After hearing bleating children cry and whine about things that weren't true, Disorder eventually felt the repetition of a popular falsehood needed to be addressed. Walking out into the streets he grabbed a cappuccino from a popular coffee spot and stood on the steps of the local square. 

"Many things have been said about me and my approach to people who work for me and around me. Most of what has been spouted is wrong. I don't blame anyone for it being wrong, sensationalism is so much more appealing than the simple truth after all. Hell, I find a lot of what is written and said about me, highly entertaining. It's far more colourful than reality. However when one subject gets brought up and falsely hammered over and over, I feel I should once again clarify what my position has always been. So, lets talk about lineage.

It has been my broad experience that many people's ideas of their own importance are hugely inflated. The sense that they would be disposed of simply because of their lineage is only really there to increase their own feeling of significance. It may have been relevant to other people in the past but I can assure you, it never has been to me. I'm sure it's a lovely fantasy that makes a person feel special and significant but I'm afraid they just aren't. Truth is, it really doesn't matter. To think that they will be forever revered because their ancestor did something that made the news is simply not true. The belief that they are somehow a terrible threat, some looming worry that I can't endure, is misguided at best. 

As for my policy? In practical application I've always wanted to know who someone was and the line they came from. Just like a lot of traditional mafia families, I want 'to be able to trace all ancestors, right back to the old country'. When people have come to me I've always made the same speech and made a few things really, really clear.

'You tell me who you are and I will forever protect your identity from the rest of the world. If you don't trust me with your identity, how do you expect me to go and risk my life to keep you safe? If you don't want to tell me who you are, that's absolutely fine, there are many other families around for you to choose from.'

I've said this to everyone that has approached me since day one. It's always been the case. Now I'm sure that there will be cries that this isn't the truth and so on. As is so often the case, people talk a whole lot of shit but the truth is only ever revealed in their actions. So lets look at some facts. Evidence in action.

My supposed prejudice and discrimination against people because of their bloodlines has so far seen me embrace and protect a long list of bloodlines whose members who have opposed me, fought against me, tried to kill me and generally just hated me over the years. Along with bloodlines whose members who have killed my friends, fought against each other, been horrendous trolls, BG shooters and all sorts. A lot of them are still enjoying rich and fulfilling lives under my protection. There are a lot more than you may think.

Lets also look at my terrible refusal to accept into power, anyone who has opposed me. This is evidenced wonderfully by the fact we have seen no fewer than eight unlikely crew leaders appear under my reign, all from lineages that have either killed my ancestors or spent many years opposing them. One of those people was even made a Godfather of his own city. Even a member of the bloodline that had my own father killed is now in rude health as a valued leader in my own city. 

So in conclusion, I know trying to blame me for discrimination makes for a nice excuse as to why your family may have just died or why you aren't doing so well with your life, but it isn't the truth. I know the truth may be either more boring or harder to swallow but that's life. I've killed a great many people for a lot of reasons but who their ancestors were is almost never a consideration; as much as vanity-afflicted children may wish to think otherwise, it absolutely wasn't the case with Chicago."

Taking a nice sip of his tasty coffee, he smiled at the sunny sky and the enjoyable spring day that lay ahead.

"But, as I've said before, please don't let the truth get in the way of your agendas. They make for some quite sensational outbursts. Highly entertaining. My words here this morning are simply for the more grounded among you, that may actually care to hear something even remotely founded in fact." 

Nodding to a few attentive faces, he strolled down the steps and walked through the crowd into the lovely morning. 

Thank you for allowing these insights into the facts of our present time. The truckload of false statements, negative whispers and disrespectful accusations became tiresome. Your words here are much welcome for those who seek stability and honesty in this life.

I’m not really mad at those screamers and shouters that confuse me on a daily basis, because they simply can’t possess the full wealth of information that only exists in the mind of the person who initiates every action that is being discussed. You are the expert, the authority on what’s happening by your call.

All others are merely vocal passersby who report from the scarce few shards of reality they experience. A pretty human thing to do, to form an opinion based on that what information is available. You are the one and only that is able to correct their misinterpretations of what happens in this world. For some reason you don’t do that, but you only tell them that they are wrong, but you are not providing the information to make them see that.

Sure, you have a leader in Vegas whose ancestor called for your father’s head in the night his long-standing partner got killed as well. You tolerate one in New York and there will be plenty of others around that are alive today. That fact is not proving that lineage-motivated murder isn’t taking place.

Let’s focus on another issue that was brought up - Niflheim involvement. Personally I think you are way too smart and realistic to be pushed around by this notorious group. Giving their tactical strength, working with them however is a smart thing to do. So I’m pretty much ignoring those accusations of them pulling the strings. However the information that surfaces, the stories that are being told and the people we find in the obits do hint that they have an influence in actions that leave many in doubt over the actual need for those actions.

With so many rumours, negative sentiment surrounding this group and the disapproving of their tactics, you never cared to address that topic. I hope that Niflheim, or their former members are all simply serving the agenda of Disorder and Las Vegas. Hell, I’d understand if some are among the most trusted in your operation. But with all that happens, it feels that their assumed agenda gets a place within Las Vegas, with no other apparent benefit to the Las Vegas operation. Sure, being friendly with them keeps the city very strong. That is a legit reason, but it asks the question whether you and other leaders agree with that agenda or whether their agenda holds a grip over the other Vegas leaders out of need. Both options are fine, although one involves selling out on your own identity. But whatever it is, the truth to that story is one for you to share. In the meantime all the people can do is assume on that what they witness. And that’s simply not pretty.

You have been open and honest about the culling and purges. It makes complete sense and it helps to keep you in power. I don’t really agree with that approach, because I think with your position comes a broader responsibility that can still keep you in power while displaying a bit more care for the greater community. But that’s a perfect example of where what you communicate can lay all rumours to rest. By communicating your true intent. But in a lot of other cases you only share that it’s not as dark as commonly perceived. And people don’t necessarily want you to admit it’s all evil, but being a bit more convincing that you handle with fair intent might help in preventing all these negative stories.

So many things have happened that go unanswered. People fail to see why some people and families have to die. They fail to understand the practical benefit or need to your operation of some of the actions you initiate. You have the reasons probably, but people have to do with your assurances that it’s not what they think. That’s not helping them see straight. That’s keeping them in the dark while telling there’s a light somewhere.

And it’s not your responsibility to share all you know and spread all that is true. But you are the doorway between the worlds of whispers and that of truth. You can open up and bring people to the truth, whether it’s ugly or not. But you don’t. You just say that on the other end of the door, all is well and as fair as can be given the nature of our profession. But with all people witness in the shadows, it’s very hard to believe in just reasons for all your actions.

With all that said, I admit that I don’t really care for what’s true about the past. I’m more interested to learn what you hope for the future. It’s a given you don’t need a more broad social approval of who you are. But what do you want for this what we have?  Do you want it to grow? Do you want people to have an engaging experience? Are you having an engaging experience? Are you involved in an entertaining society or are you working the assembly line, bringing down the hammer when the next puppet rolls past that got this far?
 

Although I understand I should’ve probably gone different about this. It’s not meant mockingly. I genuinely am interested to learn where you want this whole thing to go to.

Tommo has just been to his local butchers buying some premium quality steaks for the night's dinner when he saw Disorder step onto the soap box. He listened to each word being spoken as carefully as the next nodding along at the parts he thought were uniquely interesting. Tock was the first to respond and some very good points himself. I cannot say I know why the events that took place happened all I know is that they did and there is nothing anyone can do to change that. What can be changed is the reaction, to come to these streets in a temper like a child is disrespectful to everyone in this thing of ours and that is the reaction we have seen the most. I would be very interested to hear every side of the argument but please make it intelligent like the two gentlemen that have spoken before me.

I understand that watching family members die is incredibly hard especially when you know how hard they worked for that progress, but that is the nature of this thing. It has been said time and time again but it really is the truth that the nature of our business is ugly, men and women will die, we will all die when our time comes - some of us quietly in some Tuscan village after passing the torch but most of us will be killed in a war or overnight in our sleep. If you can't deal with that then I suggest you find a different form of employment.

In my honest opinion Disorder owes no explanation for his actions, if you want one then ask him face to face but saying he owes one to the general public shows a distinct misunderstanding of the business you claim to be part of.

Tommo, I don't believe it was said that Disorder owes an explanation. Tock is explaining from his point of view how he feels about certain things. Actually I believe they said it quite better than I could and there is nothing wrong with what was said.  

I can admit that I find myself a little curious about the future and I think that those questions that were brought up are fairly reasonable.

Godfather Disorder - you win.  There is no doubts about that in my humble and worthless opinion.  To the point of sharing bloodlines within your walls though?  That's your prerogative and you've earned it.  I feel that anyone that has an issue with it perhaps has their anger misplaced...

There's a lot of blood in these streets.  For all the hatred you receive - I, for one, believe this to be the cause; not how you go about building your family business.  It's a peculiar situation when the majority  of the community wouldn't mind seeing your name in red, but the same majority can't do anything about it.  

So, Tock makes an interesting point.  What now?  The past is the past.  Let's keep it professional and move on.   What see you for the future?  It's a fair question I believe.  

At the end of the day, you have to do things people won't like. There's a side that will like your choices, there's another side that will not like your choices. Even if it revolves around different information.

The Godfather explains it all so people can hopefully understand, we move on and do not stay in the past, everything happens for a reason.

River, I agree with you that Tock had some very good points and expresses himself very well. I was more talking about several people who have been shouting incessant garbage in the streets and demanding everything to be explained to them.

You make a significant point about the group Niflheim. A few good questions there, a couple I hadn't considered. As you say, the perspective is very different from inside than out. Several of the members of that group are my friends and have been for a long time. Totally independent of the group they belong to, I know them each as individuals. In some cases I only found out about their commonality down the line. I have no prejudice toward that group and have had no bad experiences with any of it's membership but then, I don't deal with that group. No one has ever asked me to do anything to help that group and I have rejected any affiliation with that or any other group, even ones my line have been members of for generations.

The members of Niflheim that work with us have never asked to be recognized under that banner and have all accepted that this is a group united under me. We are all friends and co-workers, nothing more.

There are no Niflheim, no LaFrat, no Who-Err, no anything else you can think of. Almost everyone you can shake a stick at has been associated with one group or another over the years. I've always made a specific point of leaving that shit at the door. Flying those banners only seems to create cliques within groups that reduce the collective effectiveness. Its simply not practical."

Taking another sip of his cappuccino, he moves on to the next point.

"You also raised an issue about the future. I can understand this would seem a little bleak at this moment but it won't be for long. There has been a fair bit of chaos post-war but there are meetings taking place and more scheduled to be held with New York over the empty cities of Chicago and Detroit. There are also steps in motion to create some more public entertainment. We will try to deliver some events and stimulation to the community as well as very real opportunities for people. Things are happening on the creative front, you just won't see them until they are ready."

Disorder shakes Tock by the hand and thanks him for his questions. Turning he also nods a greeting to Tommo and River.

I'm a descendant from a bloodline that hasn't taken part in this thing of ours in a very long time, so even if I was one for politics I would just be talking out of my ass. I would also like to applaud your finesse with such a delicate issue, I don't think I would be capable of handling this situation in the same manner.
