The mystery of the lost boy Started by: Kharon on Jul 12, '17 16:30

Kharon stopped the boat at the harbour and after cleaning and securing the boat, he walked back to the Headquarters. It has been a long day and even longer week. Seriously there were so many deaths last week that Kharon had to make triple trips to the other side.

Hank_Moody was already waiting for Kharon to arrive and had the bottle of whiskey on the table with two glasses. Seeing the bottle half empty Kharon suspected Hank_Moody already had been drinking before he came home. Smiling at Hank_Moody he took the glass of whiskey and drank it in one nip.

"Thanks man", he said to Hank_Moody, "I really needed that drink. Its always nice to come home after a busy week and having my Right Hand waiting for me with the thing I needed the most. That drink. But man, you have to excuse me now, I need some time alone. Something happened this week and I want to give that a place and think about it. Make sure the Headquarter main entrance door is locked well".

Hank_Moody saw his boss was tired. After hearing he wanted to have some time alone, he knew that this was real business.

"Sure boss", he said, "I will make sure the doors are locked and if you want to talk, you know where to find me".

After Hank_Moody left, Kharon took the bottle, poured in his glass again and sat down in his reclining armchair. He can now relax and take a moment to think about the strange trip he made earlier this week.

It was Wednesday, just a normal midweek day, when Kharon entered his boat and checked the bodies that were left for him to carry to the other side. Everything seemed to be okay when suddenly his eyes were drawn to a man that seemed to be carrying something in his hands. It happens often enough that relatives give their dead family members something with them to the other side. But this time, it looked different.

Kharon went to the dead man and tried to see what was in his hands. It looked like a piece of paper. He tried to take it to see what was written on it, but it was not a paper. It was a photograph of a little boy. Kharon turned the picture around to see if there was something written on the backside, but there was no name on it. No message, nothing. Turning the picture around again to see the boy's face, Kharon was intriged by the him. He must have been about 12 years old.  A handsome boy with a strong face and a mischievous grin aimed at person photographing him.

Kharon finished the bottle of whiskey and lit a cigarette. Now he felt more relaxed. On the table was today's newspaper and Kharon picked it up to read it. Nothing spectacular happened in Las Vegas today only a wedding announcement on the front page. Kharon had his ideas of marriage and just stopped reading the newspaper and put it back on the table.

And there he saw the picture again. In a way the boy on it looked familiar, but Kharon realises too that almost all 12 year old boys wearing a cap look alike. He will have to ask Hank_Moody if he can find out who the kid is. Hank_Moody hangs out with all kinds of people, visits bars and brothels. He for sure can drop the photo and see if someone recognises the boy.

Looking at his watch, Kharon realises it is too late for him to ask Hank_Moody about this mysterious boy and decides this will have to wait till tomorrow.
Kharon picked up the photograph and went to his bedroom. He put the picture on his dresser and before turning off the lights to go to sleep, he looked once more at the boy and said to him. "I will find you".
