The Circus Has Come To Detroit Started by: Gavin_Guile on Apr 21, '17 08:48

Home sick Gavin Guile lay's in a hammock and stares up at the sky, it had been a long time since he left home. Well it really wasn't a home, most homes did not change locations on a weekly basis. His father left him at a circus before he had died. It wasn't a terrible upbringing, many useful skills had been picked up along the way. With a smile he disappeared inside his head reliving his childhood

Numair he was the magician in the circus. A tall man much over six feet, thin with wavy black hair and a long crooked nose if there was ever someone who could perform magic they would look like that man. Guile spent a few year learning simple card tricks, how to cut the deck how to direct a marks attention to where he wanted them looking. Many of the tricks were beyond him, do to his short child fingers. With hours upon hours of practice, he learned to overcome his short fingers mastering the most advanced card tricks. That is when the real training began, over the next two years he learned everything, from the simplest making flowers appear to throwing fire from one end of the tent to the other. By the final night the circus was in town Numair would memorize the audience and Guile will pick as many pockets clean as he could. The most useful skill the Guile learned from Numair was the quick escape, have the target focus somewhere else than slip out of view disorientating the target and allowing plenty of time for an escape.

The next few years of his life he spent under the tutelage of a much smaller women Vi, well smaller in height with a figure that could make anyone look twice. She often wore many robes, before going out to preform while explaining that she was an escape artist she would disrobe showing off skin tight clothing and gaining everyone’s attention in the tent if she did not already have it. He didn't really notice all that much growing up Vi was like an older sister always looking out for and taking care of him.

Aside from learning how to pick locks which was impressive in itself, there wasn't a lock Vi could not pick in turn there was not a lock Guile couldn't pick. As important as that skill has been to him it wasn't the most important thing that he had learned from her. Vi as any women with her figure, gathered much unwanted male attention. She took to carrying and concealing knives with her at all times, she was amazing with the knives. She could juggle them blind folded, but that was just a nice party trick. She could stab a man ten times in the blink of an eye, he had seen it only once but he had never forgotten it not a drop of blood got on her and the man was dead before he hit the ground. Not only could she stab fast, she could also throw a knife with deadly accuracy. Vi could and on many occasions hit an apple in one of the circus hands mouth. The trick wasn't part of her act, she did it when people upset her as a reminder of how quickly she could get rid of an annoyance.

As soon as he was able to leave the circus on his own free will he did. Taking all of the skills that he had learned with him into the world…. Something wet and cold hit his forehead, blinking and coming out of his thoughts Guile stared up at the now gray sky threatening to rain, a few drops starting to fall. It was time to get ready anyway.

Rolling out of the Hammock he goes into the large circus tent set up, he had it set up to start a circus. With the thought of traveling the roads again with the circus unappealing, a compromise was made. The circus would stay in his new home of Detroit and have free shows for all those who would want to attend, but for tonight a circuses themed party was planned. Jugglers acting as bartenders juggling bottles, magicians preforming small feats of magic in every corner, stilt walkers offering food from the stilts quiet the feet to bend down and offer the food. Finishing with his tie, he was in his best black suit and green shirt, the suit was custom made with pockets everywhere to conceal all he needed but fit like a glove. His trusty green and white hat upon his head looking all the much like a ring master as he can. The streets were plastered with posters, there was no guest list any and everyone was invited. All that was left is to wait for guest to show up.

Coltrane had heard about the party, and was very happy to take part in it. Fascinated since a very young age by magicians and their magic tricks, he would buy some magic books in the hope of learning how to do them. He hated the fact that they where unexplained, left in thick air and blamed on magic.

He finally landed in the Motor City, grabbing his small backpack and his saxophone. He didn't need much, only the things that mattered the most to him. He wanted to become a magician, girls would looove it! The only man who could teach him so many tricks was Gavin_Guile himself, the great circus man.

He walked quickly through the city, which seemed desolated, because everyone was at the party. He could hear the loud music from here, already picking out the chords and figure how he could improvise on them. He was familiar with this city, his great-uncle Conn had already been here a while back, in his last few days. He shook his head, chasing the bad memories away. He couldn't think about him, not now anyways.

He finally got to the huge tent, looking among all the faces there for a familiar one. He quickly spotted Gavin, wearing a fancy ring master hat. He made his way towards him, walking through the mass of people attending the party.

"Congratulations on the new crew! A very bold and courageous move, I'll do my best to help you out as much as I can!" he said, with a big smile on his face. This was going to be a great adventure.
