The Courthouse Started by: The_Courier on Apr 02, '17 12:27
The Courier waited impatiently outside The Courthouse. He had ditched his regular tan overcoat and hat, and was dressed in a well-fitted, black silk suit. His long hair had been trimmed and tied back in a pony-tail, and he had shaved off his mustache and goatee in an attempt to look more presentable. And now, after royally fucking up his style, Merci was late. The groom was waiting in front of the courthouse for the bride, instead of the other way round damnit!

He paced around impatiently as he waited, occasionally consulting his pocket watch, and looking around at the couples who were already on their way inside. He contemplated lifting a few valuables off the lovebirds, but he had a feeling that stealing right outside the court might just speeden up his trial proceedings....

From behind him, Merci murmurs in his ear.

"Hello, Handsome. Need a date?" she asks as he turns around. She's wearing a short, form fitting gown in satiny cream. Her hair is up, but a stray curl is resting on her cheek and she's holding a bouquet in one hand that she's purchased from Betty Boo's new shop. Kathryn's gift is around her neck, the large sapphire glimmering in the sun. They're nearly eye level, and as his eyes skim down her legs he can see why...she's wearing stiletto heels that bring her up to nearly six feet.

In her other hand is an envelope, which she hands to him.

"You insisted on purchasing half of Mead, so I'm gifting you my 25% share of Scalise's Fine Imports. Lucy is keeping it going," she adds by way of explanation.

"Look, I don't know who's coming, if anyone. Joe and Decypha and and Tacky are gone, Gracie is devastated, and Kathryn is still dealing with war debriefing. We couldn't be getting married at a worse time," she says, grinning at the irony.

"But if this is what you want to do, let's go," she says as she leans into him and kisses him.

The Courier returns the kiss with passion. "Thank ya for givin' me the share in Joe's old business. That place has a lot o' sentimental value for me." he tells her sadly. "As for tyin' the knot, the circumstances are a great reason to do so. We need to enjoy all the time we have together." he says with a grin as they walk towards the entrance, arm-in arm.

"Oh, and as far as attendance is concerned, Kathryn is our witness." he tells Merci with a wink, waiting for the famous Don Renford to make an appearance.

Kathryn steps out of a black town car with an unfamiliar driver, her heels knocking against the concrete. She needed to leave Las Vegas for a little while: a mix of grief of business- but she wouldn't miss this for the world. She was wearing a light blue dress and her hair was pulled back. She walked into the courthouse and approached the happy couple.

"Happy big day to the both of you. The two of you certainly move fast, but it's nice to have something to celebrate. I hope you don't mind that I wanted to avoid being the third wheel..."

She winks at Merci.

"... so I brought a date."

Popping out the car, Charlie practically runs up wearing a new suit, grinning from ear to ear as he slips his arm around Kathryn's.

Merci grins, embracing them both. Charlie towered over Kathryn; the last growth spurt put him at Will's height.

"Wouldn't have proceeded without you. Either of you," she says, turning to Kathryn. She notes the cameo pendant around her neck and a small smile curves her lips.

"Let's get this show on the road, shall we?"

The ceremony is simple and formal, much like any bureaucratic procedure. The Courier stutters and fumbles a bit, evidently intimidated by the judge. He could clearly recall all the times when the old men in black had broght the ban-hammer of law down upon his head. He and Merci both affirm that the decision is voluntary, that they are both citizens of the United States of America, and they provide documentation and evidence of their unmarried status, as well as numerous other details such as birth details, occupation and tax returns.

The Courier especially was concerned about this bit, due to the dubious nature of his origins, his line of work, and his standing in America, but the lawyers Kathryn had hired made short work of the red tape. Hell, they even made him an American citizen legally! He and Merci both sign the marriage certificate and Kathryn and Charlie follow with their own signatures, affirming that they witnessed the marriage legally. With all the formalities concluded, the four of them exit the courthouse.

"Party now? Or should we wait until we head to LA? Perhaps we should leave the decision to Don Merci?" he asks them all, curtsying towards Merci and grinning teasingly.

"Ohhh. California beaches. Toes in the sand, drink in my hand," she says, smiling at her nearest and dearest. She notices Charlie looking at Don Kathryn with something more than adoration and respect. The young man was flat-out enamored. Her smile slipped a bit, then returned full force. He was nearly 20; she couldn't hang on to him forever...and, really, was there anyone more suitable out there than Kathryn? She wondered if the other woman was aware...well of course she was. And she'd not done anything about it, because...Kathryn simply wouldn't. She'd ask Merci first.

At that thought, and with the happiness in her heart on this lovely day, her eyes welled up. Curry looks at her, a bit concerned, but she maintains her smile.

"I'm okay. I just love each of you so damn much," she says, swiping away a tear.
