Landing in Chicago's North Side Started by: TonyCosta on May 12, '17 18:59

Windy City is what everyone outside of Chicago called it, but to the locals it was just called home. The boat ride over had felt like forever but as you finally step off for the first time and onto the pier you knew then and there it was worth it. Besides the cold wind chill you are greeted by many loud noises. Workers were shouting back and forth to each other, families yelling in joy to see members arriving off the same boat, the noise of construction and vehicles, and the sound of two cops yelling at a man in a suit they were chasing. You turn to watch the commotion being caused by the police as they chase the fleeing man. As they run out of sight you think nothing of it as you continue walking to the road..

Finally reaching the street you approach a taxi. The passenger door squeaked as you open it and step inside. Fiddling around in your pocket you remove a note given to you by your cousin back home; on it as an address to an apartment. The last words your cousin left you with were ..'a friend of ours will be by the following morning, they will take care of you...just don't fuck up'

You hand the note to the cab driver and the taxi speeds off. The entire way your attention is out the window at all the beautiful and tall buildings you past. Nothing like this back home, you think to yourself. Finally the cab pulls into a parking lot behind a storefront. You spot a wooden stair case leading up to a door on the second floor. You pay the driver and exit the cab. Immediately it speeds off out of the parking lot. You walk up the stairs and open the door. It leads you into a hallway of apartments that contained four doors and next to one is a man in a suit leaning on the wall. He removes the cigarette from his mouth and exhales the smoke. As the cloud clears you begin to recognize him. It was the man at the pier evading the police.

"You must be the guy, your cousin told me you would be arriving today and to come by tomorrow but he seemed to have forgotten that you needed the key from me to get it.."   he says before approaching you and handing you the key...  " I have to run some errands, check the place out, get settled and I'll be by tomorrow. "

He walks past you and out the door leading to the parking lot while you open up your apartment and head inside. You wonder what tomorrow will be like..

The next day

The thud of knocking on a metal door awakes and startles you. Sliding out of bed you head out of your bedroom door and past the kitchen to the front entrance. Upon looking through the peep hole you notice it's the same gentlemen you had met yesterday. You slide the top lock open before welcoming him in...

Immediately he tells you, "Get dressed kid we got a long day ahead of us."

He heads into the kitchen and makes a pot of coffee while you get ready..

After about five minutes the two of you lock up and exit your apartment. Slowly you hack a cigarette while heading towards his vehicle. Once in he turns on the radio and the two of you are off into the city. You have no idea where exactly you are heading to again, but you know you were going to be in the North Side. The entire drive he explained to you the crews that occupied the district..

"Everyone reports to the Godfather, it's just like the old country in that way. The man we know as Godfather for this district is Prati, he looks like a fucking hare but he's dangerous. The boys over in Vegas sent him down here to keep the local street gangs in line, and in line he's kept them. The cops and mayor are on the take as well and throughout his ranks there's more corrupt agent than there are criminals. Then we got his two crime families that operate with his blessing. Perfect Storm, and the Dandelions. I'm an associate of the latter. The Irishmen Mickey_Bowers runs the Perfect Storm. I know what you're thinking, queue the drunk Irishmen jokes, but this guy is stand up. Runs his crew like a well oiled machine. They are very big into drug trafficking, extortion, racketeering, and heists. The airport is their heist stomping ground. Then there is us the Dandelions, ran by our fearless leader Yeah who is a firecracker. Hell of a gal and she's been a big player around this district since the move from Vegas. Was Consigliere to Prati for awhile before getting the nod to set up shop. Since she set up shop though crime across the entire city has gone up, and today you are going to get to know a few of the crew and help us keep the crime stat numbers through the roof. Just stand up straight, and speak when spoken to, for a bunch of cold blooded killers they are ironically very nice and easy going people."

The rest of the car ride was back and forth small talk about restaurants and stores that serve food and beverages from the old country. Finally you pull up and stop in front of a large building..

"Here it is kid, the Dandelion HQ. Don't fret you are safe here and we'll take good care of you as long as you take good care of the family in return. The families bond with one another is unmatched around the country, those people inside that you will meet would take a bullet for you if you show you would do the same... Now lets head in."

The two of you exit the vehicle and walk up the few stairs leading to the buildings entrance. Out front a few wiseguys stood guard but none of them gave either of you trouble. Heading on inside you walk straight through the bar and to a back room where three gentlemen are already sitting around a table...

"This is the new guy. He's a friend of mine. This is the kid I have been telling you about," the man says to the others before turning back to you, "Take a seat kid and get comfortable as we might be here awhile."

The Hijack

The plans were now chiselled in stone. A local group of hoodlums had been running Canadian whisky in over the border for about a month now but had snuck it over a different way each time. This time however an associate of the crew owed Yeah and TonyCosta a substantial amount of money and after Darkwing... 'persuaded' him a bit he gave up all the intel. There were three trucks,  containing two men with guns in each. The third truck in the convoy would have the goods while the other two were just decoys. The go time was once the first truck reached the end of the bridge. Tony would sit on a hill with a sniper since he was a war vet from World War I. He would whistle to inform everyone to get ready, and start things off by sniping the driver of the first truck, once that was done Darkwing and you would run up the driver's side of the bridge both wielding Tommy Guns. While the two of you unloaded your clips into the windshield of the second truck, Malphas and Sliver would pull up behind the third truck in four door 1932 Ford to cut off any retreat...

Everyone knew their role and were in position, now it was a waiting game for the trucks to show up. After waiting for just over an hour the trucks were in sight. Tony gave the whistle, and once the first truck approached the end of the bridge a loud bang could be heard and the chirping of the birds too as they began evacuating the trees they had been sitting on. The truck swerved and ricocheted off the barrier on the passenger side. Another bang could be heard as the passenger of the first truck met the same fate as the driver. You and Darkwing began sprinting up the side, and once reaching the top start unloading bullets into the second truck killing both members nearly instantly. The second truck rammed into the rear end of the first. Screaming of the third trucks break pads were almost as loud as the gunfire. The engine of the getaway car could now be heard as the last two crew members, Sliver and Malphas arrived on the scene.  You and Darkwing begin to approach the third truck, Darkwing shoots the passenger right in the head before he could draw whatever gun he had on him. The blood was pouring out of his head like a faucet. The driver sat behind the wheel frozen in shock until he was ripped out of the seat by Malphas..

"Where's the warehouse!" he yells into the driver's face before cold clocking him with the butt of his revolver...

"Wha-what warehouse" the driver stammers back to Malphas before being cold clocked again..

"Don't play me for a fool punk" Malphas says aggressively as he places the barrel of the gun to the driver's forehead..

Still stammering the driver begins to spill the beans,  "We-west on 52nd side road, the-there's a rusty gate at the front."

"Thanks bud.." Malphas says with a grim grin before pulling the trigger and killing the gentlemen execution style.

Just like that the entire crew in the convoy were dead, blood and casings littering the ground and vehicles. Tony had already made it back to the group from the hill. There was silence for a moment till Tony broke it..

"Well done gents, that went smooth and to a 'T'. You did good today kid. Hop a ride back with Sliver and Darkwing. Malphas and me will take care of the truck and booze. We'll be in touch.."

And with that the three of you began loading into the car, it was a long ride back to the Dandelion HQ but after all that had just gone down you knew your mind would be elsewhere.

Report Post Tip

Darkwing had just arrived back at the Dandelion HQ with Sliver and knew exactly where he was headed. Yeah had a great bar set up right in the HQ.. you could usually find Darkwing there in his free time too be honest.

"Hey Sliver you up for a drink or two?.. long day"

They headed up to the bar.. This time when they got to the bar he saw Yeah herself sitting there, she seemed to be waiting for something, Darkwing went to get a drink and heard her shout over to him..

"Hey duck boy! How did the job go?" She asked. Darkwing walked over.

"It went pretty good actually" Darkwing and Sliver sat down with Yeah to fill her in on the how everything went...
