It took Fisk a while to realise, but while sat in his hotel room picking fiendishly at a knot in the tables hard wood surface, he soon came to the conclusion that no matter how hard he tried, he could not find any way to spend his time over Christmas Within his field of business he could have what he wanted and when he wanted it, there was little to get in the way so long as he kept to the rules. So what to do over Christmas? Looking at his watch, he sighed and looked out of a grotty window, the paint along the frame peeling away from the rotting wood He then remembered a figure he had seen the last time he was on the streets, having a short discussion a few days earlier. Grabbing his coat he had a notion, he pushed through the door and let it click behind him. His hat sat snug on his head though his collar was turned high as he faced the blistering winds on his way to the soup kitchen, to give something back |
