A feint chugging of a 2-stroke engine is heard echoing down the darkened alley until around the corner LawnMower appears riding his errr.... lawnmower. Parking up outside the club that his boss Don Orange had opened the night MonsterHair first sent him out on his own with nothing but a shiny rind and pithy juice filled interior he switched the engine off, threw the keys to a waiting thug and confidently pushed his way through the saloon doors. Lawnmower knew the interior like he knew how much of a mess Orange made in the HQ leaving his pips all over the place for people to trip over, so he recognized straight away a number of senior faces he saw playing dice in the corner. Despite the lively hum of the place he could hear Malachai and DanGleeballs talking loudly about business and then spied MonsterHair, bobbi and the mayor quietly talking shop in another corner. Looking across to the bar he spied Princesa and Water with a number of empty shot glasses in front of them, possibly gathering courage for an announcement of their own he mused. Princesa had been seen walking around the headquarters talking about Fleur D'Oranger or something... who knew what was going on inside that crazy head of hers though. Lawnmower made a beeline for MonsterHair politely nodding to a number of the faces he saw on the way. After kissing Monster's hand respectfully then contemplating about how to avoid getting hair in his mouth on the next occasion he slid a suitcase across to him and a hefty envelope to the major. The major nodded, shook hands and slinked away out of the side door. Knowing this marked the final minor hurdle... greasing palms always goes a long way in this life, LawnMower nodded to the barman who promptly and very enthusiastically rang the bell. Ladies and gentleman, I hope you're all enjoying your drinks, they're just about to get a little more juicy. Not long ago, he continued, my leader set out on his own path to shape this fine district. In that time as is our life, wars have been waged, mayors have been paid off and informants have been squeezed, after all you can't make lemonade without cracking a few eggs. "He wasn't sure that's how the saying was meant to go, but it reminded him of the time he'd first heard Malachai say it in earnest!" Anyway, he continued, thanks to the opportunity Godfather MonsterHair gave Don Orange those weeks ago he has worked tirelessly for the district and the city and has finally...,I mean seriously finally how fricking long did this take...earned the right to take up the next chapter of his already notable life. LawnMower picks up his glass of Limoncello and nods to everyone to do the same, before clearing his throat. Tonight ladies and gentleman I'm honoured to announce the new Godfather of South Side, Godfather Orange! Glowing with pride LawnMower turns to his long time friend, to quote our cross district friend ... May your reign be long and fruitful. On hearing the groans from yet another fruit related pun LawnMower steps away as Orange's close friends stepped forward to congratulate him. |

I'm sure this occasion means a great deal to those of ya' within the city of Chicago, or even just the former crew of Godfather Orange. For me ta' offer a congratulatory blurb however would be a little meaningless. I don't know tha' person in question, I've never seen 'deir face out here on the streets, been introduced or even know who you are yourself. The only reason I decided to appear at all was jus' to ask; does that not concern you? It is certainly an achievement worthy of a boast, but to who? Who understands Mista Orange, what he's been through ta' get to this point and what he thinks? Why has he taken this mantle but not engaged with the world? What does he intend to do with this power? Are you not worried that others are askin' tha' same questions? What I'm tryin' to say in tha' most constructive way is, who cares? |

Romance can feel his libido diminishing with each shrill word resident Vegas cow TabithaGato speaks. Embarrassed for her, he grabs her by her arm-flab and yanks her away, speaking sternly...... yet seductively... to her. Stop dampening the celebration and go back to Vegas.... I will be back there shortly, and when I get there.... you will receive my belt for this outburst. First for punishment....... then.... for pleasure............ Romance dismisses TabithaGato and raises his glass to the newly appointed Godfather Orange. Godfather...... you were in the trenches with my father back when Las Vegas was a mere blip on the map, back when Godfathers Disorder and MonsterHair were lowly goombas, scraping funds together and cracking jokes in FitzChivalry's HQ. I was pleased when I returned to this country to fill my father's shoes to see that you had risen to a position of authority. Godfather is an honor I know you won't take lightly. This is a proud day and I hope to see you do great things with your district here in the Windy City. Salut my friend. |

Dan had been called to the celebration, though he really didn't want to go, rumour was that giraffe LarryLongNeck was due to be there and Dan was fed up of the necky fucker cracking jokes about his weight. Not only that but every time Dan went to have a piss, Larry would always tower over Dan like some kind of lamp post to check out his tallywacker. Pervert. Pulling himself together and mentally preparing himself for the shameless perversion and mean jokes about his weight, Dan got himself ready and made his way to the bar. Lawnmower had mad a brief speech about his boss and the bar had toasted in Orange's good name. After that some broad had made an outburst asking who Orange was before that utter hunk of a man, Romance put her in her place and told her he would be seeing to her later on. Managing to corner the newly appointed Godfather for a few moments, Dan offered him a congratulations. He knew that Orange wasn't a man of many words but that his actions had spoken louder than words ever could. Ever since the Vegas mob came to power, it was with the help and support of Orange that laid the foundations for what was now a huge empire. Dan was certain that were he still alive, his grandfather would have been proud of the big Orange fucker. |

Usually I wouldn't comment on an outburst such as this, after all I wouldn't want to break tradition but when my right hand has put effort into making a speech and it's given a response like yours, then I feel it necessary to respond. So let's have at it. It's a traditional event for announcements to be made upon a new Godfather taking over another's patch. You question whether or not I've been out here before, and it is true, my presence in the streets is one that is seldom seen but I'm not here to be understood, I'm not here to make chums and I'm not here to please the street police by regularly contributing to the world in this way. No, I'm here to do a job and to this point I've got that job done. Everyone has their own strengths, their own values that they bring to the table and since the days when I first started out with FitzChivalry, I've ensured that people within my circles know those values. Whether the wider world understand or not doesn't particularly concern me. What kind of Godfather would I be if I was worried by such trivial matters as to whether people like me or not? This isn't a popularity contest, it's a dog eat dog world. So while this may not be as big a talking point as the scandal surrounding the Gato family name, it is a typical tradition we see here in the streets and I am grateful for my right hand man for taking the time out to make this speech. Whether people care or not, again it really doesn't concern me as it is outweighed by the effort that Lawnmower has made to come out here and raise a glass in my name. |

"Godfather Orange, me' thanks for you taking the time to respond. "You are quite correct in that you have a job ta' do, and going by tha' fact that South Side still stands is a testament to your abilities in that role. My critique comes from the desire ta' understand what audience this appearance is aimed toward. "If it is a personal matter for your close circles, district or city, 'den I can understand and will step back and stop any further interruption. There are near 160 souls operatin' in Chicago, I'd much like to stay in good standing wit' then. "If made in line with 'tradition' for the masses to witness though, hopefully my appearance indicates 'dat there is little for us to comment on. I will say that If history has taught me anythin', it's that the quiet ones are the ones to watch. "But what do i know, I'm just some broad." |

I think the point you're missing Tabitha is that Chicago doesn't stand alone and Orange's roots go back to Vegas. If it were only targeted at those of us from the Windy City then this speech could well have been made in the Chicago business district, as it is though it is definitely more suitable here so that those from Vegas and even some of the guys from Philly who had worked here previously could also give their own congratulations should they wish to. To suggest that if you're not known in the streets then nobody at all will know you is ridiculous. So while you personally may not know him you can either give the guy a pat on the back for the achievement or choose to ignore it, but instead you come out here and challenge the point of the speech because you've never interacted with him. While he's not a vocal member of our community, he is a Godfather in Chicago with Vegas history, who has worked with a wide variety of people throughout his time in this world. There's little to comment on if you do not know the man, since he rarely comes out to the streets to speak, those that have never interacted with him will not know him or anything about him, those of us who have though can comment and can come out and raise our glasses alongside him. I assume that is the purpose of this gathering. It's not too difficult to grasp. |

I would question what has been achieved. It is clearly my expectations and ideals of what a Godfather is made of 'dat are driving the motivation to discuss this. It is convenient and easy ta' pretend that an achievement has been made and to conform to tha' traditions of a pat on tha' back. It is the community as a whole that responds ta' success however, and if they truly perceived this as one, we would see people flocking ta' offer their congratulations from Chicago, Vegas and across the country of they were really impressed by this event. Tha' truth is, and this is not specific ta' the new Godfather, we are enjoying celebratin' mediocrity by reaching the bare minimum of what is required to justify a street mention. Not long ago I presented my approach to recruitment, offerin' insight into how we can build the community by reachin' out to people who would otherwise be targets. The comments I received are suggestive that I was just celebrating my own morals and pattin' myself on the back. Was there a difference between these two events? I'm goin' ta' leave you to your celebrations and offer apologises for darkening this occasion. I could have structured an appearance in the streets myself on this topic in hindsight. Thank ya' Mista Gleeballs for your constructive comments. |

Romance stares intently at TabithaGato's lumpy behind..... licking his lips with excitement as he thinks about the vicious flogging he would be delivering to it later with his belt... a stimulating mixture of discipline and eroticism..... "That was me that suggested that, so you can feel free to take my remark with a grain of salt. It was moreso a one-off remark about your no-good-deed-goes-unannounced approach to the topic that I was mocking you for. Truth be told, I find your recruitment efforts and your theory behind them to be admirable, and are most likely constructive to our city. Be that as it may, it's a absurd analogy to be used here in this situation, as I don't really see the comparison. Apples and oranges, really. But speaking of oranges, I think we've taken enough attention away from Godfather Orange and this lovely shin-dig Mr. Lawnmower has planned for him, so I too will be making my exit and leaving you all to enjoy your party." Romance tucks a stuffed envelope into the jacket pocket of the new Godfather and nods respectfully to Lawnmower.... then turns back to TabithaGato.... he removes his belt....... |

Romance, you said "It was moreso a one-off remark about your no-good-deed-goes-unannounced approach to the topic that I was mocking you for" Well now, can you think of any deeds? |
