Dubliner stood outside, one foot on the side of his sedan, as he lit a cigarette. An early morning fog was hanging around the air like smoke from a nearby fire. A light misty rain fell from the sky cutting through the fog. Dub looked around the neighborhood. Workers leaving their homes getting ready for the long day ahead. Dub rubs his hands together to warm them up a bit. The sun's warmth wasn't making it through the fog very well. Dub sees Dominick walking downstairs through the window of the family bar. He was meeting with Pseudonym--something about some dockworkers with big mouths down in the bar. Dominick steps out of the front door and closes it behind him. He stands on the stoop for a second and pulls out a cigarette and lights it. He looks around for a couple seconds and buttons his trenchcoat up.
"Brisk morning," he pipes up, "perfect for a shakedown."
Dub smiles as he puts out his cigarette. He opens the door and breathes deeply. He exhales and watches as the warmth of his breath collides with the chilly air in a sort of dogfight in front of his face.
"You and I have different ideas of a perfect morning." Dub chuckles as he sits in the driver's seat.
Dub turns the car on and shifts to gear as Dominick steps in. "Where to, exactly?" "Docks. Boss hasn't been getting any of the protection money they owe us."
"Are we expecting trouble?" Dub asks. "I always expect trouble. Pseudonym said we could expect some backup at the docks. He mentioned he may be there if he can make it out of his meeting in a hot second."
Dub pulls into the dockyard and steps out of the car. They're immediately greeted with open arms and a big, yellow smile as the manager pulls his cuban out of his mouth. He's an overweight German-American with oak brown hair and a mole on his upper right cheek. He has a hoarse voice that bellows out, "Dominick! It's so good to see you! Come, come, let me get you both a drink!"
Dominick looks at Dub side-eyed as the manager turns his back and leads the two towards the office. He opens the door and hollers at the secretary to hold all business visits for the time being. The manager hurries to an end table off of his desk and opens the drawer. He shuffles through some loose papers and pulls out three dusty shot glasses. He tips them all upside down and tries to shake the dirt and dust off of them to no avail. He pulls out his pocket square from his vest and spits on it and wipes down the glasses. He looks at the two men sitting in their chairs and shows his bright yellow teeth again. "Karl, we're on the clock right now." Dominick says. "Ahhhh, there's always time for a drink. Surely you Italians know this!" Karl's bellowing laugh sweeps through the office.
Dub looks around the office as Karl reaches into a desk drawer and pulls out some brandy. "Not to mention it's 8:21 in the morning..." Dub mumbles. He notices the safe sitting in the corner of Karl's office. It sits cracked open.
"Now, Now, what can I do for you boys?" Karl pours the shots and pushes them to the end of his desk." "Protection." Dominick says. "Ah, I already pay your boss, is he losing track of who is sending the payments? Hahaha!" Karl laughs as he drinks his shot of brandy. "That is a rich man, for sure." "We haven't received a payment in a month, Karl. We agreed on weekly payments."
Karl leans back in his chair. "Hm... I must apologize. I was unaware." Dubliner looks at Karl in confusion. "That's a lot of money to be unaware of, Karl. Don't you think?" Dubliner asks. "Well, you know how it is. You get busy working, a lot can slip your mind." "I can't imagine how that would ever happen to you, Karl, I really can't..." Dominick pushes away the shot of brandy Karl offered him.
"Well, how much is it I owe you boys? Usual payment?" "Times four." Dub chimes in.
Karl stands and walks to the safe. He opens it and pulls out the money. He tosses it in front of Dominick on the desk. "You can count it if you want. It's all there, I can assure you. I don't mean to step on my friends' toes..." "Well, Karl, I am sure you can understand that you have already stepped on our toes. And Pseudonym wants more than the usual now."
Karl reaches back into the safe. "How much more? I have it, I promise."
Dominick and Dubliner stand up and reach into their jackets and pull out their M1911's. "Actually, Pseudonym told me to take all of it." Dominick aims his pistol at Karl's back.
Karl looks over his shoulder and notices what's happening. He takes a step away from the safe and looks at his secretary through the window. She quickly runs to the phone. Dubliner and Dominick step towards the safe and as they're about to reach inside, Karl pushes the door closed. Dub points his gun at Karl's head.
"Do it. You can't get the numbers from a dead man. No kind of business comes from a dead man!" "You've been nothing but bad business for the last month, Karl." Dominick yells. Dubliner cocks back and swings the butt of his pistol across Karl's face.
"We can break it open back at the bar!" Dominick yells, "Help me haul it out to the car!"
Just as the two pick up the safe, police sirens start pulling into the dockyard. Dub looks at Dominick.
"It's fine! The police chief is in our pockets!" Dominick smiles as he sets the safe down for Dub to prop up as Dominick walks towards the door.
"Gentlemen! I appreciate your speedy manner of making it out her--" Gunshots ring out whizzing past Dominick and lodging into the side of the building and the door, "Christ!!" Dominick ducks back into the door.
"Someone's been greasing some hands!" Dubliner yells. "Where's our backup?!" |

Dominick gripped the handle to the door, his knuckles paling as his grip tightened! Who could blame him though, the damn coppers were pelting them with lead! His right hand reached back into his waistband, curling his fingers around the grip of his pistol. A heavy breath tumbled from his lips as he'd whip it around the side of the door, hailing the officers with a volley fire. "You fucks! I have places to be, we don't have time for this!" Dominick growled as he'd pull in his pistol, and change out the magazine for a full one. Dominick would glance through the cabin of the vehicle, to Dubliner . "You alright there? I think that Kraut back there's rather.. sour, over his safe." He'd offer a playful wink as he'd bite his tongue. "Dammit!" He'd curse, as the passenger window shattered above him, littering him with shards of glass. "Alright, Dub, we're going to have to call in some calvary, but it'll cost us our car! On the count of three, jump in, and stay low! Accelerate right into those fuckers, got it?" "Sure, yeah!" Dubliner would respond, slightly nervous as it was one of his first runs as an associate of The PwNY Express. "One, two.. GET IN! Go go go!" Dominick laid in against the dashboard as he canted his pistol above him, sending lead downrange as Dubliner accelerated straight ahead. Suddenly their vehicle collided with the patrol car, shrapnel was sent in every directions as the metal twisted and warped. Dominick hit the dashboard hard, grunting as the vehicles finally settled. "Dub, stay with me! We've got this! Our guys are just outside the compound, they've had to hear all this shit. " Dominick stepped out of the vehicle, his pistol scanning for where the cops had taken off to. However, to their luck, the patrol that had taken aim at them were incapacitated. Two officers laid at the side of their vehicle, knocked out after the vehicles collided. "Don't kill them, we don't need that heat. Their guns though? Take 'em, we'll toss 'em in our armory." Dominick collected the first officers sidearm, and even took up his ammunition before looking back for Dubliner. "Once the calvary comes in, we'll get out of here with that safe." It was then that he heard the wails and sirens of several police cars in the distance. Seemed like the officers had called for their own backup just as the vehicles were slammed into each other! A smile suddenly curled at the corners of his lips as he heard the rip of a Tommy gun, brrrrrraaaap, braaaapbrapbrap braaaaaap! It had seemed their calvary was ahead of the incoming wave of patrol cars, their getaway vehicle ha arrived! Who was it though? "Dubliner! Hear that? That's fucking music to my ears, The PwNY Express's in town, wonder who's behind the wheel? Come on, let's get this safe ready." |

Speeding through the docks wielding a tommy gun out his window, Leftyy comes to a screeching stop. Immediately opening his door, the young mobster positions himself out of his window to cover his familys retreat. Motioning for them as the sirens grow louder, the faint sound of men's shouts could barely just be made out. "We gotta hurry boys", Leftyy says as he hops down and opens the back door. "Yeah no shit, Left! Where were you?", Dominick yells hauling the safe with Dubliner "I had some uhh... difficulties getting here sir", Leftyy responds as the 2 men rush to his car. The car in the lead for the manhunt on the docks veered around a container and headed towards the PwNY crew. Leftyy was ready though, opening fire on the vehicle he managed to take out one of the front wheels. Dubliner and Dominick both got the safe in, jumping inside behind it and Leftyy took off. The driver door still open, Left spun the wheel and headed for the exit on the opposite side. Taking the high speed pursuit as a chance to light one of his hand rolled cigarettes mixed with some tea from Taiwan. "Y'know back home I did shit like this for a lot less cash, bout the same risk.", Left exclaims exhaling smoke as he makes a turn. As the car evened out, headlights could be seen coming towards them. Leftyy begins to accelerate and widens the turning radius in an attempt to go around. The cop car veers in an attempt to block their path, Leftyy slams the brakes and whips the wheel around. Both cars stop parallel to each other, door to door as the fumes of burnt rubber come off the pavement. Leftyy tips his cap towards the cop and begins to pull around, the temporarily stunned cop snapped back into reality with the sound of his car grinding against another. He stomps on the pedal in an attempt to fishtail the suspects, his delayed reaction was too little too late and Leftyy immediately regained control and sped off. "Where to boys?", Leftyy asks with the sound of sirens still on their tail. |

Dubliner hollered directions to Leftyy as he stuck his head out of the passenger window shooting back at the cops' tires to try and force them to lose control. Dominick sits in the back seat with the safe awkwardly stuffed in. He quickly pushes the safe right behind Leftyy knowing the last thing we needed was to have our driver take a bullet to the back of the head. Unfortunately, the car was now favoring the back left of the car. Dubliner was now sitting half a foot higher than normal.
"Hang a left here!" Dubliner shouts.
Leftyy pulls a sharp left hand turn into an alley way, too quick of a turn for the police to match. They fly past the alleyway and continue on to try and cut off the three men on the other end of the alley.
"Back out, back out." Dubliner tells Leftyy as he shifts gears.
The three men come backing out of the alleyway, their vehicle covered in dents attracting all sorts of unwanted attention from the local populace. The sound of distant police sirens coming from the dockyard 2 miles back are heard approaching. Backup. Then the sound of others coming from the direction they were first headed.
"Well..." Leftyy mumbles, "What's the plan?" "Back to the Dockyard, pick a warehouse and stay in it. We can wait them out."
Lefty puts the car into gear and peels out back towards the Dockyard. They zip past the surprised group of officers driving opposite of them. They now have to turn around giving the men enough time to pick a warehouse and hide out. As Dubliner steps out of the car, he sees Dominick standing in a corner holding some sort of device.
"What is that?" Dub inquires. |

Dominick could only be heard laughing as he situated the safe behind Leftyy . There was definitely something up, amid all the chaos, there was a plan in effect. Controlled chaos is what it was, and shit was about to go down. Dominick would then sit back against his seat, lighting another cigarette before extending his hand out the window, presenting the police with the bird. "Oh fuck you too..!" A tumble of laughter escaped his lips as his weight shifted with the extreme maneuvers. "Leftyy, easy! You're going to set off this fancy new dynamite!" That's right, all that laughter and menacing giggling was over the dynamite that they had come across recently. Not only that, but a long fuse had been lit just as the safe was loaded. The fuse led to a few sticks placed beneath the office structure they had run out of. It was a way of insurance, had shit hit the fan, a heavier message was absolutely necessary. "Lefty, that warehouse right there. It's ours. Park it and let's watch." A grin perched upon his lips as the car jerked and hauled into the warehouse. Dominick would step out, taking a drag from his cigarette as he'd move to shut the warehouse door before returning to the window. " Dubliner , Check this out. You won't want to miss this." Dominick laughed, as he took a longer drag, his brows narrowing as his gaze focused out into the dockyard. "Five.. Four Thr-.. Oh. Hello." The corners of his lips curled as an explosion ripped the office apart, flames raging high above the roof. The window of the warehouse rattled as the shock rolled through the area. Simply beautiful. "We'll be back to visit the new Port Director. Until then, let's head back to the headquarters, I've got a chest full of cold brew." Dominick chuckled softly as the squad of police cars accelerated toward the destroyed office, sirens blaring by. He'd turn and point to another vehicle, covered in a dusty tarp. "There she is. Leftyy, get us out of here. Dub, the safe. It's payday, gentlemen." |

Leftyy lit a cigarette as he exited the vehicle, the other two PwNY's began to work on getting the safe out of the back. The barrel of his tommy could be seen underneath his overcoat as he made his way to the parked car, pulling the tarp off with his open hand. He opened the door and placed the M1921 inside, he then pulled the keys tucked in the sun visor out and started the engine. The others had made their way over with the safe, Leftyy opened the back door and ran back to the abandoned vehicle. He pulled out a pre-prepared molotov from the dash, he had stolen the rig on the way to job and had stashed it in preparation. He lit the cloth, using the flame to relight his cigarette as he put some distance between him and the car. He turned and tossed the bottle inside, the sound of shattering glass and the crackling of flames seemed amplified in the quiet of the night. "All right boys let's get outta here. I can have that open in 5 minutes or less we can get back.", Leftyy said, a cloud of smoke coming from his mouth Leftyy had learned everything he knew on the go as a small timer in his home, but when he hit the big leagues in the big apple he had been refined into one of the best safecrackers. He would make his time. "Well let's hurry this up, beer gets cold y'know?", Dom cracked from the passenger seat with a grin Leftyy hopped into the driver side and took off, he told them the story of how he had carjacked some kids after crashing his own ride escaping from a job he pulled on the post office. They had been smoking a joint and were really confused until a tommy was pointed in their faces. Dom took his turn to tell everyone about how he had singlehandedly snuck into the docks and rigged it to blow as an insurance policy. Dom had a knack for makeshift insurance policies like this. As the crew sat and chatted, Leftyy noticed something peculiar in his rearview. "I think we're being followed boys." |

Dubliner turned and looked out the back window at the car hanging behind them. "Damn, word travels fast when you blow up a foreman's office..." Dubliner slightly rolls his eyes towards Dominick. "Pull over when you can. Dom, it's the Dockyard's Labor Union. You wanna do the talking or do you want me to handle this? In my humble opinion, violence isn't the answer with these guys. Can cause more problems for us in the long run, but you're the boss, I'm sure you know this already."
Leftyy pulls the car off to the shoulder of the road and sets it in park. He gets out, tommy gun in hand should things go south. Dubliner and Dominick step out of the backseat and walk around to the trunk as the tailing vehicle pulls over behind them. The Union Leaders beginning filing out of their vehicle as Dubliner whispers to Dominick, "Your call. You wanna do this, or you want me to?" |
