Tipping, is it important? Started by: The_Kid on Jun 01, '17 01:10
Kid picked up the last issue of his favorite comic, The Adventures of Ninja and Shadows. It was a limited issue comic that he had succefully stolen from the local library, and they had been written by the famous Axel, who was now dead for some time. And so he read the quirky book, giggling at times, frowning at others, but avidly reading the book for the 10th time this week. Once he finished it, he kicked back on his sloppy bed, covered with dirty clothing from the past week. He needed to ask the lovely Divina_Princeps how to wash his clothes, as he was a fully grown man now, at 5 years old.

His mind started to wander over the author, that Axel guy. How did he have the imagination to create that series? He must've been a genius! And did he get paid for them? He should've, they where such a masterpiece. That last thought made him think even more. Since yesterday, the streets had gone much quieter, he could almost hear the sound of his own footsteps when he was walking down to the book store.

"What do you think of tipping? Is it encouraging? Is it a sign of respect? Some people use it to show their interest in a particular idea or story, and others use it to encourage a certain writer to keep on going and to blossom into a big voice. Do the amounts mean a lot as well? Or is 20k the common amount you send out?"

Kid looked at his small paragraph in the journal and smirked. He was happy with it, not to shabby for a 5 year old! He sat down and awaited answers, hoping his question would interest many people.

Hades loved walking into the book store. He loved picking up and reading books to see what people had thought of him. They made up stories of how he whispers in to the ears of humans to trick them into doing evil. When really they were only making excuses for their own misdemeanors. He was about to walk out when he heard a young voice speaking out from the comic section. The question they had asked had struck him and made him wonder for a slight moment. He went over to the kid and told him to pick out as many comics as he liked and he would wait for him at the till. When the_kid had finally got back he was carrying as many as his little arms could bear and Hades began to answer as he counted the cash he has in his back pocket.

"You pose an interesting question young man. And I think it comes to personal preference. When my fore-father's first landed on these shores I wondered how the tipped system worked. I finally did a post and it seemed that I was only getting tipped from my family member's. Mainly my CL and his RH. As a mere way of convincing me to carry on with my work that I was doing for my family. I think the tipping principle is a fantastic one. One that I think can be used a lot more as a means of encouraging others to join in and come to the streets. And also to reward those that take time out of their busy day to speak about a new idea, or tell us a story of their criminal activities. But I can only speak to myself as I don't know how much other's get tipped if they do get tipped. But I definitely think that it should be done more often"

Hades noticed that he overpaid by a couple hundred dollars by the reaction on the cashier's face. She was trying to give back the money but what the heck. I'd rather her spend the money on booze and making her life miserable so I can enjoy seeing her when she arrives at hell.. Hades eyes began to glow red again with passion. Unable to go back to punishing those whose souls had landed in his fortune. He snapped back to reality when he noticed the_kid looking at him oddly.

"Sorry about that, I have hay-fever. My eyes are itchy. Now, as for the amounts. It depends entirely on what one can afford and what one thought of the post. Me personally, I tip my crew members for every post they do. And my father's and fore-father's have been doing so time and time again for my members. And I also tip those posts that I enjoy, the more I enjoy it the more I tip. I hope that answers your question my friend. And I hope you enjoy those comics. I need to head out, I have some important business to deal with.. catch yah around kid"

Hades waited for the right moment and when the_kid turned away for a split second and turned back to where Hades was standing. All he could see was black feather's slowly making their way to the ground. The man who was there had simply vanished.. in to thin air...

Divina was strolling through the house checking on everyone as she noticed a huge pile of clothes on The_kid bed. She shakes her head and walks in looking for him. Noticing a book laying out she picks it up and scans it over before deciding to go find him. She has always held a certain spot in her heart for children and this one was special and she knew it. Putting on her coat and heels she headed out.

As she is walking in town she spots Hades. They exchange a small hug and chat about the wonderful opportunity they have been given and how they are settling in.  After a few minutes of exchanging pleasantries she remembers what she originally left for. "oh! Have you seen the_kid around? I get worried when he wanders off for too long"

She smiles as he fills her in on the question that was presented by the sweet boy. "that is certainly an interesting question isn't it?" She thinks about it a moment before saying goodbye and telling hades to come by later, "we miss you since becoming so busy."

She hurries towards the book store where she spots The_kid carrying a pile of comics. She laughed to herself before taking most of them so his arms could get a break. "Much better? Glad I could find you. I've heard you are asking about tipping....My personal opinion is that it is there to encourage an author to write more. It is to show that they have done well and are deserving of something for the time and effort they have put into their work. As to how much, that just depends on the tipper. I tip whenever I read something great and don't stay at the minimum amount. If it makes me laugh then I tip more. There's a few people that make me laugh with almost every post and they get tipped often by me." She holds out her hand before taking his to walk home "Now lets discuss that laundry..."

Darkwing was heading into town in LA looking for a cup of coffee to wake him up when he overheard The_kid asking a few people about tipping. This made Darkwing stop and think...

"Sorry for eavesdropping but your questions caught my attention... I don't think anyone expects to get a tip for writing a story or making a speech, but I do think it is nice when someone does tip you. The amount of money doesn't really matter in my opinion either. It's more just a way to show that you appreciate what they said or agree with them which is always nice."

I like to tip when I hear a speech or comment I really like

He slipped a envelope filled with 20k to some poor slum

No real reason or anything and I am sure I could accomplish the same with a simple mobmail but I figure its the thoughts that count. I don't hear a ton of stuff that makes me want to throw out my money like that though. I think it was a speech Disorder spoke at I tipped last.

"Is that so?" Catherine said come out of a random alley off to the side. She circled StripheGotti and looked him up and down, "Well if you're looking for something that is going to make you want to give me your money," She paused and grinned at him, "Well might I suggest you pick up the Cooter times?" she winked at him before turning her attention to the child in front of her. Putting her hands on her hips she tsk'd, "And you, little man, should be in school." she shook her head, blonde curls bouncing. "But, that being said, I love when people give me money for being hilarious and smart. I love that people give me money for being me." She laughed, "I just love when people give me money."

Keiko listens respectfully as the little boy speaks.  She looks at him with a spark in her eye, because he is a handsome young lad.  He warms her heart, and his sincerity is touching.  She imagines bouncing him on her knee, or pinching his cute little cheeks.

She bows lowly to the young man as he finishes.

"You are very intelligent for such a young man.  It is nice to see someone so young as yourself commanding the respect of others.  I will give you my opinion, since you have articulated this so nicely.

For me, I like to tip people who make me smile, who seem like they want to make a difference in this thing of ours, and who are able to tell a tale with wit and intelligence.  The loudest speaker is not always the best speaker, although they may sometimes be worth listening to also.  I think it is important to encourage those I wish to hear more from, and whose voice is pleasant.  I do tip people I would like to encourage.

I wish you well, and I hope you find the answers you seek.

She bows once again, and smiles softly at The_Kid
