It's a new life, now. Started by: George_Costanza on Jun 10, '10 16:55

:George sits in his office, staring, unseeing, into the busy Los Angeles street below.  He reflects on how things have changed for him over the past month:

Just a few weeks ago, he thinks to himself, I was serving my boss, just like any other yuppie on the planet, just doing my best to get by and to make my family proud.  Now, I’ve got a family of my own, and command over the very lives of 25 other gangsters, just like myself.  In this short time I’ve watched my boss become the godfather of Los Angeles, my friends step up around me to accept greater responsibilities, and my own crew expand from a mere 4 members.

:He considers, for a time, the pleasure that this sort of growth and development brings.

It is like watching a toddler tentatively take his first steps, he muses.  And then, eventually, he or she is walking tall and confidently.  This is a tremendous gift that we have been given here.  We are beginning to take our steps with more confidence now.  We must be careful not to become stagnant or take this position for granted.  We must remember the hard work that has led us here, and that our efforts are not finished with.

:A ringing phone brings George back into reality.  With a frown, he picks up:

“Henry!” he says as his expression immediately softens.  “You’ve got the updates from the Levinson brothers?  Excellent.  Uh huh…”  He begins scribbling down numbers, “Right…ok, thanks Henry.  Keep up the good work, and be sure to give the Levinsons a little something from me.”  He hung up.

:It was still difficult for George to become accustomed to the activity fluttering around him at all times.  The money that Henry and his accountants must constantly be laundering and accounting for, having large groups of people follow him around relentlessly, the new recruits who must be trained correctly in the ways of the world.  It was safe to say that his day-to-day activities had changed drastically over the past few weeks:

“But one thing’s for sure,” he said out loud to himself.  “It allowed me to keep engaging myself in the parts of this world that I love.  I foster the relationships with old friends, forge them with new ones, commit crimes and earn money as a part of a family, and I even get to train bright-eyed youngsters and assert the ways of my ancestors.  It’s a great source of pride to honor their memories in such a way.”

:Replacing his financial files in his desk drawer, George leaves his office and sets off down the hall to share a few drinks with his family in the Headquarters’ bar and offer them stories of the old days:

George its crazy what happens in this thing of ours. I was just talking to one of my brothers about it. You start out in this life snatching purses talking with some guy about joining their crew and Selling beer at a high price while the future ends up holding something you only dreamed of.

I remember Meeting Mux on the street and he was talking about how i could dwell in the past. I remember wanting to be like Crazynine and Mux because they were the baddest Mobsters i had ever seen. I remember The Day Mux had died and how i was so unsure about what would happen. I think about how Crazynine took me in and let me walk alongside with him. When he gave me the Choice to go to philly or to stay in ST. Louis. I always wanted to be a crewleader. I always wanted to be all big and bold. Under Godfather Serotoin and Under TheSandman and with Haydubs I have been recognized as a crew leader. George i wish only i got the chance to say thankyou to all my old crew leaders for now i know how much hard work and sacrifice they put in.

Absolutely, Singer.  I am eternally grateful to my family members who came before me, as well as their families--especially their bosses.  They've taught me lessons about friendship and honor that I will never forget, and it's really an honor to carry on the legacy of those who came before me as best as I can.

I came to this world asking questions about the deaths of my friends, Jerry and Cosmo.  I met the VeniVidi, the son of their boss, Paul_Vidi.  He asked me to come work with him in New York, under SpaceMountain, which I did.  Though Paul's descendents took a more passive role this time around, I decided to step up and become the man that I knew Cosmo and Jerry had the potential to be.

It makes me very proud to follow in their footsteps, taking with me what they have taught me.

And I hope that Singer and I don't make it seem as if becoming a crew leader is the only way to be significant.  If anyting, what I've learned is that a family may be built around a crew leader, but its power does not lie in his hands.  It is given to him by the men and women who choose to follow him.  Any man or woman, as long as they choose to learn from their fathers and mothers, can develop into a person who can change the very face of our world.
