With all of the ruckus happening down in the mayoral elections of LA, Alfieri decided it was time for some stability in his own city of Las Vegas. Accompanied by a man of whom Alfieri had worked closely for a while now, he stood in the very same room he had been in only a week before, upon his promotion to CEO of The Iguana Corporation. Ever since the reign of Ron Mexico, The Iguana business had been funding a mayor campaign from an individual quite close to the business. After a gruelling campaign, the polls had finally come in and with a bit of 'assistance' in the counting, their efforts were successful. Alfieri nodded towards the man and headed out of the doors once more, into the now not so strange flashes of cameras and hordes of reporters. The man accompanied Alfieri to the stage and sat, allowing Alfieri to introduce him. "Ladies and Gentlemen..", the crowd burst into applause, confetti flying everywhere, banners hung all around, and posters reading 'I luv u Alfy' held high. Alfieri held his hand up to usher in silence once more. "It wasn't easy getting us here today. With the funding of the Iguana Corporation, we pulled off a mayoral campaign that stunned the masses, bringing a man from obscurity to stardom in Las Vegas in what was one of the greatest comebacks in election history. He promised this city greatness and he will be working his hardest to fulfill that promise! Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you the new mayor of Las Vegas...Boris Yurinov!" |

Boris 'The Blade' Yurinov stands up, nods his thanks to Alfieri and makes his way to take centre stage. He pauses for a moment and smiles upon the sight of many members of the audience nudging their fellow listeners and muttering the question "Er...Who's that?" Ladies and Gentlemen, It's a tremendous honour and privilege to be elected as Mayor of Las Vegas and I'm acutely conscious of that honour and that privilege. Today as well as having in my mind the priorities that people want, I have the knowledge, as well as the determination and commitment, to deliver them. The great thing about the election is that you go out and talk to people for week upon week. And I've listened and I've learned, and I think I've a very clear idea what the people now expect from the Mayor of Las Vegas.And I want to say to them very directly that I am going to focus relentlessly now on the priorities that people have set for me. What are those priorities? Firstly, in relation to the public services,health and education, people like the investment that has gone into public services thus far, they welcome it. I have found absolutely no support for any suggestion that investment is to be cut back. The people want that money to work better for them, they want higher standards, both of care and of education for the investment that they are putting in. Therefore, spending on public services will increase during my term as Mayor and I shall strive to better the public services. Secondly, I've been struck again and again in the course of this campaign by people worrying that in our city today, though they like the fact we have got over the deference of the past, there is a disrespect that people don't like. And whether it's in the classroom, or on the street in town centres on a Friday or Saturday night, I want to focus on this issue. A lot has been done so far with anti-social orders and additional numbers of police, but I want to better this and make it a particular priority for this office. I want to bring back a proper sense of respect in our schools, in our communities, in our streets and our suburbs. However, the most common and grave concern that I have found is the current weak state of our economy. The people of Las Vegas would like a strong economy, but our streets are suffering. Life is a real struggle for many people and many families are struggling to make ends meet. Businesses would like economic stability and also want us to focus on stimulating enterprise on investing in businesses for the future. Our central business district is only a shadow of what it could be, what it should be. I could stand before you today and make any number of false promises about how I will solve the problem of our economy - the most pressing of problems. Fortunately, thanks to The Iguana Corporation of Las Vegas, a lie is not required of me. The redevelopment of Las Vegas' business district has already begun. The Iguana Coperation have invested a large amount of funds in order to entirely redevelop the business district of Las Vegas. You may have seen familiar faces of the Iguana Corporation, such as NikkiPhoenix, walking around half finished buildings and skyscrapers supervising the construction work going on there. Now your curiosity is satisfied. There are talks of Casinos, City wide Poker Tournaments, Bookies focusing primarily on Sporting events, classy Bars and Hotels in an attempt to convert our boarded up bars into the central business hub of our Six Cities. I imagine there will also be opportunities for businesses from outside of our city to rent or buy property in the business district. It is time, citizens of Las Vegas, to look forward to a better future. Thank you for your time Ladies and Gentlemen, are there any questions? I still say that I always lose my shirt in LasVegas If you take my money I should at least get a free shrit out of the whipping that I recieve. So how about one the says: "Yes I got beat in Vegas" |
