Kharon, the ferryman, was sitting in his office reading the newspaper. A cup of warm coffee in his hand, he leaned back in his chair and let out a content sigh. “What a lazy day, nothing noteworthy to do but to relax. What could possibly go wrong today?” Without warning, the door slammed open and Hank_Moody barged through. “Boss, boss! You gotta hear this, you gotta hear!” Kharon jumped up, startled by Hank’s sudden intrusion. “For Hades’ sake, Hank! Look what you did! You know damn well I am not to be disturbed before I’ve had my morning coffee! Now what is so important you had to storm into my office like that?” Hank_Moody took a few seconds to regain himself, but spoke with the same excitement once more. “Oh, it’s big news boss, I tell’s ya. Biggest news of the week for sure!” Kharon sighed. “Fine, Hank, sit down and let’s discuss this ‘important news’ you have for me”. “No can do, boss, no can do. I gotta tell you right away. One of my undercover agents told me something about TylerDurden.” “Well, what is it then? Spit it out already!” “I’d rather just show you, boss.” With a grin wide enough to span his entire face, Hank reached into his inner pocket and pulled out single, shiny golden bough. Kharon’s eyes widened, took the bough from Hank’s hands and looked at it in awe. “Is this....?” “It is, boss, it is. What you have it your hands right there is TylerDurden’s golden bough. Without it, he is no longer protected. We can finally carry him to the other side, boss!” “Well what are you waiting for, an invitation? Ready the ship at once, rally the men, we set sail tonight!” Hank hesitated, his look of excitement was swiftly replaced with a restrained look of uneasiness. “That’s the problem there, boss. We’re here in Las Vegas, but there isn’t no water in Las Vegas, boss. How can our ship set sail?” Kharon sank bank into his chair and said to Hank: “You’re right, Hank, we need water to sail. But how can we find water in this damned desert?” For a while, the room went silent. Both men struggled to speak, their thoughts consumed by the matter at hand. Kharon looked out the window. Suddenly, he spoke up. “By Zeus’ beard, Hank, I’ve got it. You and I may not be able to think of anything, but why limit the thinking to just the two of us? There are thousands of people in this town, there is bound to be a good idea stored in someone’s mind. We’ll just ask the people to come up with an idea.” Kharon and Hank left their Headquarters and made their way to the City Hall. Drawn to the rumors, people were gathered to hear Kharon speak. As he walked up the stairs, the crowd stopped and stared. Kharon, standing at the brim of a balcony overlooking the large gathering of people, smiled brightly. His voice boomed across the hall, an almost otherworldly sound carried with it. Silence befell the people. “People of City Hall! Hear my words that they might reach you! The rumors are true, the one you know as TylerDurden no longer has his golden bough in his possession. Finally we can take him to the other side. Finally he can meet his demise. Finally, we can bring justice.” People looked out in awe at Kharon’s words, eager to hear more. Kharon continued, his words booming evermore. “Now this where you come in, fine people of City Hall! To get a person to the other side a ferryman must sail, but to sail we need water. A sea, a lake, a river, anything that might carry my ship in all its glory. Alas, my fine people, we live in a desert. A barren, desolate slab of land void of any creek, pond or stream! It is up to you, to find me a way to sail. To find me a way to bring people to other side once more. The men and women here are gifted, truly they are. I want to know your ideas, your designs, and your plans. Bring me anything that shows your concept for this challenge. Challenge? Dare I say, we’ll make it a contest! The one among you with the best workable idea, of any kind, will be justly rewarded. Make it grand, make it great, but most of all, make it work. The contest closes at sundown on Wednesday, the 19th of April. Gather here in this hall once more, and I shall measure the worth of your plans. Bring justice, my fellow people, bring justice to TylerDurden!” Kharon’s voice was silenced, but ringed in the ears of the crowd for the moments to come. The people slowly dispersed, wandering off with a look of determination on their faces. Kharon looked out across the crowd and smiled. Soflty, he spoke to himself. “This will work, we will sail once more. We’re coming for you, Tyler…” |

Hank returns to his apartment and tries to relax. Tries to sleep, but it isnt possible. How can Kharon end the reign of terror that the Durdens have imposed on all of us, all of our great cities, if we cannot launch the boat? There must be a solution. There has to be a way. As he sits alone, self medicating with his daily quota of whiskey, he ponders all the options. Las Vegas has water... but not enough. A bathtub?, a swimming pool?, the fountain outside of the hotel? None of these will work. We need a natural body of water. One that will allow Kharon to sail and deliver Tyler himself to hell. Nearing the bottom of the bottle, which is where the solutions to all of lifes problems resides, it dawns on him... the mighty Colorado River. Picking up the phone he closes one eye and slowly dials the number to the HQ. The phone rings and rings and rings, when finally a sleepy voice answers... "Yeah.... um.... who is this?" Hank doesnt recognize the voice on the other end of the phone, but proceeds to ramble on with his idea. "Its Hank. I got an idea!! That dam. That damn dam! You know the dam I mean right? They just built the damn thing. Its not far from Vegas. We need to get Tyler down there. South of the damn dam!! The river. The Colorado. Let Kharon know the river is how we make this happen. We gotta get his evil ass to the river!! Just tell him. It has to be there." The silence on the other end of the line is broken with laughter." "The damn dam? How fucked up are you Hank? Its 4am and you are talking about dams and rivers and Durdens... you ok?" "Yeah, Im OK!! Just get the boss and let him know we can sail, in Nevada. Tyler can die and we need to make it happen soon." |

Angy was flipping through a fashion magazine sitting with her legs resting on a stool on the porch of her house when she noticed a figure passing quickly as if out of control. Looking better Angy noticed that it was Hank_Moody Kharon's right hand.

Tris was looking around, keeping an eye on her surroundings. She saw a plea for help. It was her chance to help orchestrate a plan. She racked her brains, trying to remember where a body of water may be. Then it hit her, it was like a ton of bricks and she felt stupid for taking so long to figure it out. She approached Kharon and shared her revelation. "The answer is simple." she said "Even in the desert you can still find water. You find a cactus if your just trying to find something quick to drink. But in your case, Your looking for a body of water big enough to sail a ship" She took a quick look around. Having to constantly watch her back was getting old. "There is a lake about 30 miles south of Sin City, Its man made but offers a 360 degree protection if you anchor the ship in the middle. the shores would still be in range of the cannons." She lit up a cigarette... "Option B is you fly to LA. Venice beach is a nice place this time of year. plus it is off the Pacific Ocean which obviously has plenty of room for you to set sail" |

upon hearing of the news that we may finally get Tyler Durden to the other side but we needed a lake or river etc, Donshaw_ heads to The Golden Bough HQ Making pit stops at every last bar in this beautiful city,
Hours pass eventually He stumbles into the Head Quarters immensely intoxicated smelling of pure Whisky he climbs the stairs, barging into Don Kharon's office.
Pouring himself yet another drink he says "sorry for the intrusion at this late hour boss but i know how we can set sail, There is a massive lake in sunset park in Paradise if that isnt big enough just a block south of the park is a river that runs through Vegas" |

As soon as Sirius arrived at the Golden Bough HQ he heard voices debating something, he followed the voices and found Kharon asking Hank_Moody how to sail through sand to finally end TylerDurden's legacy. He poured himself a drink from the bar without interrupting trying to find a way to reach their goal. More people start coming to the HQ and as he was hearing other people suggestions he remembered a story that he heard somewhere while waiting for a delivery and aproached them saying "We should build a Sailing carriage, with wheels you know" Others looked at him like he was some lunatic.... He continued
He got a cigar from his inner pocket, lighted it and inhaled the smoke slowly, as waiting people to think about it "That's a way to sail through sand, but if you guys don't like that ideia we could always make our enemies to cry us a river" added with a smile. |

In the early morning, Kharon opened his mailbox with anticipation. After all, the contest he had set out for the people of Las Vegas was only a day or so away, and he was excited to read what people had come up with. Letter after letter, drawing after drawing and theory after theory, Kharon started reading every letter that had been sent to him in the last couple of days. Most of the ideas that had been sent in were either not even remotely possible or has already been tested out by him and his men. Others were simply a stroke of genius written by the strong mind of one of his fellow citizens. To his surprise, however, there was another vast majority of letters not containing any ideas or plans. Instead, these letters pleaded with Kharon, asking him to extend his “impossible to meet” deadline. “Please give us more time”, they would read. “I simply must have an extra day, maybe two to make my plan work”, another would say. One that in particular peaked Kharon’s interest read:
Kharon was torn. On the one hand, his deadline had been set and he was not a man to change this on a whim. On the other hand, giving the people more time could create even better ideas to allow him to sail again. And it would certainly win over the hearts of the citizens by granting them the gift of extended time. “Let it be so”, Kharon said to himself, “the contest shall be extended to sundown on this Sunday! After that, no more delays! It’s time we’d end this ordeal once and for all. I’d better go and inform Hank we need to get the new deadline out to the people as soon as possible. Time flows and moves rapidly, Sunday will be here before we know it!” And with that Kharon picked up his notes, put on his coat and stepped out into the hallway. Slowly, he closed the door behind him. |

Kharon sat down behind his desk and put all the options of sailing TylerDurden to the other side on the table. First there was Hank_Moody.
The damn, brilliant idea. We only need to bring the boat over there. That is the same problem as not being able to sail directly from Las Vegas. Second idea came from Tris
Perfectly explained and even two options. But the same problem as going to the dam, we need to get there first. And flying to LA is not really an option. It will not be easy to get the boat on a plane and fly there. DonShaw_ gave good information
That is really an option DonShaw_. Only a lot of work has to be done if we want to make a the lake connect to the river that runs through Vegas. Its definitely a plan to work out more. Sirius, who is always reading books in the HQ, came up with an idea that sounds like it could work.
As he quoted from the book " Book of the Golden Hall Master" written by the Daoist scholar and crown prince Xiao Yi. The last letter was from Kathryn.
I have to think about the retractable wheels, but the sound of the Mojave Desert being my ocean sounds great. Now I have to make a decision how we are going to get TylerDurden into my ship and get him to the other side. The strange thing about TylerDurden is that whatever we try to kill him and bury him, or what I want to try is sail him to the other world, he always all of a sudden miraculously was brought to life again. The rumor says it is the Gods that bring him back all the time. In our enthousiasme to finish TylerDurden and his crew coming to our world we have neglected the mysterious rebirth of him and his crew. Of course you will all be rewarded for your entrance to this challenge and I will discuss the possibilities with my people. Since we still need to do a lot of work, we better get back to the drawing table and work on the blue prints. If I ever come up with THE solution, I will tell you all. |
