The Call I Would Never Get Started by: Crazy_Horses on Dec 26, '07 22:44
"Why don't you two just fuck and get it over with." Valentine joked, hoping desperately to make one of us laugh, smile or even just stop screaming. It didn't work. Charlie was the first to speak again ", why do you have to be such a manipulative cunt?!"

Valentine wasn't sure he even heard Zadie's response, He was lost in her eyes. His Mafia boss and his best friend was one beautiful woman and anger made her even finer. The green in her eyes was brought out even more by the redness in her cheeks.

"Charlie, you are such an ass, do you really think I give a fuck what you think, I sneered going into my defensive "I am too good for you" mode. Valentine slumped down in his spot at the booth, thinking this was a horrible night for a drug deal to go down.

"You are nothing to me," I continued. "I can have any man I want."

This part was true, Valentine thought. His boss was a beauty indeed, long dark hair and clear green eyes only added to the beauty of her china doll face.

"Then why are you with me? Any man you want, my ass! What makes you think any one else would want your psychotic ass? Everyone you know knows you are fuckin crazy."

"L-ith doesn't," she stabbed, returning to the reason for the fight. "I have him wrapped around my finger," she raised her right hand and wiggled her pinky to elaborate her point.

"Zadie thats enough!" Valentine grimaced, "As your consigleaire why don't you just stop for now, lets wait for the deal to go down, I get the goods and loose a pain in my ass."

He turned his attention to the two men walking in wishing he hadn't got stuck in the middle of it. Trying his hardest to ignore them, he stared at the two men as they passed on by.

"Wouldn't you agree, Valentine?" Valentine, had no clue what she was talking about.

"Whatever" he shrugged, no longer caring.

"Do it, I challenged.

"I will."

"Fine!"

"Fine, Fuck you!"

"Fuck you, fuck you, fuck this," Valentine griped, climbing out of the booth. "You two are pathetic"

"Pathetic is right." I pointed at Charlie, "I would be better off if you just offed yourself like your always threatening!"

"Zadie," Valentine warned, she was about to cross the limits of his patience.

"Shut the fuck up!" She was screaming at him now. "You need to learn to stay out of my business." "I NEED? You dragged me into this"

Valentine grabbed the brief case and walked towards the restroom. Once in side, Valentine made sure all stalls were empty before he locked the door. Opening the brief case he took out his own stash. There was a nock on the door but he ignored it turning back to the task at hand, cutting his next line.

He could still hear them, "Zadie, you know, you ARE a psycho." Concentrating on the tan powder blocking them out of his head. Thinking about how sorry he was that he ever fixed his brother up with her. He made himself three rails, opening his shirt pocket, he pulled out one of his pre cut straws. He could hear them screaming, but didn't know, or want to know what they were saying to one another. This was just a repeat of every other day of their relationship. Nine months of nothing but fighting. On the side, they both consulted with him about how much they hated one another, but still, they were together. He could never understand their reasons. How she could successfully run the business was beyond him.

After inhaling the first line, he could hear his heart in his ears, it was almost enough to drown them out. His thoughts whirled around in circles from this to that as his body numbed. The voices in his head were silenced, even though he knew they would only stay this way for a few minutes. Valentine walked back out and sat down at the booth. Enjoying his high as he studied the patterns on the glass table reflecting from the candle. He lost himself in thoughts that were nothing more than jibberish.

BAMM!!

The voice in the back of his head warned him not to look up. The high vanished within seconds. He heard that, it wasn't a figment of his imagination "Don't look up." he stared hard at the table, concentrating on remaining calm as he studied the red dots that had appeared on the glass.

"Don't look up, just don't do it, whatever you do, do not look up! "his eyes caught a clump of hair on the glass in front of him, as he picked it up to study it, the warmth in his face and neck extended into the rest of his body, burning him with what seemed to be the beginning of a fire in his chest.

Valentine turned around. Zadie was bent over Charlie with the gun still in her hand.

"You killed him" He was startled by how calm his voice was.

"No"

"You killed my brother, my God, you killed him"

He could feel his heart racing, He could hear it in his ears. charlies's face seemed peaceful, were it not for the spicket of blood above his ear, Valentine would think him asleep. The blood spread across the carpet like on tile, tracing the outline of his extended arm.

Trying to keep his calm, he wiped the back of his neck.

"I didnt do it" I cried "He did."

"You" Valentine pointed, "are a psycho."

"YOU KILLED HIM,"

"YOU PSYCHOTIC BITCH!" HOW COULD YOU KILL HIM, HOW COULD YOU!" The world spinned and turned dark, Valentines head hit the floor with a sound too him was even louder than the gunshot. He stared into his brothers eyes for the last time as the darkness turned to black.

That evening, when Valentine woke up, he stared up at the white ceiling and felt a moment of relief as he thought it was all a dream, sitting up, he realized he was not in his bedroom as he had suspected. I was asleep in the chair in the corner of the room.

"What happened?" Valentine asked

I looked up, tear stained, and smiled weakly at him.

The two men that had came in earlier..One hit you on the back of the head and grabbed the brief case. I knew something was up with them, Valentine said.

"You're lucky to be alive"

Valentine laughed, Looking at Zadie's tear stained face, he knew it was not a dream.

"Zadie, you are not my Boss or my best friend nor am I your consigleer."

Tears ran down my face as I stood up. "Call me when you forgive this."

As I walked out I knew that was a call I would never get.
