The Godreaux Diaries - Part One Started by: LaceyGodreaux on Jul 12, '17 09:52

After her Mother had passed, Lacey wasn't sure what to do with herself. She worked odd jobs here and there- some desk jobs mostly. Got told what to do and when to do it. The pay wasn't that great but she stuck with it; determined to make an honest living for herself. She burned through a lot of her inheritance. It was meant for her to "get out of New York and make a name for yourself elsewhere." She knew what it meant but she saw how her Mother ended up and wasn't interested.

With the last $2500 her Mother had left, she decided to up and move to Las Vegas. It was going to be a new start. She had spoken very briefly on the phone to her aunt Meredith and a good word had been put in for her to start life as a cocktail waitress on The Strip.

It was awful.

Every day the same shit. Ass pinched, catcalled, phone numbers left as tips instead of cash. She was over it.

On her way back to her car one evening a man approached her. Headstrong, but weary she loudly asked: "Can I help you with something?"

"Actually, as luck would have it. You can, miss. I've watched you drone through life here. You're not meant for this. Your mother would have wanted more for you."

Unsure of his intentions and fed up with the cards she'd been dealt, pun intended, she raised her hand and slapped the man across the face.

"I didn't mean it like that, but it sounded like I did, so I'm going to let that slide." The man adjusted his tie and continued. "What I mean is, you can help us and in the meantime you can make a lot more cash than you're making now. Do you know the layout of the back hallways of this joint?" He motioned toward the casino.

She thought about what to say. She thought long and hard. She thought about the night she got the call that her mother had been shot and killed. She thought about the shit desk jobs. She thought about her electricity getting turned off week after week in New York. She thought about the shitty casino and the shitty customers and the shitty pay.

She looked up at the man.

"I do. Yes." She said confidently. "But it's going to cost yo-"

The man interrupted her. "Save it. Fuck this place, take this." The man handed her a business card. "This is my boss. She wants to talk to you and she won't take no for an answer. So it's a good thing you said yes. She was a friend of your Mother's. Be safe, Miss." The man opened Lacey's car door and by the time she got all the way in the car and turned around. he was gone.

Lacey looked down at the card in her hand.

Lillith
The Agency

80 E Harmon Ave,
Las Vegas, NV 89109

The next morning, Lacey nervously headed out to the address on the business card she got the night before. Confused, intrigued, and ready for a change, she pulled out of the parking lot of her apartment.

She arrived at a massive building with no markings. She rolled her eyes. "This must be it." She said, remembering the old Regime headquarters where her mother worked, laced with the same level of conspicuousness.

Exiting her car and heading toward the building, a few guys were hanging outside smoking cigarettes. She coughed obviously in their direction before opening the door to go inside. One of them put his hand against the door, closing it.

"Where you headed, pretty lady?" He said with a sly smile. She didn't feel threatened, just disgusted.

Before she could speak the door flung open, displacing both her and her new friend. A tall woman with thick framed glasses emerged. She spoke loudly and with purpose.

"Vito, get your fucking hands off this door before I remove them from this plane of existence. She said boomingly, stunning everyone outside within earshot. She turned her attention to Lacey.

"You must be Lacey. Am I right?" She sweetly and disarmingly turned her attention to Lacey.

Lacey nodded. "Lillith?" Lacey replied, business card still in hand.

Some snickers from the boys outside were met with a stare from the tall, spectacled woman.

"No, dear. I'm Daria. But Lillith is waiting. Right this way."

Lacey followed closely, uncomfortable being too far from Daria. Odd how someone you know so little can be your only source of comfort in such a unfamiliar setting, Lacey thought to herself. Before she even realized she hadn't taken in any of the scenery of the inside of the Headquarters, Daria stopped. Lacey stopped abruptly to avoid bumping into her. Daria gently opened the door to an office. Lacey looked up at the door.

Lillith

Bacon and Chocolate Welcome
Bullshit Not Welcome

She smirked a bit.

"Ma'am, Lacey Godreaux is here to see you." Daria said

"Send her in." a voice returned.
