The Story of Zombie Demon Nanners the Mayor Started by: Diego on Jun 22, '17 05:58

It was a long, dark night, very long as usual, but not too long as that would be silly since every night is exactly as long as any other night except for two nights a year occurring on daylight savings time...

Diego was waiting on the side of the road in his usual fashion, hands in his pockets, high on a combination of cocaine and mescaline.

"Where the hell is Shinni at?!?" He exclaimed to himself as he searched his jacket desperately for his pack of smokes.  "He was supposed to be here at 6 for driving lessons before that bank job next weekend over in New Delaware."

"If he keeps me waiting for much longer he'll have to get the hose again." He gritted his teeth as he said those words.  "Discipline is the first key to success after all and I cannot start making exceptions now with election season just around the corner."

Shinni sighed when Diego came into view. He could already tell Diego was pissed, and knew for sure when he over heard the other. "If you were concerned about time, you could've came and picked me up instead of making me walk all the way over here." He responded, crossing his arms. "I had to leave two hours ago to get here on foot."

Deigo blinked unflinchingly as he stared at Shinni who was obviously upset at the fact that he was upset.  They were both upset that much was obvious.  What hadn't crossed Diego's mind until just this moment was how Shinni was going to get to driving lessons when he, himself could not drive.

"Whoopise, my bad bro."  Diego said nonchalantly as he opened the car door, climbing into the passenger seat.  "Well, like my father always said, "There's no use in crying over unclicked petties.", although he was suffering from rather severe dementia at that time when he started using that saying and I have no clue what was referring to.  But it sounds good."

"Once you get in we can get this show on the road."

Report Post Tip

Shinni got into the driver's side. "Just so you know. I'm not looking forward to this." He said, looking down at the peddles. How was he going to reach them anyway?

Report Post Tip

Diego reached down and tied a stilt to Shinni's right foot.  "There you are mate, it's important to always use one foot when driving, that way you can't possibly hit the gas and brake at the same time.  Some people say if you do that you could rip a hole in the space time continuum... best not to test it out."  He leaned back in his seat as he took a long drag from his smoke before continuing.

"Now I know you've probably heard plenty of advice from all sorts of people about starting out on your first time on the road but I can attest from experience my friend, caution is for old ladies and squares. it's best to just hit the gas as hard as you can and drive with confidence and determination as it completely translates into ability."  Diego nodded with a smile on his face as he pointed to the road and waited for Shinni to make his journey into the great unknown. "

Report Post Tip
"So basically, you're saying it's sink or swim." He said then looked at the road. "Don't blame me if we end up six feet under." He said before taking a moment to try and feel confident and determined before he pressed down on the gas.

The landscape whipped past Diego in a blur as the vehicle cruised down Broadway at a blistering speed.  Old women pointed from the sides of road and sirens could be heard following far behind in mediocre pursuit, apparently no match for Shinni's speed.  "Steady as she goes, that's the way.  You seem to have a knack for this!"  Diego exclaimed as he looked out the window with his hand over his mouth, trying to fight back the beginning stages of motion sickness.

Suddenly and without warning there was a loud thud causing the car to veer out of control into a ditch on the side of the road. Hours pass....

*Some time later

Diego awakes next to Shinni, still alive and breathing.  He looks up at the ceiling which is actually down as the car had toppled over in the accident. "My god my head."  Diego wipes some sweat off his brow with a handkerchief from his front pocket as he undoes his seat belt and plops onto the roof of the vehicle.  He makes his way to the exterior and watches as Shinni begins to do the same as he recovers from the whole ordeal in similar fashion.

Report Post Tip

It was a bit harder for him to get out but he managed. He stretched and sighed. "I'm going to feel it tomorrow." He said then noticed the body. "And things just got words. Next time, I'm going to be cautious because this is going to be one heck of a mess to fix."

Report Post Tip

Diego makes his way over to the source of the collision earlier, there in the middle of the street lay Mayor Nanners, laid out dead on the pavement, ironically having slipped on a banana peel prior to the accident.  Thoughts wizzed through the mobster's mind as he considered his options.  Unsure of how to proceed, he turned to Shinni.

"Looks like driving lessons will have to be postponed for a bit since we're in a bit of a pickle now having run over the town Mayor...Any thoughts on how we should handle this?"

Report Post Tip
Shinni looked down at the body. "I can't think with this headache not to mention we need to take care of ourselves first. I have the necessary supplies at my shop. We can bring him with us in the meantime."
Report Post Tip

Diego nods as he picks up the corpse of Mayor Nanners, carrying him under his arm like a duffel bad as he follows Shinni to the proposed location, humming "pop goes the weasel" to himself as he trots along.  As they arrive, he glances up at the sign on the building "Apothecary Phials: The Secret Pot".

"I see your store has been doing quite well Shinni.".  Diego makes note of the queue of customers waiting patiently for operating hours to commence in the front of the building.   "Best if we go around back so as not to draw too much attention.".

The two men enter the front office after a brief journey though some back store rooms and are greeted to the aroma of many freshly cut herbs, some familiar scents of Lavender and Chamomile strike Diego's senses and mix with others that he can't quite identify.  Altogether being quite pleasing to the senses.

Without further ado, Diego plops Mayor Nanners on the front counter as he watches Shinni prepare quick remedies for their bruises and scratches.  In the mean time he browses the shop a bit further making note of a few details he hand't noticed on his first visit.  After some time, he picks up a book from a dusty shelf among various recipes and reads the title aloud.

" The Necronomicon for Dummies, How to Bring the Dead Back to Life with Absolutely No Side Affects We Promise." On the back is a picture of a hand with it's fingers crossed.

"This looks promising for our current predicament.  Wouldn't you say bro?"

Report Post Tip
Shinni paused for a moment to look to Diego to see what he was talking about. He froze when he saw what the other had in his hand and dropped what he had to take the book away from him. "Nothing dead or alive is worth using anything in this book for."
Report Post Tip

Diego looked at the book, then looked at Shinni, then looked at the book again, staring deep into the odd leather binding and the face on the cover before again looking at Shinni, then looking again once more at the book in his hand searching for confirmation and seeing what appears to be the face on the cover winking at him before again looking at Shinni.

"What could possibly go wrong?"  He asked plainly.

Report Post Tip
"What could go wrong? Everything could go wrong. We could lose a limb, lose our physical selves while being mentally intact, or worse. There's a lot of things that can make you wish you were dead that could happen." Shinni said
Report Post Tip

"Sounds exciting." Without further ado Diego opens the book and reads aloud the incantation from the first page. "Tantir-ah-mis-trobeen-ha-zar-ta. Tantir-man-ov-mis-hazen-sober. Kanda! Nos-feratos-allo-memnon-kanda! Nos-feratos Amemnon. Akadeem Razin Arozonia! Aton Neran Ofas!"

The ground rumbles and the lights go dim as the body of mayor Nanners becomes animate and stands on it's own two feet.  It shuffles back and forth along the ground before Shinni and Deigo with it's mouth open wide as it comprehends it's own existence in this odd turn of events.

Deigo looks at Shinni with a wide smile on his face and shrugs. "See! Just as I told you....what could go wrong right?"

Report Post Tip

"A lot could go wrong." Shinni responded, looking at the now reanimated body. "Look at him. He could zombify everyone." He said, walking over to Nanners. "Are you trying to catch flys in your mouth?" He asked it, trying to test its intelligence.

Report Post Tip

Diego looked at zombie Nanners as the reanimated corpse shuffled across the ground towards Shinni.  It raised it's brow in response and answered in perfect English.

"You have awakened me from the fifth plane of hell and have my thanks, this vessel will serve me well as I do my bidding across the 6 cities of this dimension!"

The apparent zombie demon gnawed on it's own arm as Diego tilted his head is confusion at the strange freshly conjured entity before him.

"Anything you have in mind in particular oh lord  Mayor, demon, zombie Nanners?" Asked Diego

With a sudden change in tone and mannerism, the reanimated mayor steps casually behind a desk in the corner of the room, having a seat in the process. Without wasting a moment the demon manifests a briefcase seemingly out of thin air and sets it on the table.  From the briefcase he procures a set of papers and a pair of spectacles afterwards proceeding to discuss his plans as if at any ordinary town hall meeting.

"I'm glad you asked Diego, there are many changes the underworld has in store for the criminal enterprises running things behind the scenes, the changes will come in time as I procure the necessary votes needed for implementation, but before that I shall, in the immediate future, exercise my executive powers for my own amusement towards you pawns pretending to be the rulers of men..."

"Go on.." Diego stated somewhat uncomfortably as he loosened his necktie.

"It is by my decree that from this day forth all Crewleaders, Right hand men and potentially left hand men shall be jailed for an undisclosed period of time for not successfully hand holding all newcomers into this life of crime into established families."

"Well that's an odd thing to do."  Stated Diego "You'd think as a mayor you'd want to keep people away from joining organized crime so that you could have more control over things in this world."

"Aye, that's a very valid point you make there Diego....but I just love to mess with people now for shits and giggles as they say.  Oh that's good, I think I'll use that as my slogan when running for reelection next November after possessing the voting populace with souls from home."

Diego simply blinked at the demon zombie before him and then looked at Shinni to see what he thought of all this.

Report Post Tip

"Would it kill you to at least appear human?" Shinni said, sighing as he heard the corpse. He shook his head then looked at Diego. "Well, I'm glad that you reanimated him. Everything he just said affects you and those in your position and higher. And of course, he would want it. The thing possessing Nanners is from the underworld, A.K.A. Hell. Why wouldn't he want us to succeed? There's not such thing as something good possessing a person."

Report Post Tip

Diego shook his head at the mass of flesh before him pretending to be human and reached for his gun.  Over the next twenty minutes he unloads clip after clip into the mayor with seemingly no affect.  In response the undead demon lord simply laughs defiantly while siting still in his seat as the wounds close by themselves via some unknown power.

"Well this sucks."  Diego drops the gun and throws his hands up in the air.  "Do you as you will Mayor Nanners, it looks like we have no choice."

"Aye that I shall Diego...that I shall...this change was inevitable as I'm sure you'll come to accept in due time.  But you two have my thanks in making it possible."

Without wasting another moment the zombie demon stood up from his chair and sprouted a pair of wings before taking off at the speed of light towards Delaware City.
