| RP Inc. moves to LA - Launches The West Coast Syndicate | Started by: Kathryn on Apr 04, '17 18:54 |
|
Kathryn looked down at the gravestones in the cemetery on the Vegas City limits. Jack and Tacky, killed in the assault on the Moreau mansion: a personal mission of revenge that she'd not really had time to process. Arriving back in Vegas, they were greeted by another hail of bullets. Kathryn walked further along, read the names as she went. JagAvery. Decypha. Joe_Scalise. Their deaths were still echoing in the family HQ, creating holes that would never be filled no matter how much time had passed. Jag had been so young, so full of potential. Decypha and Joe had been with her from the very beginning: a ten man HQ in The Strip, years ago. She sighed as she turned away from their names, but other ones rose to her mind unbidden, FitzChivalry at the forefront. He had been so generous to her. How many men in his position would take a shot on a trust fund college girl from the west side? Fitz had helped her, pushed her, and challenged her to be better. He helped her make her way in the world, and now he was gone. Kathryn saw his face in front of her for a moment as the nostalgia and guilt battled for supremacy. And there were other ghosts as well: red hair, strong voices, as the many other names and faces of the fallen passed unbidden through her mind. She planned out what she was going to say as the cab took her to the streets. Kathryn had asked that the other members of her crew be present for an announcement, but she wouldn't be surprised to see a few other faces as well. Arriving at her destination, she stepped out and walked briskly to the appointed place where she smiled and addressed the small crowd. "Good afternoon, everyone. Today is a big day for RP Inc. We've been a crew for a while now, and some time ago, I stepped out into the streets and talked about what I hoped to accomplish with a crew of my own. In the time since I've done that, some of my dreams have failed. Some of them have been modified. And other goals have been achieved beyond my wildest dreams. Today is a day for me to look back and and reflect- but it's also a time for me to look forward as well. When I look back at those moments of success, those moments of victory... I see a group effort. I see collaboration. I see Merci, my partner, who has been standing by my side since the very beginning, back when it just the two of us walking around an empty HQ. I see Gracie, keeping us amused late into the night as she keeps us healthy, both physically and mentally. I also see those old faces who are no longer with me. JohnConstantine. Joe_Scalise. Decypha. Tacky. Augustus_Caesar. Jack. Many of you currently in RP Inc. are too young to remember all of these names. As I look forward, I know that the ultimate measure of my success will be how many of you newer members rise up to hit your potential. Will you be active in the streets? Will you contribute something to our world? Will you build bonds the way the deceased men I just mentioned did, and leave echoes in your wake when you pass? She lets her eyes trail over the associates of RP Inc. In many ways, I see the bold suit as an opportunity for stewardship. It's a chance to influence the world. Yes, our business is a selfish business. We accumulate money and wealth and power. But I believe that by helping our society as a whole approach excellence, we help ourselves. By contributing to our larger society, we keep our business booming. We keep attracting new talent. And by nurturing that talent, by helping people reach their potential, we benefit everyone in our line of work- ourselves most of all. So... what's the plan? What are we looking forward to? I want to use this opportunity to try create something original- something excellent. Los Angeles, moving forward, is part of The West Coast Syndicate. Although much of our attention, of course, will be focused on building up LA, we'll maintain close ties and activity levels with Las Vegas. We'll also be embarking on some joint ventures as we move forward together. Entertainment, I think, is a sorely underrated market. Life sucks. The government sucks. People just want an escape, damn it. They want to get away. Especially people in our society- people who have much more spending money than your average Joe Schmoe. So while Renford Properties will continue to run out of Las Vegas to acquire and develop real estate, today I'd like to announce the official formation of Renford Productions Inc. Radio programs, movies, live theater opportunities, publishing... the opportunities are endless. Lots of people talk a big game when they're given an opportunity like this, and I don't intend to be one of those who does so before retreating silently to their HQ. Disorder and I have had some late night planning sessions lately that have me more excited than I've been in a long, long time. I thank him for this opportunity, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish through our united efforts. Expect to hear from me soon. And RP Inc. If I know them at all, they've already got five new businesses up and running in the business district. Finn, Kathryn's new chief bodyguard, leans forward and whispers in her ear. "Six? We just landed an hour ago. Savages. Anyways, to conclude: Los Angeles is open for business, and we invite everyone to come pay us a visit. But if not? You'll be hearing from us soon in the streets. Let's get to work, people." |

Lucy smiled at her new boss and applauded with the crowd as she finished speaking. She hadn't had an opportunity to get to know the Don very well yet but her old boss Joe_Scalise had spoken very highly of her so she already respected her greatly. Stepping forward he approached the Don "Congratulations Don Kathryn. Something tells me LA is never going to be the same again." |

Merci stands off to Kathryn's side, grinning a lopsided smile at Kathryn's new bodyguard. Sneaky girl. She hadn't seen that one coming. Charlie is standing to the other side of Merci, nodding and smiling along as Kathryn speaks, that damned goofy, love-struck grin on his face. She hadn't seen that coming, either, but life was full of surprises. Releasing the grip she'd had on The_Courier 's hand, she steps forward to clap vigorously at the end of the speech. She'd love to say something, but she's really not good at street speeches, and anyone would be hard pressed to follow up after Kathryn Renford. So she settled for stepping a bit closer and hugging her best friend, mentor, and partner. "'There is nothing stable in the world; uproar's your only music'. So, let's do what the wise man said, and go cause some uproar," she said, tickled that she might just have gotten the damn quote correct. |

Demi walked from out from her drug dealing ally as she hear from a few bums that an announcement was going to be given, A huge crowd gathered around to listen in on the speech. Demi looked around as she wasn't able to see anything she noticed a milk crate took out the last two milk bottles from it and flipped it over so she may stand on it. She gazed up to see who was giving the speech before noticing it was her own leader. Kathryn stood tall with much courage and focused she began by thanking the crowd for coming then announced that her family was moving to Los Angeles stunned but excited Demi cleared her throat before cheering and clapping as hard as she could that her hands turned red. Demi knew that Kathryn deserved this and would bring only good things to Los Angeles with everyone rebuilding in each city she did have enough time to make great things for this empty city, Demi only hoped to see much more lovely faces in her new city. |

It's been a long while since the sly, slacking, selfish snake slithered along the streets. Ever since Shady_Shin arrived to these shores, he's grown lazy and docile with the inheritance he received from his previous of kin. A fringe associate, kicking up just enough dues to skirt by. But times change, and inheritance money depletes quickly when one spends it all on hookers, gambling and drugs. The man has managed to clean himself up for the important announcement and makes his way through the small crowd to speak up, putting on his ever charming smile across his visage.
"Like a Phoenix, through the ashes and sorrow of war, you shine brightly throughout the dark night. Don Kathryn, this will be the beginning of a beautiful start to a vibrate Los Angeles. Furthermore, I fully intend to repay the generosity that you've shown me these last few weeks and help keep this West Coast dream of ours alive. For the future generations to come and for those who went on before us."
He dips a hand into his jacket, removing a metal flask to toast towards the woman of the hour, then downs a quick shot before pouring out the rest of its contents onto the street. The container soon follows, dropping with a clatter along the pavement. He dips his hands into his jacket's pockets, taking his leave. The beach was calling and the ocean was a cruel, sweet mistress. |

Kinsey, surrounded by the rest of RP Inc, beamed as Kathryn finished her speech. There was a strange, bitter-sweet sort of relief when she had first announced the move to LA. He had only recently started calling Vegas home. Or had it only been recently? Either way, this move felt like a true fresh start. And he knew exactly what he was gonna do next. "Time to set up shop!" he quietly said to himself with excitement, and strolled away from the group. If he were lucky, he'd find a nice little building available. |

Congratulations! I believe you are the most amazing person that has ever graced these shores. You are generous and kind, talented and hard working. You took me in when I needed a home, and I will spend my life proving that was the right thing to do. May you live long and reign wisely, Don Kathryn. I know you will. |

"Congrat' I wish ey' the bes' of luck lass." Grinning as he took a big swig of his rum. Clapping by patting his stomach as he slowly started to walk away from the group. |

Hisoka had recently stayed at a hotel near the heart of Los Angeles the night before, prepping for Kathryn's arrival into the streets. Having heard news prior to this by Godfather Disorder in the streets a few days ago. He knew it was only a matter of time before the movers had everything packed and setup in her newly built headquarters. Listening nearby out of sight, down an empty alley way he watches as Kathryn gathers her family together next to her before she begins to speak. As she continues on he couldn't help but notice such admiration towards her family along with the fallen members of her association. Hisoka began to lick his lips as his eyes lit up, becoming a bit turned on from hearing the new original ideas of entertainment in the making. It was clear to not only himself but to everyone nearby listening, big changes were about to hit the shores of Los Angeles. Scratching his chin he began to ponder...could he become one of the newest movie stars he'd always heard about on the radio? Shrugging his shoulders he begins to laugh, guess time would only tell. Hearing Kathryn end her speech she becomes swarmed of bodyguards as friends and family soon begin to gather around her. Everyone was smiling as they congratulated her on such success to lead to this day. Hisoka decides to take this time to move closer to the scene, wishing to give his respects for she has definitely deserved it. Congratulations Kathryn! It's great seeing you get this opportunity while continuing to strive in this chaotic world we live in. Though our paths haven't crossed all to much, I do truly believe you will do some amazing things over there and look forward to seeing how they pan out. I'll constantly be taking the red eye into town, visiting and checking in on some of the newly built business's downtown. I wish you and your family the best of luck in this transition between cities. With a smile he looks back at the Don nodding back to her as if to show his respect before making his way back into the crowd for some well needed celebration drinks. |

Remaining characteristically quiet and hidden in the background, The Courier waited till everyone else was done. He gave Merci an appreciative wink after her speech before he realized that all those who knew he was around were looking expectantly at him. Apparently being the Left Hand Man of the syndicate meant that he had to give speeches in crowds instead of cleaning out all of their wallets and valuables. Not that he had avoided the latter activity any way. Stuffing the bulges indicating the stolen goods deeper into his overcoat, The Courier steps forth to say his bit. "Congratulations Don Kathryn on the move. We at RP Inc. greatly respect yer leadership and are with you every step o' the way. 'Tis time we tapped into the endless opportunities offered by the Cali market and reap the benefits o' being the pioneerin' segment o' organized crime in the region." |

Shini watched and listened from his own perch. He had managed to find his way onto a nearby roof so he could see past all the people. The male liked the idea of moving to Los Angeles, he liked going to new places and was looking forward to the new opportunities that would make themselves available for RP Inc. He made a mental note to say congratulations later. That was another advantage of being up high, no one expected him to talk. |

Gregos was new to the clan but had been impressed by its closeness. What to make of this new move to LA? He was philosophical. Been here, done that in this very place in another lifetime. This time however he felt like he was with a classier outfit, especially because it was led by the oh-so-classy Lady K. |

Ranger had been doing some work for Merci since his arrival a the City of Sin to escape Texan authorities and claim his late brothers' belongings. He could see why Decypha had become a part of RP Inc. upon escaping the grasp of MI6. It was a safe haven, a criminal organization for the greater good. Being branded an outlaw and carring the highest recorded bounty on his head, he decided to tag along on the journey to LA to get as far away from the desert as possible, where he wouldn't be found by police OR bounty hunters and other outlaws alike. Upon listening to Kathryn's words of her fallen members, he heard his younger brother mentioned and bowed his head in respect. He could see that these people had done well by him and looked after him, where as his older sibling, he couldn't. Nothing would replace Decypha and it'd be a damn struggle to try and fill his boots, but Ranger was willing to try his best and repay the favour to RP Inc. After the others had their say, he approached Kathryn. "That was a mighty fine speech there, ma'am. Might I come see ya atcha' office for a lil' talk later?" He asked her in his strong Texan accent. |

Kathryn thanked everyone for their kind words. There was a great deal of work to be done, and many exciting plans were currently flying through her head. But- one step at a time. She nodded as Ranger approached her. "Of course, I've been meaning to speak to you. My office in Las Vegas will, of course, remain open. But if you stick around for a little while, I should have something up and running here in Los Angeles shortly." |

Gracie was about to be the busiest god damn person in the world, but when your leader was about to speak on the streets you kinda HAD to be there. And when that leader was one of your best friends, well if you weren't there to show your support you were some kind of an asshole. And Gracie was certainly not an asshole. She just wanted to probe them and make people uncomfortable, for science. She clapped along with everyone else but being short on time she simply caught Kathryn 's eye from where she was standing and gave a thumbs up. They'd catch up later, she was sure of it. She blew the woman a kiss before hailing a cab and heading towards the airport. |
