This was it... her first job as an assassin, she would be telling lies if she didn’t admit to being a tad nervous. Most of the research had already been completed before the task fell onto her lap. The target package included everything that she could have asked for, and more. From the data that she was given she would have her choice of a number of methods of elimination. Her target was Mr. G and anyone else willing to protect him. He is a prominent businessman and owned a number of shady businesses in the Detroit area. Lately it had been discovered that he was engaged in private discussions to make a move on other families local to him. Other departments within her organization were informed, and Mr. G. was warned against following through with the idea. Instead of heeding the warnings he decided to push ahead with the attack. He planned to leave on a 'business trip' in three weeks - just after the new year begun - and had been having secret meetings with certain other members of the city. That was where she came in. Her superiors had given her just over two weeks to complete her task. If she couldn't do it, or failed then an experienced assassin will be given the job. This assignment was a test; if she did not complete it then she would have failed as an assassin completely. She did not foresee any problems. She had his medical history, his schedule, even a personality profile. The only constraint on her actions was that only he and his inner circle knew the truth. So this meant that she was going to have have to make my move without arousing any suspicion. It must appear to be an innocent accident or random violence between others.
It was now early in the morning of new year's day, she had went to work last night at a party, and it couldn’t have gone better. Through his history she had found out that Mr. G. had a severe allergy to a common cosmetic ingredient, due to the number of episodes where he had encountered the allergen she knew the smallest amount could kill him. Because of the high level of anonymity at the party she decided to use this weakness to accomplish her task. She arrived at the party after Mr. G. having seen him leave his hotel suite and followed behind closely. The first thing that she did upon arrival was to sneak into the cloak room and remove the medicine from his belongings and then she waited. As midnight approached she went to the ladies room to complete preparations. She reapplied a lipstick specially formulated with higher levels of the key ingredient, and a slight flavor. She then also softened her hands with lotion also carrying the ingredient and then she went on the hunt for her target. Right before midnight she found him. Just before the countdown started she asked if she could have the first kiss of the New Year. The hand holding his champagne glass slipped around her midsection, signaling his willingness to honor her request. The clock sounded midnight. They each took a sip of champagne and then his lips met hers. As he pulled back she let her hand rest upon his cheek and she observed him lick his lips to taste the flavor of the lipstick, just as she had intended. Then he was whisked away by another wanting a New Year’s kiss. She similarly was whisked in the other direction. But within minutes the revelry ended with the frantic cries of shocked party go’ers. She watched in mock horror as they searched in vain for his emergency treatment and she watched in silence as the ambulance pulled away, without its lights on. Only one detail was left to finish the job, and that was accomplished on her way back. She stopped at the hotel suite formerly occupied by Mr. G. and left his emergency treatment on the dressing table, right where right where she had removed it from earlier.. That was it. She had made her move. It was done.
Blinking herself awake from the daze of the memory, she rolled over in her bed and seen the neatly folded newspaper left sitting on a table in the hotel room she was staying in, reaching over she picked it up, carefully unfolded it and stared at the front page smiling.
