My Pet Hates Edition I Started by: Buster on Jul 08, '10 11:45

My name is Buster, and this is 'My Pet Hates I'

1) Disrespect - This really rattles my cage. Almost on a daily basis we see mere goombas and gangsters come out here to disrespect leaders and Made men. Why I ask? Because their father was killed? Or did the big nasty Crewleader tell them not to do something?
What gives you the right? you don't have one! Perhaps, if your father had followed orders, as they agree'd to do when they join a family, they wouldn't have been killed. Maybe, if their fathers showed respect to other, more powerful mobsters in this thing of ours, they'd still be alive. Very rarely, do people die for 'no reason' or through no fault of their own. But that is the life we lead. We are here to serve our cities and to, if called upon, protect them with our lives. I without a shadow of a doubt, can say i'd happily do so for Los Angeles, DonPardo, Godfather Spacemountian - Hell, anyone of my compatriots.
Then we see people out here slating leaders for 'Member Whoring' this is another discussion which shows no respect and really mugs me off. A Leader is free to run their crew how they see fit, whether whoring is right or not depends on the persons morals. If you do not like a persons morals, then grow a pair, stand up and do something about it instead of whining. Actions speak louder than words people.

2) Tattoos and alike. - Every now and then I see someone walk by sporting a tattoo reading 'no PP' or some other similiar sentence. Last time i checked we were mobsters.. the job of a mobster is to serve, protect and earn for his family by whatever means necessary. Mobsters are thieves, but we are thieves of honour. Or atleast we used to be. Now you have every Tom, Dick and 'Arry moaning about pickpocketing... It's in the job description, It's there to be utilised. The only people who have the right to sport these tattoos are those who have the power to enforce them, Godfathers, Crewleaders and alike.
However, whilst on the subject of pickpocketing - Associates pickpocketing Made Men and above. Or at least attempting. Which comes back to my first point - Where the hell is the respect? When you become a made man, a man of honour. You are untouchable by these associates, i remember a day and age where associates would not dare to try such a stupid stunt through fear of death. This, in my opinion, is the way it should be. Associates, should not be attempting to mug Made men and above. Show some darned respect.

More pet hates to come, I feel i've blown off enough steam at current. I'll bring out enough edition when i'm nice and annoyed again.

It somewhat surprises me that you are against being unfriendly towards pickpockets. There is a big enough group of pickpocket friendlies to keep it amongst yourself, why do you have to drag those of us who don't wish to be a part of it, into it?

I personally view pickpocketing as disrespect. Mostly for the fact that I have it right here, clear as day, tattooed on me, and yet I still get pickpocketed. But also because that person has now stolen from me, I will not stand to have my hard earned cash just lifted off me in the streets because some punk thinks he can shove his filthy hands anywhere he pleases. It isn't a matter of how much money is taken from me, it's a matter of respect. A matter of you having respect for me, if you see me on the streets, I only ask one thing of you, to not pickpocket me. Why is that so hard? Why do you have to pickpocket me? Why can't you pickpocket someone else? Someone who will support your actions?

Mobsters are thieves, but we are thieves of honour.

How can someone be viewed as honorable if they steal from their fellow Mafiosi? Mind you, this isn't directed at the pickpocket friendy Mafiosi of course.

With that Rocco pulls out a cigarette and lights it up, his hands shake as lights it. Speaking in the streets was something new for this youngster and he was nervous about the whole thing. His nerves steady as he puffs on his cigarette and awaits for the conversation to pick back up.

Sir, once you reach the rank of mademan, I have no problem with your tattoo. Although, sitting, as an earner. you are but an associate, as am I. Personally, I don't mind at whatever rank you wish to pickpocket me. If you're good enough to lift my pockets, go for it. If you don't want your cash stealing, bank it.

For that reason, we steal off of each other, it is little else than business. We do not steal from the public, or we do this as little as we can. If it were not for stealing and killing eachother as Mafioso, we might as well make one huge family with 300 mafioso in one family. Does this suit? Of course not. Would this make for an exciting environment? No.

When you become a made man, a man of honour. You are untouchable by these associates.

As i stated earlier, once you reach the once honoured rank of mademan. You have the right to sport this tattoo. No disrespect intended, but do you, as an earner, have the power to stop people pickpocketing you? We, as associates are disposable, we often get no second chances, you're willing to kill someone for a measly amount of money? You speak of this as disrespect, I do not see it this way. If you were Made, of course I would. But for me, it boils down to the point, you're not.

Ha!  I had to come here to get involved in this conversation.  I won't debate because I agree with what has been said, but just to add my two cents today...

We like to throw around a word like honor, yet very few live honorably.  I don't live honorably.  I will respect my leader, and the Godfather, and maintain my loyalty to them at all costs, but that doesn't mean I'm living honorably, does it?  I suppose it does in a sense.  But really - how can we say we are honorable when we do the things we do?  So, I really don't want to hear about honor from somebody who three minutes ago was robbing a post office or stealing a purse.  Or from somebody who's waited for hours or days to shoot at another of our fellow mafioso.

And pickpocketing just makes me laugh.  If you want to pickpocket, you should be able to pickpocket.  But you should also be aware that you pickpocket at your own risk.  If you pickpocket, assume it's going to piss somebody off.  And if I'm pissed off, I'm liable to pull out my gun and take out my frustration.  And I should be in my right to do so.  So, my point about pickpocketing is this - the only rule there should be about pickpocketing should be: do it at your own risk.  You authorize the person who you pickpocket to shoot you in the face.  None of this "get my permission first" crap.  If you have the intestinal fortitude to respond with force, you should have the right to do so.  But that's just one man's opinion.

I agree with Many of your points Hal. There is an old phrase "Honour amongst thieves" I like to think that i ive honourably.

As for Pickpocket at your own risk i couldn't agree more!
