High Heist Started by: LilyWhite on May 16, '17 17:00

Lily stares at the baggie of cocaine in Anthony's fingers. The idea of robbing a casino while high was both terrifying and intriguing.

She'd obviously done neither, though, and wasn't sure how to proceed. The powder was easy enough to figure out; she'd seen people back in Los Angeles sniffing it before. But the casino?

"Okay, but...don't we need a gun or something?" She asked, pushing the food aside. Reconsidering, she pushed it towards Anthony. If memory served, she'd not seen him eat at all since this venture began.

He sat in his shirt and pants from the previous day, excitedly watching Lily as they began to plan the impression they would make on Vegas. Though his clothes probably smelt a bit like the inside of a box car by now, a new suit was likely to be on the cards. Anthony leant back and sat on the floor, twitching the bag they had somehow acquired.

"I was thinking more sneaking around. The folk in those places must have lots of cash."

He took a bite from the chicken, still frosted with cocaine and gouged a chunk from it.

Lily's eyes went a little dreamy as she envisioned the two of them waltzing into a casino, dressed up like a wealthy young couple while lifting wallets and jewelry as they moved through the crowds.

"Yeah I bet they do! We can't go in like this, though. I've got a little money in my purse, but not nearly enough to buy nice things for us to wear. Maybe...maybe we can find a second-hand shop? Or, well I mean, is it even possible to steal a suit? Oh! If we found a really busy shop, I suppose we could try something on in the dressing area and then just walk out in it?" She says excitedly, then breaks into a peal of laughter. "We could really stick it to someone by waiting for a couple or a family to go in and kind of stay close like we belong with them? Then after we find what we want we could tell the cashier to put it on our parents' tab and slip out?"

A wide smile broke over Anthony's face as the ideas flooded from Lily. All his life trouble had seemingly followed him, though it seemed he was looking for it. Or maybe it was just the energy he got from Lily. Chewing on his chicken, he held up the bag again and wiggled it, causing the powder to dance around inside.

"So, any idea how we take this? Do we just eat it?"

Dawn had officially broken and the light was bearing against the drapes. They had some time to prepare.

Lily made a face. "Well I suppose you could, but blech," she answered. "I think you put it in your nose. I saw this one fella sniff powdery stuff off a little spoon once in the service alley behind the shoppes. I don't have a little spoon, though," she says, looking around for something that will make do as she rubbed her greasy fingertips together. Looking down at her hands, she realizes she's in dire need of a bath.

"I feel gross. I'll go clean up and think," she says, standing and making her way to the tiny bathroom. The sound of running water can be heard a few seconds later, and it isn't until Lily is undressed and in the tub that she realizes she's left the door wide open. Mortified, she reaches out with wet fingertips and pushes it closed.

"A spoon...?"

Anthony is left to play with the thought as Lily leaves for the bathroom, he watches her leave before turning the room upside-down looking for a utensil. As the bathroom door sways closed, he grins and pulls it closed. It clicks shut and he continues with the search.

Eventually finding a butter knife, he holds it steady and taps the baggie until a small portion tumbles out onto the blade. He inspects it for a moment, a small pile crudely presented, then snorts it with great effort.

He falls back onto the bed and fidgets with his nose.

Ten minutes passes and Lily emerges from the bathroom, yesterday's clothes thrown back on and hair wrapped up in a towel. Seeing Anthony laid out on the bed with the cocaine next to him, she huffs out a hurt little sound and pulls the towel from her hair, briefly considering snapping him with it.

"Did you try it without me?!" she asks, crawling on the bed next to him. Spotting the butter knife, and then his pupils, her agitation turns to rabid curiosity.

"What's it like?? Do you feel funny? Did it make you sick? Tell me tell me tell me!" She says, looking down on him expectantly.

His spinning room is suddenly interrupted and Lily appears over him. He struggles to focus on her at first, then lifts his head high enough to plant a lingering, affectionate kiss on her pouty lips. He pulls back and lifts up the rest of the baggie and wiggles it around.

"You should try... if you want to though..."

He sits himself up and bounces over to the window, sticking his head out to look over the gravel car park.

"Do you think we could climb back out or sneak out? Where do you want to go first?"

Report Post Tip

Lily is still staring at the place where Anthony had been, trying to process what had just happened. Eyes shifting to the baggie, she picks it up and dips the tip of the knife in. With a mighty snort, she inhales.

The back of her throat went numb, and her ears popped. Working her jaw, she managed to clear them. Everything was suddenly brighter, clearer.

"Holy smokes," she said, blinking fast. Turning to Anthony, she starts speaking in a rapid fire of words.

"Yeah let's go find clothes mine stink but hey maybe if we tidy up the room no one will know we were here and we can sneak back in later if we need to or we can just jump another train that's okay too what do you think?" She says, scrambling off the bed and attempting to put things back in order. When she spots the uneaten food, she grabs it and throws it out the window.

"Can't leave it smelling like grease in here who needs food anyway I'm not hungry at all are you?" She says, staring into the gravel lot.

Report Post Tip

Nodding along, Anthony remains fixed at the window, watching the motionless parking lot below. He darts from his post and tosses all their items back into the bag, then drops it from the window.

"Need a ladder or a rope or a ladder."

Ripping the bed apart, he ties the sheets together and throws that bundle from the window, too. It unraveled down the side of the building, though they were only on the first floor.

"What where what where??"

Report Post Tip

Lily crawls head-first out the window and lands with an 'oof' on the pile of sheets below. Frantically motioning for Anthony to follow her, she scoops up their belongings and bolts down the road in the general direction of town. About half a mile in, she stops in the middle of the road, panting.

"Anthony? How come we didn't just call a cab?" She asks, wondering how they would make it all the way to the Strip. When she looks over at him, she sees that his nose is bleeding and immediately drops her armload of belongings and moves in front of him. Using the sleeve of her sweater, she gently wipes at his upper lip.

"Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself on the window?"

Report Post Tip

Wriggling his nose, he attempts to inspect the damage, however can not. He wipes it with the back of his hand and then queries the resulting streak of blood, though is seemingly not bothered.

"Is it supposed to do that?"

Noticing a nearby vendor, he is distracted and points towards it.

"Something to heist on!"

Report Post Tip

Lily is looking where he is pointing.

A dry cleaner? The crease in her brow smooths out as she thinks it through. This might be just what they need! Turning to Anthony, she pulls his arm away from his bloody nose.

"Leave it, I think it'll help! Have a convulsion or a seizure out here on the walkway! When the person inside runs out, I'll slip in and find us some good clothes! And I'll go out the back when they come in to use the telephone to call a doctor, and when they do that, just get up and meet ne in the back. They'll never know anyone took stuff!" She says, squeezing his hand and bouncing on her toes a bit in her excitement. "Want to?"

Report Post Tip

Anthony nods his head excitedly, and wanders off towards the dry cleaner. He approaches the property and thunders the base fists on the windows.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!"

The proprietor is outraged and launches themselves out of the building, scorning and cursing the boy. Anthony ducks and weaves to escape the man, causing him to give chase down the block.

Report Post Tip

Lily watches the chase and with a laugh, enters the dry cleaning facility. Riffling through garment after garment, she peers through plastic in search of clothes that might fit. A dress was easy enough, but finding a suit that would fit Anthony's tall, lean frame and wide shoulders was proving more difficult. She eventually settled on two different suits, hoping the trousers of one might fit with the coat of another. As she's turning to leave, she spots the register.

Slinging the garments over one arm, she punches some keys and the cash drawer pops open. There wasn't a lot to take, but she took it anyway, grinning like a fool as she heads out the rear door in search of her accomplice.

Report Post Tip

With the owner in tow, Anthony dashes towards Lily as she exits the dry cleaners, laughing and panting. He grabs her hand and calls out for her to run. Taking some of the clothes under his other arm, the two tear off down the street.

Diverting down alley ways and hopping over dumpsters, after some distance they lose the irate shop keep and collapse into a giggling pile of clothes.

"Not quite a casino..." Anthony laughs.

Looking around, he picks himself up and helps Lily to her feet. He brushes off and scratches his head.

"I guess next time at least we'll be well dressed."

Report Post Tip

"You gotta start somewhere, right?" Lily says, leaning against the brick wall of a building they'd ended up at as she tries to catch her breath. Feeling quite proud of what they'd managed to accomplish this far, she smiles happily at Anthony. "If it's a casino you want, maybe we can find one over in Chicago! C'mon, let's get to the train yard!" She says as she grabs his hand and pulls him down the street.
