar 20, '17 03:07

Kathryn welcomed TheDonBot into her office with a quick wave. After a few moments, she leaned back in her chair and crossed her legs. TheDonBot was a weird one; she still hadn't made up her mind about who he was or where he came from- but at the end of the day, results spoke for themselves. He was an exemplary member so far, and it was time for him to finish proving himself. Normally, she knew that TheDonBot preferred a long, descriptive amount of small talk before getting to business, but time was of the essence- so she got right to it.

"'evening, TDB. I've got a problem that I think you can help me with. His name's Bob Hackett. He runs an auto-repair shop on the outskirts of the city, and he's cutting into one of my businesses. Normally, this isn't an issue that would require this sort of meeting, but when I sent one of my associates around to have a friendly chat, Hackett pulled a shotgun. Fired it a couple times near my guy, as well."

Kathryn leaned forward, lacing her hands on the desk.

"Suffice it to say that while I'm open to many forms of negotiation, taking shots at my people is something that is most definitely off limits. So I'd like you to send a message and remove Mr. Hackett. Permanently. His shop's a mess- metal and wires everywhere. You'll fit right in."

She grinned wickedly.

"Any questions?"

TheDonBot stood up and shook his head, understanding the objective perfectly. He already had a plan in mind to prove to Kathryn the deed had been done.

"I'll get it done ma'am, just me. Joey and Clamps will have to stay around the HQ though, hopefully that's alright."

Without waiting for her reply, TheDonBot turned and exited the office. He had a job, and wasn't wasting any time. Normally he would have Joey and Clamps scout the area first, but he told Kathryn he'd do the job himself, and he intended to do every step solo.

Making his way towards the exit, TheDonBot stopped and told his robot friends the plan.

"Kathryn gave me a job and I've got to do this one solo, boys. I'll do it good and right though, scout the area first, make sure nobody else is around."

TheDonBot nodded and left his companions wandering around the HQ aimlessly. He sincerely hoped they wouldn't freak out his crewmates too much in his absence. TheDonBot stepped out of the HQ and began walking towards the edge of the city. After what seemed like hours, he began to approach the outskirts. Noticing a small child kicking a ball on the side of the road, TheDonBot stepped up to him and coughed - not wanting to alarm the small human.

"Excuse me... Do you know where I can find a shop ran by a man named Bob? He deals mostly with car repairs."

TheDonBot worded the question vaguely, hoping the boy knew. Rather than vocalizing his response, the kid merely raised one of his hands and pointed off into the distance. TheDonBot's eyes looked to where the kid was pointing. A couple blocks to the south, a sign stood in front of a garage reading "Hackett's Automotive".

TheDonBot slipped the kid a twenty and pinched his arm, causing him to cry and run off. TheDonBot shrugged. No doubt the kid would go buy a mountain of candy and forget all about the strange robot who had inquired about the repair shop.

Sneaking around the back of the building, TheDonBot peered through a window and scanned around. An absolute mess, just as Kathryn had mentioned; screws, nuts, bolts, wires, receipts and an assortment of wet spots that TheDonBot didn't really care to name.

Seeing a man about to pass by the window, TheDonBot lowered himself down slightly and focused on if they were saying anything. A few scuffles. The crisp sound of a match being lit. TheDonbot drew inspiration from that, surprised that Bob allowed smoking in there. A few coughs. RIIIING.

"Bob here, Hackett's Automotive, what is it?"

TheDonBot heard him say, muffled.

"Yeah-huh. I'll send someone down..."

TheDonBot heard a soft click, presumably Bob hanging up the phone.

"Hey Frank! HEY! The pizza's ready, go on down and get it for us." Bob grunted.

"Sure thing, boss"

TheDonBot risked looking back through the window and saw Frank leaving out the front entrance, Bob walking toward the bathroom - scratching his butt. He took this as his cue and pulled out a match, striking it quickly and throwing it through the open window. The various paper products, oil, junk and gasoline all caught ablaze almost immediately.

Bursting through the back door before the entire place went up in flames, TheDonBot ran into the bathroom and found Bob, who had been pulling his pants up while simultaneously attempting to run. He tripped, and TheDonBot caught him - applying immediate and extreme pressure on the mans neck. Bob passed out and TheDonBot threw him over his shoulder.

Throwing him calmly in the trunk of one of the cars parked inside the garage, TheDonBot hoped that it ran. Climbing into the drivers seat, he turned the keys and grinned as it started on the first try. Backing the car up a few feet carefully, TheDonBot put it back into drive and floored it, causing Bob to crash around loudly. Good, he thought, stay unconscious...

TheDonBot held his foot on the gas, smashing through the wreckage and out into the street. Peeling away and speeding off, TheDonBot looked out his rear view mirror and nodded. The first sirens of emergency response were just starting to blare in the distance, and he was already putting good distance between himself and the scene of the crime.

TheDonBot drove for another half hour, taking random turns and constantly looking out of his mirrors. Once he was convinced nobody was following him, he pulled onto a street heading out of the city and continued on for a while. A few more miles passed and TheDonBot saw an abandoned warehouse coming up on the next exit. Perfect.

Slowing the car down, TheDonBot pulled up to the building and saw clear signs of abandonment; litter, graffiti, rust on the locks. Busting off one of the locks, TheDonBot pushed open a door and took a look inside. A relatively large space sat mostly empty, except for a few random work tables and various tools; a saw, a couple hammers, etc.

TheDonBot turned and made his way back to the car. Opening the trunk, he expected Bob to make a run for it, but the man was still unconscious. Pulling him roughly out of the car, TheDonBot carried him into the building and threw him on the floor.

Calmly walking towards the saw he had spotted, TheDonBot snapped his head around quickly as he heard a scuffle on the floor. Bob had awoken in a panic and began crawling furiously for the door. TheDonBot picked up the saw and cut Bob off, literally. He reached down with the saw and pulled it quickly across the mans throat, sending a wave of blood across the floor.

As Bob clutched to his throat, TheDonBot laughed.

"You shouldn't have fucked with one of our friends. Kathryn sends her regards."

TheDonBot went into a brutal rage, hacking and slicing Bob apart despite the mans heart having stopped a few moments prior. TheDonBot proceded to slice off the mans arms and legs, followed by his head. Stuffing them all back into the trunk, he washed his hands in a nearby puddle before climbing into the car.

It took far less time than he'd anticipated to return back to the HQ. Humming to himself nonchalantly, TheDonBot made his way back up to Kathryn's office. Knocking twice, TheDonBot opened the door half an inch and poked his head in, making sure Kathryn wasn't in the middle of something.

Given that he wasn't told to leave, TheDonBot entered.

"Kathryn? It's done."

TheDonBot took a seat across from his boss and slid the keys to the car containing Bob's remains over. He had parked the car outside, wanting Kathryn to see the job was done with her own eyes.

"If you'll look in the trunk of the car parked on the east side of our HQ, I think you'll be quite pleased. Bob Hackett won't cause us any more problems. It's quite unfortunate that dealings with this man couldn't continue...but I guess in this business... not everyone can hack it."

Kathryn furrowed her brow and followed TheDonBot outside to where the car was parked. TheDonBot tossed the keys and Kathryn snatched them out of the air, quickly inserting them into the trunk and twisting them to pop it open after checking to see that no one else was within view.

Upon seeing the chopped up remains of the target, Kathryn stared for a moment and slammed the trunk shut again.

"Well... you're certainly thorough. Lose the car somewhere it won't get found, dispose of any evidence, and sit tight. You'll be hearing from me soon. Good work on this one, TDB."
