The scene is a familiar one, one that is very intimate and close for you as your identity as the Catwoman. It is the place you go to think, to scheme, to talk, or to express yourself. It's where you've gone to begin many a jobs, it's also where you've gone to end them. It is also the place where you have watched over and met some of your most important people. The rooftop. A rooftop really? What's so special about that? Except this isn't just any old rooftop, and it's not the location that touches you, it's the significance of it and WHO you met here that makes it special. This is the place where the first meeting took place. The place where the last time you were here, everything ended in this city, to start over somewhere else, and now you're back here at the request of someone who's trying to be mysterious, but you know their tricks, so you know exactly who it is that called you here. It was a cute attempt that they tried to be mysterious. As you take in the setting around you on the rooftop and look out at the skyline, you feel it's almost poetic, that things have come full circle and now you're back here. As you walk closer to the edge of the roof to get a better look at the streets below, you see a white box on the edge of the rooftop. It's not to big and it's not very small. In fact it looks like a jewelry box. You can tell right away that it's been placed there purposely. It sits there looking so inviting, your curiosity gnawing at you as you wonder what exactly is inside the box, but you're hesitant because you know what curiosity did to the cat in the stories... The night, the rooftops, and most importantly the shadows all wait for you to make your next move... |

Finally arriving at 'the' rooftop, Selina scampered around taking in the scenery as memories overtook her. Her grin was slow and soft after wondering briefly last night if she had much else to smile about anymore. The adventure, the thrills seemed nonexistent to the point even petty crimes weren't appealing to her. Her heart was crying out for the way things used to be, yet realized time moves forward not stays frozen in the past. Life was full of possibilities and opportunities, and she was eager to discover if life would be a brand new element of excitement. The amusement was clear in her voice as she spoke. "Miaowww. Just what have we here?" Her black stilettos echoed on the rooftop as she strolled over to the white box. Her green eyes couldn't hide the curiosity lurking there as well as a bit of mischief to give to her mysterious gifter. Selina crouched down with her lithe movements, resting comfortably as she stretched a hand to pick up the box. She held it in her palm itching to open it, yet closed her fingers over the box then stood up. She tilted her head towards the bright moon peeking through a few night clouds. Her body was relaxed, one hand holding the surprise gift while the other braced on her hip sporting her beloved cat-o-nine-tails whip. Her voice was a soft purr as she spoke into the night air. "I know you're here. Your cologne is tickling my sense of smell, so while the cat's away the bat will play is it? Leaving clues, gifts, what next do you have planned?" |

The aforementioned shadows didn't move. As a matter fact nothing did as the woman spoke her words into the cool night sky. He knew she was talking to him. She had detected his presence it seemed. He was either getting sloppy or she was knew him too well. He wouldn't be surprised if it was a mixture of both. Either way waiting her out here in this shadow wasn't gonna do anybody any good anyway. He moved from the shadows of the big vent he was hiding behind like a wraith. Body covered by his cape. It had been a long time since he donned this special suit. But that armor still fit him like a glove. As he walked on Selina, his footsteps were silent like always. He came to a stop a good distance behind her where he was bathed in the moonlight, looking oddly out of place with the light. After standing for a minute he responded in a gravelly and low tone of voice: "I don't have cologne on, and I don't know what you're talking about leaving clues." He took a couple more steps toward her this time, making sure to let her hear the falls of his foot this time so she could know he was getting closer. He narrowed his eyes behind the eyes of his cowl, which made the lenses narrow as well to make it look like the blank lenses were his actual eyes. He put more of a growl in his voice and said: "You're holding a box that doesn't belong to you in your hands. That makes it stolen property. Give it up and come peacefully for once Selina." Batman said, as he subtly moved one of his hands over the pouch on his belt where his Bolas were located. |

Oh he wanted to really play games did he, well okay she thought. She enjoyed games very much, especially chasing the bat. Selina turned slowly towards the gravelly voice, keeping her hand hovering near her precious whip. Tilting her head at an angle, she grins all catlike. Her voice still a soft purr as if she was toying with her prey before devouring it. "Oh well lookie who's shown back up all armored up, and ready to do battle. Hey handsome, how ya been?" Selina gave a quick pout at the mention of her 'gift' being stolen property. Her green eyes filled with mischief though, yet in the poor lighting on the rooftop her expression was kept a secret. Unable to hold back the smirk though, Selina's voice was completely sympathetic. "Awwh doll. It was sitting there on the ledge all lonesome and simply purred my name. You know what I always say...Finder's Keepers!" Selina kept a watchful eye on his movements. She was always in tune with the way his body moved, she was extremely fascinated to just look at him, and this little game he had going was making her heart beat a little faster with excitement coarsing through her veins. She began to stroll a few steps to the right, enclosing the box in her hand more securely, still endlessly curious at the contents. Turning her eyes back towards the moon, Selina's voice purred with innocent tones. "Peacefully? Now now handsome, when have I ever done things without peaceful undertones? I am a sweet lil' kitten. Even trimmed my claws for the evening." She hopped up to the edge of the rooftop, walking slowly as her stilettos clicked softly with each step. She swore she saw his body jerk in reflex as if he was afraid she was gonna jump...or fall. No matter how tough he acted, he had a soft spot for her whether he embraced it all the time or not. |

So it was because of this inability that the eyes on the cowl stayed narrowed even though under the cowl his left eye twitched in irritation when Catwoman used her famous saying "Finder's keepers". He kept his eyes locked on her as she continued talking, catching her glance to where his arms should be underneath the cape. Little did she know that he often switched the places of pouches that hold his shuriken, or "Batarangs" as they were commonly called, and the pouch that holds his Bolas. Not to mention he had more then one pouch of shuriken. She was watching him, almost as intently as he was watching her. She tried to play it cool and tease him. Her mask, but really she was curious, very curious and confused. He should just throw the Bola right now as she talks and wrap her up, she'd probably dodge it but then she would fall off the roof and defense and he could plan accordingly instead of giving her this time to look down and plan an escape course. If this was anybody else ANYBODY, then they'd have been caught by now. But he just couldn't do that to Selina. It was fine, he had a plan after all. And this wasn't their first dance. He knew exactly what she'd do. She was moving her hand, he could catch twitches of her muscle movement in the skin tight suit she was wearing. Just as she threw her last little bit of sweet words at him in her sweet tone of voice she was on the move falling off the roof. He knew time and time again she'd never fall and hurt herself, but yet he couldn't hold back the slight movement of his left arm which was NOT the arm that was over the Bola pouch. Again he was happy for the lens not picking up quick eye movements, for his eye twitched in annoyance once more, but quickly he shook it off, and took off to jump over the ledge of the roof himself to chase her. As he fell after her, he couldn't help the slight upward twitch of his lip. He wouldn't smile or smirk, just that slight twitch of the lip and they were off again to play another game of the Bat and the Cat. |

Selina pranced along the rooftop edge, peering down to the streets below, making note of all the lampposts scattered out, other rooftops remembering everything like it was just yesterday they were playing another round of 'Bat and Cat' games. Her throat purred with excitement as the memories flooded her mind, more like a slow rumbling purr building to a soft 'miaooow'. She tilted her head towards Batman, her green eyes ever so sharpening their gaze on his movements. She couldn't see his stare, more felt his eyes on her sexy frame as she contnued to prance dangerously close to the edge more and more. Selina held tight to the white box then stepped one heel into a broken piece of concrete on the ledge causing her body to sway, clamping down on the box a bit too hard as not to drop it. Regaining her composure her prancing took a playful tone before she made it to the far edge of the other side. Selina crouched down as she turned to face Batman half turning to him while easily able to catch any movement on the streets. "Oooh well drat. I think I chipped a nail back there." Selina kept her body angled with her whip holstered away from his line of vision, her hand never leaving the handle, always ready for anything. "Well Handsome it seems the games begin. I've got places to be." Before she had time to blink or inhale her breath from the last word spoken, Selina flipped off the rooftop backwards into the night. The crackling sound of her whip could be heard then grew faint. She knew he was chasing her, yet she didn't slow her pace as she called out into the night air whooshing by her. Selina flipped up over the lamppost, cracking her whip around it securely then flew through the air, landing on the nearby rooftop. "Come on Batman, letting a little kitty outrun you now. Age isn't getting to you is it?" She was already several blocks away from where their chase began, but thought he needed to rest. Selina crouched down on the ledge, turning swiftly her entire frame towards him as he landed within a few feet from her. "Miaowww. Or is it that bulky suit you just love to strut around in Handsome that's slowing you down?" Selina taunted him with the white box, daring to attempt to open it and peek inside. Gifts were one thing, but knowing she was "stealing" this treasure in his opinion made it all the more worthwhile to enjoy the taunt. Fine jewels were something she adored getting her claws on. |

The first thing this little chase had taught him, was that he was outta practice. He learned that really fast after the first drop, he had pulled out his grapple gun to pull himself onto a rooftop slightly above Selina's current landing destination like he usually did. That was all well and fine. The realization came from when he tried to pull himself up onto the roof and almost slammed his body into the building instead of successfully climbing it. A novice mistake that he should have been well past. It created the opportunity for Selina to create some distance between them. Something that she had no problem commenting on. And quite loudly too, well there went another twitch of the eye in slight annoyance as she asked about age. Pride almost getting the best of him, he had the sudden urge to speed up his movements, but years and years of discipline training had taught him better than that. He took a calming breath as he picked up his normal pace of a run to hop to the next rooftop as he was starting to get a feel for the route that Catwoman was taking. He'd hang back while keeping her in his sights and while he kept her close he would examine the roads and the paths ahead to see where exactly the best route she would feel she could lose him. Once he took the time and saw her next moves clearly in his mind, he then sped up and made moves to cut her off. He knew or was at least able to predict where she would be going from spot to spot during this chase due to her body movements, and her head movements. Her head would constantly face the position that she was going to move to next. He would use that to his advantage. It was then he caught her look down to the box in her hand. THERE! That was what he was waiting for. Like the tortoise and the hare, she took her eye off the prize, or let her eyes wander to what she thought was her prize, instead of keeping a careful watch of the other person involved in the situation. Batman instantly knew that she would look for a higher building to climb up soon so that she could take a peek at exactly what it was she had, that he was chasing her for. With that in mind he added a burst of speed into his legs while she was seemingly distracted on her tunnel vision of getting to higher ground to get her peak. He quickly shot his grapple gun at the highest building around them waiting to feel the line go taut once the claw connected with the edge of the roof. Once he felt the line stiffen, he hit the retract button on the gun and suddenly lifted off to soar through the sky. Selina was so busy looking down that she wouldn't notice him taking off in the air, and when she looked back she would think that she damned near lost him for now. So she would wait on top of the building for him to catch up, except he'd already be there. Heh. As he got close to the edge of the roof he used the gun and his upper body strength to pull himself up and over the ledge as he tucked the grapple back into his belt, and hid his upper body behind his cape as he waited for Catwoman to show up on this rooftop as he predicted. She didn't disappoint, about a moment or two later he saw the end of her whip connect with the ledge of this building. Followed a few seconds later by Selina pulling vaulting herself over the ledge of the very same rooftop he was currently on. He couldn't hide the slight smirk on his face as he had predicted her moves correctly. Swiftly jumping across the roof in a quick action, he landed a few feet away. Such was the formula of this game of theirs. Just like she probably knew the next words out of his mouth would be: "It's over Selina, hand over the box." |

Her first thoughts were thinking things were just going purrfectly that evening. It had been quite some time since she enjoyed the feel of the chase they had in times past. So many times Bruce tried to use his charms and persuasion to get Selina on the straight and narrow path, but she had no regrets in life, barring the situation that happened losing her sister. "Hand it over? But why Batman. Surely whoever left it there wouldn't mind me having the goods. My feline charm would have dazzled them into giving it to me willingly." Right here, right now her heart was racing with excitement to be back in the thrill of the chase with Batman. Being near him always made her voice come out in a purr, whether it was taunting him like she was, or because he couldn't resist how he felt about her. Selina stood up from her crouched position then strolled a few paces in his direction. "So you call and I come? Handsome come now, your can't train a cat to do that." Selina moved closer, keeping a firm grip on the box as she stood before Batman. She placed her free hand on his chest, her claws spread out relaxingly as she slowly caressed his suit. Miaowww. Selina looked up to his eyes knowing he could see the hidden desire in her green eyes. He knew very well how she felt about him, yet they both couldn't deny the excitement of the chase either. Selina kept her claws gentle, for now anyways, as she moved them over his chest down to his abdomen. The mischievous gleam in her eyes was evident as she purred. "You know something Batman, I just realized this is a date. How very sweet of you to bring me a gift instead of flowers." Her hand slowly moved lower then lower until his hand snaked up gripping her wrist right before she attempted to open his secret compartment with the bolas. Selina didn't show her surprise at being caught out in her attempt. She kept a cool expression of innocence as she slowly grinned in response. His hand still held tight to her wrist tugging her slender frame up towards him, and Selina gazed up into his eyes. She knew he was full aware of the slight catch in her breathing. They both were very good at keeping their attraction at bay during their adventures, but damn him for keeping a better reign on his tonight. Selina got flustered then broke her wrist free as she strolled off away from Batman. "You're in my space, but awwh let's keep playing the Bat and the Cat." Selina scampered off in a run, disappeared in a flip off the rooftop, leaving Batman to follow after her once more. Her stilettos made zero sound as she landed on the lower rooftop next door, one leg arched towards her, bent at the knee, while the other leg stretched outwards, and her free hand braced against the ground, with her facing the rooftop she just left. Selina glanced up to the rooftop taking comfort in knowing he cared enough to come to the rooftop edge looking for her. "I always land on my feet, or have you forgotten?" Batman wouldn't always admit it, but she knew how he felt for her, even despite that sexy eye twitching she knew he did when he was around Selina. She could feel it now as she called out another taunt. Selina removed her whip in a flash, flung it towards the night sky feeling when it gripped on her intended target. She needed time to open this box, and needed to get far enough away to indulge in her uncontrollable curiosity. Selina flew through the air, flipping and landing on another rooftop. She took off at a run then caught the next rooftop in a single flip since it was mere feet in distance apart. Selina kept on until she put at least twelve more rooftops between the last encounter. Her curiosity increased to the point she just couldn't take the not knowing. Selina crouched down at the rooftop edge before taking another jump. Her small hands fumbled in excitement as she tore at the single ribbon encasing the white box. One swipe with her claw fixed that problem, and the ribbon began to drift in the air down to the rooftop. Her green eyes were almost like a child's at Christmas opening a present as she pulled the box open. Selina gasped softly at the sight before her. |

It was then that his lip twitched in annoyance as he almost sucked his teeth but restrained himself. He knew she wouldn't go far. She just wanted to create enough distance to look and see what it was he had that cause him to chase her. He walked slowly to the edge of the building that she just jumped off. And saw that she was slightly looking back to see if she was in the clear. She taunted him again about landing on her feet which he also brushed off. It was then that she took out her whip and latched onto another building then climbed. That should give her the amount of time and space she needed to feel comfortable to look. He wasn't expecting her to get the chance so soon. To be honest he planned on catching her and taking the box back first. But it seem she had bested him. He had been too outta practice and she had outsmarted him in the end. He pulled out his grapple and aimed all the way for the newest building she had just climbed. He waited for the line to go taut before pressing the retract button and taking off toward the building. Pulling himself up the building, he could see that she was just getting the ribbon off the box and getting ready to open it up. The element of surprise still on his side he walked carefully but still just as silently up behind her but stayed a good distance away so she didn't detect his presence right away. As she opened the box her body went from shaking with excitement and curiosity, to being still after she let out at gasp of surprise. If he was outta costume he would have laughed. It was because of this that he couldn't hide the teasing tone in his voice as he said: "You peeked." She whipped her head around fast to face him. He could tell she was completely surprised and had even more questions on her mind. He was sure he could guess them all, but now that would be no fun would it. He would let her continue to let her mind try to process exactly what was going on and what this meant for the two of them for a minute. Maybe she thought this was a joke, but then again she'd know better than that. He didn't have the best sense of humor after all, and joking and wise cracks were more her department anyway. "I assume you have questions. I should let you ask them, but instead I'll answer all of them for you without you having to ask a single one." She was now standing to her full height, eyes still on the box but they glanced to his own eyes from time to time. He walked up on her slow taking his time with his stride. He wasn't gonna move fast and make this easy on her. He was enjoying this payback teasing of his own. It may have been childish of him, and was certainly petty but he'd be a damned liar if he said he wasn't enjoying this. Her mind was moving a thousand miles an hour, and that was the only thing holding her back from speaking. As he approached and got closer and saw the shock on her face more clearly he had to bite his tongue lightly to hold back the smirk that was threatening to break out. He finally reached her after taking his time, and slowly took the box out of her left hand. This took some effort as she had a tight grip on the box like she was holding onto it for dear life. She was watching his every move like a hawk. He carefully reached his hand inside the bigger box to pull out a smaller one that was also already opened. What the small box was holding gleamed in his hand as the light from the moon bounced off the object in his hand. He then took Selina's left hand, that was formerly holding the box, into his own hand. He then got down on one knee holding the small open box in his left hand, up to Selina so she could see it and him holding it clearly while holding her left hand in his own right. He then said in his normal tone of speaking: "You know I'm not really good with words and emotions. But even if I was I don't think I could find the words to exclaim how much you mean to me. You've been by my side for a long time, something that I never would have thought would happen. I never thought I'd find someone as special as you, and if I did I was sure I'd mess it up. But life is short, especially for people who do the things we do and see the things we see. So for however much longer we're allowed to be here, I wanna spend the rest of that time with you. Together. So I'll ask you now, Selina Kyle........ Will you marry me?" |

Her surprised expression remained frozen as Selina stood there. So many things were racing through her mind in that moment. How? When? Why? If she could move, she would probably collapse from shock, yet there she stood not moving. Despite all the subtle hints over the years, Selina still couldn't quite imagine Bruce would pull something like this off, especially without her having any clue....but he did. And he did it quite well, damnit. Inside the white box had been a black velvet jewelry box, and even as she went through the motions opening both boxes, her heart began to race as she opened it to find the most beautiful ring she could have ever imagined. The moonlight peeked through the drifting clouds of the night sky, giving the diamond a dazzling sparkle. Dare she to dream this was real, and that it meant what she wanted it to mean. She could easily feel his presence, but still stared into the box. His voice was teasing when he said she peeked, but Bruce knew her deep down and she wasn't one to have much patience when she wanted something. The more he kept telling her to hand it over, the more it fueled her desire to jumpstart and carry on the chase. Everything became clear to his actions earlier though, demanding the box be returned. Whether he knew it or not, or even wanted to admit it to himself, Bruce Wayne was romantic down to his core, especially where Selina was concerned. Her eyes never left the sight of him or his movements as he drew closer to her. All Selina could do was stand there, and attempt to settle her racing mind as well as her heart. All her life people had let her down, used her, abandoned her, and she had given up on people long ago. That was until she first met Batman that fateful night on the rooftop. Even that first night she felt an attraction, and she probably wouldn't admit to it now because it meant being vulnerable. Selina parted her lips as Bruce suggested she had questions. She did. Several questions were aching to explode, but she said nothing. He kept coming closer to her then pried the box from her grip. Selina was so close to him, her hands were aching to reach out to Bruce, so she didn't realize at first he was attempting to retrieve the box. She relaxed her grip as he tugged it from her hand. The phrase 'the cat got your tongue' was completely ironic right now given that Selina was the one speechless for a change. Another soft gasp escaped her lips as Bruce took hold oh her left hand then lowered his frame to one knee. Selina wasn't the sort to cry anymore, not since those days when she first lost contact with her sister, Maggie, but right now she felt as if she would choke on tears. Tears of happiness. Nothing and no one in this world has truly ever made her feel as happy as the way Bruce made her feel, and continued to feel. His words were tender, and true, straight from the heart. Selina's breath caught the moment he uttered those words. Four simple words to most people, yet to Selina they sent her heart racing like a cat on a hot tin roof. Bruce awaited her answer, and it might have seemed like an eternity before she found her voice, but in reality barely a few seconds had past. She could give him no less in return with her answer, despite that her voice cracked a bit, which amused him she could tell. "People often say cats cannot be tamed, but I'd have to say they were wrong. There isn't enough time, nor enough words to express how I feel about you Bruce. I cannot imagine my life wanting to be anywhere other than by your side. We belong together, and we are stuck like glue. I don't know how long our lives will be, but I do know being with you makes every moment special and worth being alive. I know life is precious, yet you mean so much more to me than my own life. Bruce Wayne, I cannot imagine my life without you, nor do I want to try. Yes. Yes I will marry you." The happiness in her eyes warred with the happy tears threatening to spill down her cheeks. Didn't Bruce remember cats don't like water!? Even now she couldn't fight the sassy side no matter what, but Selina felt as if she was floating on a cloud right now. It was a damn good thing Bruce thought her sassy side was sexy as hell. Selina held her hand steady as he slid the beautiful ring on her finger then unable to wait any longer, she wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him with fiery passion. |
