Delivering a Message Started by: Lunara on Jul 06, '17 17:38

"It's happened again."

It was early. It was too early. Lunara kept her eyes firmly shut as she struggled to gather her senses. Her bed was sunk in next to her... someone was there. Did she bring a suitor home and forget? Please don't be dead, she thought to herself as she opened an eye and peered at the woman sitting on the bed next to her.

"It's happened again," Princesa repeated, clearly waiting for a reply. Oh Princesa, the one person that could wake Lunara up from her precious sleep and not get a spear thrown at them. Not only was she her fearless leader, but she was her confidante, and her best friend. Lunara sighed and pulled herself up in her bed as she took in the troubled look on Princesa's face.

"What happened, exactly?" Lunara rubbed the sleep from her eyes and pushed her hair out of her face, attempting to focus on her boss. "Is that... is that coffee?" Princesa smiled and handed her the warm mug.

"You're crazy if you think I expect you to pay attention without your beloved, I know you better than that." Princesa cleared her throat before continuing, "There was another hit placed on me this morning. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy... when is this going to stop?"

Lunara squinted her eyes in anger as she sipped her coffee, taking in her boss' words. She knew the guy - one of Princesa's old business associates from what felt like lifetimes ago - who clearly wasn't capable of letting things end. "Damn girl, is your shit magical?!" Lunara snorted to herself as Princesa rolled her eyes. Obviously she thought she was a lot funnier than she really was. "I wouldn't worry about it, love. As a leader, you're always going to have someone that doesn't like you." She touched her hand and squeezed it, making it clear she was there for her. "Besides," she grinned, "you know how much I love a good hunt."

Later that evening, Lunara was camping out in front of their headquarters. She was used to being outdoors, she reveled in it, but she probably looked incredibly silly crouched down in the bushes as she waited. However, with hit lists, there was always the chance that mercenaries would follow. Lunara wasn't willing to take that chance. So she waited, and waited. She about jumped out of her skin as the HQ door crashed open behind her and one of her bodyguards spotted her. Damn it, she thought she lost her small entourage. They were much too noisy for a proper stake out.

"What the hell are you doing in the bushes?" her bodyguard asked as he came to stand next to her.

"Shut.. UP!" Lunara snapped as she pulled him down next to her, worried he may have given away her location. Her eyes darted back and forth across the street. She knew she saw movement out of the corner of her eye when her guard was speaking, but she'd lost it. "Princesa had another hit placed, I'm just trying to keep her safe," she growled.

"Have you ever thought about, I don't know, writing a strongly worded letter?" the guard suggested, fishing a pen and notepad from his pocket. "Here, you can use this while you wait!"

Lunara's head tilted at her guard's suggestion. Where the fuck did she get this guy? A letter?! "You've got to be kidding me..." she whispered angrily. As he started to reply Lunara caught the movement again and placed her hand over his mouth to hush him. "Gotcha!" she thought, as she spotted a mercenary. With the all black attire and ski mask, it was easy to tell he was a gun for hire.

She grabbed one of her spears and stood quickly, vaulting her spear through the air and piercing the man's stomach. At the same moment, another man came around the building and launched himself at Lunara.

Thankfully, her bodyguard might actually be worth a shit, and tackled him to the ground beside her, pinning the enemy down. "Lunara, LUNARA!" he shouted as he dug his knee into the mercenary's chest. "The other one is getting away!"

Lunara smiled sweetly at her guard. "Oh don't worry, he won't make it very far..." she hadn't even finished her sentence when they watched the other man drop. Lunara grinned and ran her finger delicately over the tip of one of her spears. "You know how much I love my poison."

She turned towards her guard again, delighted that he managed to take down the other and quite possibly save her life. "You know.. maybe I'll listen to you, with this letter nonsense." She scooped up the pen and notepad that had fallen to the ground and scribbled out a note. "Would you be a dear and deliver a message to your boss for me?" Lunara bat her eyelashes at the thug as she ran her hand down the side of his face before peeling off the ski mask and looking at him. She'd never seen him before, but he'd do, for a messenger boy.

The man nodded, clearly afraid for his life. She continued to write her note, muttering to herself, "everyone has moved on with their lives but you... and you're just a sad, sad little man who's stuck living in the past." She signed her name with a flourish and dug her lipstick out of her pocket. One of her chemist friends had done her a favor recently, allowing her to transfer slow releasing toxins via a deadly kiss. She applied it, grateful that she had built up an immunity over the years, and kissed the note next to her name.

She grinned as an idea struck her, and she pinned the note to the man's chest, quite literally. Blood began to seep through his shirt as Lunara leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Let your boss know I'd love a chat with him, yeah? Take your time.. we won't hurt you." She nodded at her bodyguard, who hesitantly let him up. They watched as he ran across the yard of the headquarters, Lunara silently cursing to herself and wishing he'd stop exerting so much energy. The toxins were meant to release slowly, but with the increased blood flow...

"Fuck!" Lunara swore as she watched the man collapse once he hit the street. "Now how am I supposed to deliver this message?!"

Looking out of the window from her office, Princesa's eyes widened as she saw her deadliest confidante, Lunara , fighting off the deadly assassins. Princesa drew her gun as she made a dash for the stairs to head for the door. This couldn't be happening. There were hits posted on Princesa before, but never like this. This time, it was personal.

"Please let her be safe. I can't lose her," she thought to herself as she threw open the headquarter doors.

Racing out into the street, Princesa spotted Lunara standing over the lifeless body of the hitman. Throwing her arms around Lunara, she pulled her into a tight embrace.

She could breathe again. She was safe. They were safe.

"Oh darling! I am so glad to see you standing, even though I never had a doubt that you couldn't handle yourself."

Pulling back, she sighed deeply. She knew who was coming for her and she knew he wouldn't stop unless he was put down.

"These hits...they are coming more often...before I thought it was a prank from unknown gangsters in the neighborhood, but this has gotten out of hand."

She looked back at the headquarters, seeing several family members running out with their guns drawn. Standing beside her right hand, Princesa holstered her own pistol.

"Everyone, EVERYONE. It is okay. The situation has been handled by the ever so badass Lunara. She was quick on the scene. I am safe. We are safe."

Taking a deep breath, Princesa knew the time had come to address the family on such matters.

"As you all know, these hits have been coming at a steady pace....I hate to say this...but I know they won't stop anytime soon. With that being said, no matter what hit, no matter how many assassins, I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. To keep our family safe. We know what we are capable of, but do they? No. The time will come to show them, believe me."

Princesa nodded as she turned back to Lunara, exchanging glances. They didn't have to speak with words to understand each other. They knew.
